to find the Siobhan/Brian/Ruiri/Jennifer storyline distressing? Is it just cos i'm pg and hormonal - or is this every parent's nightmare. 'what if i die and have to leave my child(ren)'.
sob.
I reckon Jenny will come round. Or at least I hope she does...
Anyone else?!

The BBC spell it like that as it is the most common way of spelling it in Ireland today.
It's 'modern Irish Gaelic', in that the dh has been taken out of the original spelling.

You are right there are lots of different ways of spelling it because being so an old language Gaelic has different spellings for think in Scotland and Wales too. Then of course, because it's such a great name ther English decide they would Anglocise it and make it dead easy to spell R O R Y.

Dh and I had many arguements over this before ds was born

JanH · 07/04/2007 22:37

MrsD, was that you on the hearthrug with Brine?

MrsDoolittle · 07/04/2007 22:38

Who thinks Ruairi will end up with Elizabeth & Nigel?

JanH · 08/04/2007 19:32

(Perfect compromise - Siobhan and Elizabeth were best mates so it makes sense for them to take him and he will still be close to Ambridge without Jennifer feeling everybody knows about Siobhan and Brian)

harpsichordcarrier · 08/04/2007 19:35

oh god, Elizabeth and Nigel.
of course, pure genius.

How about he ends up with Adam and his other half (name escapes me - the chef)?

The other chap wanted a child after all with that nutty friend of his a while back.

It'd also be divine justice in a way cos Brian would have to be so very grateful to them after being blimmin awful about the two guys getting married in the first place.

JanH · 08/04/2007 20:31

But Siobhan wants him to have a mother...

Lio · 09/04/2007 10:38

Another vote for Nigel and Elizabeth.

TrilbyOFerrall · 09/04/2007 10:48

of course; Nigel and Elizabeth.

Jenny is just so wet and sanctimonious...bleurgh

She's turned them down though - am still hoping however

satine · 09/04/2007 19:26

I def think Elizabeth and Nigel will end up with Ruiri. I know Jennifer is finding it hard but fgs, Siobhan could be dying of cancer. I found myself thinking: get a grip, Jennifer, and stop thinking about yourself for a minute. She doesn't have to feel sorry for Siobhan but she can't take it out on Brian's son. I think she's far more worried about what everyone will think when they find out what's happened.

And Lillian is a bit of a heroine of mine. That fabulous laugh....
