I realised a while ago that my dh has the same shirt as one of Ian's. It's a stripey polo shirt with a dark collar. I just see Ian when he wears it now

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:24

Im no fashionista, but the clothes are a bit bizarre in EE.
I really do think about this soap too much.
I know the top you mean on Ian!

Theycalledmethewildrose · 29/07/2017 20:26

I know Ian's top too. The actor who plays Ian is a great actor imo.

MrsJayy · 29/07/2017 20:28

Dh has an Ian polo shirt it must be a middle age man thing

iknowimcoming · 29/07/2017 20:29

It felt a little bit Dallas to me (showing my age Blush) with Max sleeping with Carmel for intel and Fi building up to the same with Mock, all very seedy and sex is power - ewww. Roll on the new bloke Wink

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:29

I like ian too.
He has calmed down on the women front too.

MrsJayy · 29/07/2017 20:30

Danny dyer wears waistcoats that is his geezer uniform so he has just transferred it to Mick

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:32

Dallas sex was glamorous though, EE sex isnt!
Still want the last year to have been a bad dream. Bring back roxy n ronnie..

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:35

There was a pic of DD on pointless aged 14. Looked the same and he is 40 now, hence the Carter 77 shirt on kitchen wall, which survived the roof caving in on it.
Why does fi sit in the kitchen to do the books? Why not downstairs ?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 29/07/2017 20:38

I feel better that your dh has an Ian polo shirt too MrsJ Grin

Yeah the Max storyline is getting a bit absurd now.

Lisa played a very convincing mad psychotic person. Bex looked a bit puzzled, she'll probably tell her mum and Sonia will stage an "intervention" or something.

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:41

Sonia will get lisa in therapy at dots in no time..tell me about the time you nearly killed phil or you nearly fell off a cliff..
No wonder shes unhinged.

Optimist1 · 29/07/2017 20:46

One of the lowest points of my sartorial life was when I realised that Pauline Fowler and I had the same cardigan! Blush

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:48

Optimist, thats ok. Got to love a cardie. Best item of clothing ever invented! ( am a fan)

MrsJayy · 29/07/2017 20:53

Oh i love a cardi I have the stripy shirt shirt shurl wears its very high end primark Grin

The80sweregreat · 29/07/2017 20:56

High end primark! Love that.

creamcheeseandlox · 29/07/2017 23:26

Carmel wears jeans. She's a fan of a coloured tight jean.

I forgot Carmel does. I was thinking more ordinary jeans and tshirt type instead of coloured or Shirley's bleached style.

BadHairDay0 · 30/07/2017 09:31

We call high end Primark "Primarni" lol

I have a theory on Lisa & Louise: I think abduction is on the cards, with Bex having an epiphany and saving Louise from crazy Louise's clutches on the beach or the hotel whose name she's written down. Shaki will help her and she'll fall in love with him again.

Max & Fi's plotting made me do a head-count of the number of businesses they've 'taken' so far: I counting the launderette, the community centre, the chippy, the local block of flats and the Vic. Anything I've missed? So still to come is the Albert (maybe Vincent will sell it to finance his villa?!), Beales, the mini-mart? The Arches? We know the market is under siege. But what's so appealing about buying out Walford? Where do all of those purchases get you? They're not going to able to build anything big because of all the residential properties, surely? Or am I missing something.

squoish · 30/07/2017 09:58

This plot is like children's TV. Evil Mr Big developer buys up all the buildings with the intention of destroying and changing beyond all recognition our beloved Albert Square. This will not happen, we know it won't unless the BBC is planning the axe the prog.

BadHairDay0 · 30/07/2017 10:37

Maybe Max Incorporated is going to build a huge Primarni. Or a tanning salon, to keep the residents happy - in shades of orange.

MrsJayy · 30/07/2017 13:27

Yy he will put the market out of bussiness cos primarni has moved in

The80sweregreat · 30/07/2017 13:52

The big Primarni, a 'Tantastic' salon for Sharon and a big Aldi to compensate for the loss of the mini mart.
The thing is, the ones Big and Max have taken over havent really been missed - i know that Jean and Ted miss their old flat, but they seemed to find the square ok up to now and the Taylors have become part of the local area too. whoever else was living in the flats have moved on.
The launderette is hardly mentioned any more and the residents have the other place in high street and their clothes all look clean enough.
The Vic has had a few problems, but it seems packed out and the new craft beers seem to be a winner. The chippy - ian seemed happy enough to sell it to them - there are other places to go for fast food.
I did read somewhere that the whole set is having a makeover, so maybe there is more to come with the 'buyouts' - just so far it hasnt made much difference. losing the market will be the big one though - they love that market.

MrsJayy · 30/07/2017 14:03

Yes i think i read that too so we are seeing more out of square stuff because they are refurbing

The80sweregreat · 30/07/2017 14:07

It came up when there was the row over how much presenters and actors are paid -lots on facebook about how it should be axed and its a waste of the tv licence etc etc ( clearly not fans then!)
I can see their point i suppose, but the show has evolved ( watching the very first episode once a few years ago and i was amazed at how different and smaller everything seemed) and i guess there are things that need updating and so on.

southeastdweller · 30/07/2017 14:19

I'm assuming Fi and Max want to convert the buildings or knock them down to build flats. Three bedroom new build flats in zone three out east sell for north of £500k these days Shock.
