Is anyone watching on channel 4?

OP posts:

Can the children parents from this week apply again next year?

ToeKneeChestNut · 19/08/2017 21:36

Just watched the final. I can't believe that Rahul's dad lifted the trophy like that at the end!

Joshua's mum taking he credit was awful too. I was transfixed by her falsies and eye makeup. She looked like she was the last one standing at all night party. :-D

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 19/08/2017 21:38

Very sceptical about him doing jigsaws almost from birth. How would he have the hand control?

Rhubarbginisnotasin · 19/08/2017 21:45

I can't believe that Rahul's dad lifted the trophy like that at the end

Its not the first time he's been almost orgasmic during the competition.

MrTurtleLikesKisses · 19/08/2017 21:50

I'm watching on +1 but I don't know why I'm bothering. Ronan and his family come across so well but Rahul's Dad is awful. I don't believe Rahul will go on to have a successful, happy life.

MyPatronusIsAUnicorn · 19/08/2017 21:56

"Its not the first time he's been almost orgasmic during the competition." 😂😂

I was really rooting for a child to win that had wanted to enter, not the pushy parent ones. I was gutted for Joshua, I really wanted him to win. His mum is bloody annoying though.

Rahul didn't seem overly happy. It's like he doesn't know how to just be a child, which is really sad. I'd far rather my children had mediocre intelligence and a happy, fun childhood than these incredibly brainy, miserable looking children.

ThisIsntFunnyDean · 19/08/2017 22:28

The jigsaws from birth claim by Joshua's mam directly contradicts her nurture claim, unless she packed some in her labour bag!

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 19/08/2017 22:35

On a previous programme she did say from 3 months 😁

Davros · 19/08/2017 22:51

Gah! So pissed if that Rahul Rahul's dad won. Ronan was sweet and, considering they differentiated for age in previous rounds, how is the final between a 9 and a 12 year old fair under their rules?

MsPassepartout · 19/08/2017 22:56

Jigsaws at 3 months Grin Grin Grin

That would be impressive hand eye coordination.
DS3 is 8 months and could probably just about pick a large jigsaw piece up and wave it around before shoving it in his mouth and trying to eat it. Any jigsaw piece landing in the right place would owe far more to random chance than DS3 deliberately putting it there Grin

Fekko · 19/08/2017 23:04

Feh. Ds was solving the times crossword on the maternity ward,

user9512736123 · 19/08/2017 23:09

My Ds joined Mensa in the labour room.

Fekko · 19/08/2017 23:12

Only in the labour room?

Ceto · 19/08/2017 23:22

It seems a shame Ronan didn't wait a couple of years, he'd probably have walked it. I fear Joshua may have shot himself in the foot choosing philosophy as a subject, it must be particularly difficult to mug up.

Androidsdreamofelectricsheep · 19/08/2017 23:22

Mine could tap out the rhythm of Beethoven's 5th in utero.

Jayfee · 19/08/2017 23:32

Ronan didn't realise that he should do what Rahul did...press the buzzer for the spellings as soon as the word was said and work out the spelling later.

user9512736123 · 20/08/2017 07:03

@fekko yes, only in the labour room, I'm just not pushy enough.

Ceto · 20/08/2017 08:47

I have great difficulty believing the people who said that the questions they are answering are at PhD level. Due to the fact that no exam at that level requires instant short answers.

LetZygonsbeZygones · 20/08/2017 09:51

user you missed 9 months of enrichment by waiting to sign DS up for Mensa in the labour room. What were you thinking woman? DD is newly pregnant and already ingested jigsaws, a rubics cube, the Oxford English Dictionary and a copy of the Iliad as the foetus has indicated that if it's going to be holed up in there for 9 months it'll need stuff to pass the time.

user9512736123 · 20/08/2017 09:59

Damn and blast it Zygones - I'll be sure to do that when I get pregnant again.

MissEliza · 20/08/2017 10:14

Dh thought I was being really unfair to Rahul's dad. I was glad I found this thread to prove it's not just me who thinks he's a horrible little man! I particularly hated the fact that he didn't clap when Ronan got a point.

Fekko · 20/08/2017 10:14

Why wait? Start now!

Cagliostro · 20/08/2017 10:28

considering they differentiated for age in previous rounds

I missed that, how did they do it?

I am still wondering if the spellings, general knowledge etc were given to them so they all had the same stuff.

Cagliostro · 20/08/2017 10:35

I really liked Ronan, can't believe he's only 9. Rahul I'm sure is very sweet really, he seems much younger than he is. But his dad is just awful, I'm glad it's not just me who was horrified and cringing at him lifting the trophy. Ugh!

Also when Rahul got a maths question wrong, Ronan then guessed and was only one away. Rahul's dad fucking LAUGHED. That is beyond nasty.

I was really excited to see the specialist subjects they all chose, as you can really see more of what they are like. It was disappointing that Rahul seemed to choose something just to give him an advantage (due to his mum's expertise) rather than something he seemed genuinely passionate about. Granted that may have been the editing. But what's the point in all the intelligence in the world if you don't have passion for something?

MissEliza · 20/08/2017 10:50

He laughed?! What a saddo.
