Anyone else watching this catch-up on a Castaway/10,000 years BC/The Island type show set in remote Scotland.

Partially broadcast a year or two ago, C4 stopped showing it before the group of 23 started to fall apart.

Shocking stuff, with overt sexism, bullying, aggression and violence.

Enlightening just how quickly how the 'emotionally intelligent' generation disintegrates and revert to basic role models.

Most of the women have walked out already due to bullying and sexism by various, Tobys, Ollys, Robs and Sams led by a bitter plumber.

Stark reminder how far humans haven't travelled and how quickly we can go back.

On again tonight.

Imagine how embarrassing it must be to be related to or friends with any of those "valley twats boys"

It's awful viewing.

lily219 · 10/08/2017 22:48

HolyShmoly - fingers crossed for later!

lily219 · 10/08/2017 22:54

Glenn is vile. Utterly.

weffles · 10/08/2017 22:56

stephen seems the only sensible male there. How can somewhere so beautiful be so horrid?

fourquenelles · 10/08/2017 22:58

I wonder whether he is getting any insight watching this back. He is comin across as totally vile as lily says.

abigailgabble · 10/08/2017 23:00

is glenn the hunter? yes, vile is the word for him. hopefully no warm girls will go near him after seeing this Angry

lily219 · 10/08/2017 23:00

'It's just how humans are,' -said with a smirk. No - it's just how some immature men are.

MadamePomfrey · 10/08/2017 23:01

I don't think people like glen get insight you can tell from the comments he won't learn anything from this I doubt any of the valley lads will! I just hope enough people see this that they don't just get to go back to normal! Escaping any consequences!!

Themostannoyingperson · 10/08/2017 23:09

If you live of the wild you have respect for the wild. I am guessing they are editing this to make it look grim to people that have never cooked a chicken they have plucked.

But honestly crying women ..again Please please stop the endless women sobbing thing.

thelonelyhamster · 10/08/2017 23:15

Glenn is on twitter... blaming the edit.

Obviously we know to take events as portrayed by the production company with a pinch of salt, they have a product to sell and they do edit to show things out of sequence, to show reactions that were relevant to completely different events etc.

I'm sure there were good times, when they did all come together as a community that haven't been shown... but the nature of the comments being made, and the utter cruelty shown towards the animals just isn't something the producers would even have had to edit to make look worse! It's no excuse.

allthingsred · 10/08/2017 23:23

Agree. Stephen seems like the only decent one there. Glenns vile but tbh imo none of them are particularly nice.

MadamePomfrey · 10/08/2017 23:23

Glenn was on twitter he has deleted it!! I'm sure there were happy times! But I totally agree his attitude and comments a long with a few others that's not editing that's him!!

SealSong · 10/08/2017 23:45

I was quite concerned about a Rob the vet there, he seemed to be in a bad way mentally and deteriorating fast. I think exiting was the right thing for him to do, but worrying that he was found by the production crew just wandering miles from the camp in the middle of the night.

SealSong · 10/08/2017 23:46

Glenn is thoroughly odious, as is that nasty little plumber.

minipie · 11/08/2017 00:10

Just been watching this. Ugh ugh ugh.

Glen Titch and Oli are just utterly vile.
Stephen seems a nice guy but easily led and wants to be one of the lads so much he'll go along with anything.
Jack is clever enough not to say anything too vile on camera, and to repaint history and his role. Wouldn't trust him an inch.

GrimDamnFanjo · 11/08/2017 01:28

I think this is the most shocking of all the reality shows. In one way or another all of the participants have started to dismantle, truly awful herd mentality. Basic behaviour dismissed as PC.

futuristic1 · 11/08/2017 07:05

Matt -'the gay guy' is embedded crew - a cameraman.

As is Oli - bizarrely - major arsehole

Also a woman called Jane and one other I believe

Glenn
Oli
Stephen
Titch
Jack

Rob - engineering student - provoked fight with Anton

Examples of what's walking the streets and wrong with the world.

Apart from Titch, all middle-class 'men' with power and influence - God help us!

I8toys · 11/08/2017 09:57

That group of men were vile and the quiet ones just let it continue - pathetic. The vet Rob was lovely.

The other group did they even open their mouths? - the women - no-one said anything wtf! They just let them act like twats with zero consequence and they are still defending themselves.

abigailgabble · 11/08/2017 10:05

really interesting though how as the women have left the men have basically turned into a pack of savages. has got me thinking about how meticulously engineered us humans and our functions are.

absolutely chilling viewing though. I'm gripped but peering through my fingers most of the time.

I'm also a lapsed vegan and this is giving me much to consider on that subject too!

abigailgabble · 11/08/2017 10:06

Rob the vet 😪

cushioncovers · 11/08/2017 10:31

IMO the valley boys are typical of what most people would be like in the same situation. Rob the vet wouldn't last long in a break down of society. Women would turn feral in their own way just as bad. IMO

cushioncovers · 11/08/2017 10:33

In regards to the meat diet As a vet it must go against everything Rob stands for. Sad

2rebecca · 11/08/2017 14:07

I was disappointed in this. I enjoyed castaway although that was spoiled by outsiders going to the island and bringing stuff at least they were more of a group. i think more older people helped.
I'm surprised to still see people smoking in this, surely cigarettes would be severely rationed and that they seem to have bought alcohol and home brew.
I don't understand why they decided to cook their own meals when the butcher and chef are in the same camp. It's pointless bringing in a range of skills if they just break in to nuclear units. Working together and eating together should have been part of the rules. I don't think they should have been able to vote anyone off either.
They also should have started with equal numbers of men and women and excluded anyone obviously unsuited to communal living.
I want to see a real survival experiment, not a bunch of selfish man- children bickering and scape goating. I suspect there isn't enough to keep them busy and entertained there which is why they bicker so much. What has happened to the veg patch as well?

cushioncovers · 11/08/2017 14:17

These shows always turn out to be disappointing imo. It's so heavily edited.

thelonelyhamster · 11/08/2017 15:32

I really wish the idea of 'voting people off' hadn't taken hold in reality tv so strongly. You can't just vote people out of life, it shouldn't be so prevalent on tv.
