Max is a really slick operator, isn't he? I can forgive his murky past, his whispery voice and his dirty dealings when he's able to talk Ian around so subtly and to get to the bottom of Steven's shenanigans. (Although I have no idea why he's not putting Lauren in the picture.)

Her laptop probably isn't working seeing as she used it as a hat to cover her hair in the rain!

Max isn't looking out for Lauren (or Abi) at all. So he is going to 'destroy' the community of the square by buying up local businesses and helping to 'revamp' it, presumably putting all his family and ex friends out of work and their homes. Except of course he is PAYING them to buy businesses they want to get rid of anyway and the business people own their houses so will probably be financially better off thanks to Max. Apart from the market stall holders who are renting both their pitches and their homes, but those people didn't 'do' anything to Max and probably don't even know who he is. He will put one of the few people who believed in him, Stacey, out of both a home and a job along with Martin's livelihood so I wonder will she be his 'conscience' in the end?

agree about Max putting the market stall holders out of business without any compensation. Mr Lister is on Big's payroll too i assume, with his chat about upgrading the market and so on.
Spaniel head has lost the plot really and Abi is just evil - she has always been jealous of lauren with her nice clothes and half decent job.
venella, i know i should like her really ( shes done nothing to me) i hope they show Kim and Dee and co on holiday, that would be funny. bit like Carry on abroad with that crowd. i just hope they remember queen Pearl.

I think the reason Mad Max has so many fans on here is because he is the only character who seems able to think ahead, formulate a plan (even an evil one) and take steps to put it into action (ie he has a functioning brain). Everyone else is guaranteed to do the wrong thing in any situation.
He has been buried alive in Epping Forest, set up by his family and neighbours and served years in prison for a crime he didn't do. Now it's Revenge of the Living Dead time.
