I noticed that too. I wonder if its more difficult to use teens in regular shows now with increased rules or something?

MrsJayy · 15/06/2017 07:55

Wanders in after being awol for days we have only just caught up. OH MY GOD it is so shit max the bean whispering charlie mumbiling and god knows whats going on with louise mitchel they are not your friends LOU tell them to do one. Tbh i just had it on as background noise but was missing you all so watched it

southeastdweller · 15/06/2017 07:56

Probably, but I'd have thought it'd be no problem to use teens who're 18 or 19 (like the girl who plays Bex).

MrsJayy · 15/06/2017 07:56

Working conditions for child actors have changed they can only work so many hours under 18.when chelle was a girl think it was different

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 15/06/2017 08:22

That's a good shout about them doing an Emmerdale, it's sort of realistic that the cockneys are out, hipsters are in but its making the show crap. It's morphing int Hollyoaks.

MrsJayy · 15/06/2017 08:29

Its a cross between hollyoaks and waterloo road it is so annoying although i am enjoying Abbie atm she turned into a right cowbag Babe taught her well.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 15/06/2017 08:33

I think having Danny Dire spewing rhyming slang is supposed to distract us, well its not working Grin

MrsJayy · 15/06/2017 08:40

He was behaving a few scenes after his 'holiday' but he is back not following script and talking nonsense.

The80sweregreat · 15/06/2017 10:00

must be a shortage of younger actors maybe - they didnt seem to have that trouble with Grange hill back in the day or in 85 when EE started and Ian and co were actually 16 as soup points out.
just read this whole thread and it seems we are all a bit bored with it just now - seems to be a bit directionless. The max thing is going to drag on and on i think too.
I have never been to Croydon ! I bet its a lot posher than Essex though!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 15/06/2017 11:07

Glad to see we're all still persevering with EE. I had to laugh at your comment MrsJ, I forced myself to watch last night's episode just so I could rejoin this thread Grin

Blondes I think "Pipe" means cry in cockney (pipe your eye). I'm impressed with your extensive knowledge of rhyming slang. I've learnt a few bits from dh. I've never meant anyone that spouts it as much as Mick though..

I'm predicting Max will find his brother a nanny. She'll be evil and make Jack's life hell while Max mwah ha ha's in the background.

New family tonight. Hope they're entertaining!

SoupDragon · 15/06/2017 11:26

it's sort of realistic that the cockneys are out, hipsters are in but its making the show crap

I wouldn't worry judging by the new family that is arriving!

Some bits of Croydon are posher than Essex, some bits are not!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 15/06/2017 12:34

Yes the new family could be the spanner in the works. Maybe they'll sort Zippy out. Grin

The80sweregreat · 15/06/2017 16:06

New family..reserving judgement.

MaddieElla · 15/06/2017 19:53

This new family. What utter utter dross!

MrsJayy · 15/06/2017 20:19

Not seen it yet but the mum of New family has been in it before she was a landlady (i think) linda knew

buddhasbelly · 15/06/2017 20:20

i'm just watching Tuesday nights. The box of fish fingers jack bought at the minute mart were tesco value ones...I dont know why anyone would want to know this but i was comparing the tesco value to the birds eye ones the other day for fish content Blush

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 15/06/2017 20:25

Interesting fish finger research, Buddha Grin

Someone else spotted that MrsJ or said she played Star's mum? I suppose they hope we won't remember Confused

Theycalledmethewildrose · 15/06/2017 20:31

Did anything happen tonight? Are the new family shouty?

Does anybody regularly watch anymore? I dip in and out of what was once religious viewing :-) Once it becomes full of new cast members, I will stop altogether. With another soap, I stopped when they introduced loads of new characters as I found I just didn't get involved from the start, it was a good time to wean myself off it.

dadoftwinboys6m · 15/06/2017 20:38

Stars mum has been in eastenders a few times Grin
The new family very shouty

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 15/06/2017 20:39

I just looked back at the thread. The new mum didn't play Star's mum. Ignore me! I should probably watch it before making comments..
I agree, Wildrose It's hard to follow if you dip in and out and there's new characters.

I found it odd that they introduced the old couple with the gun and then haven't featured them since.?

youarenotkiddingme · 15/06/2017 20:41

Equity rules use to be for under 14's I think.
I know when I was performing matinees and evenings I could do both everyday for 2 weeks but the younger kids could only do every other day and so there was an a and b cast.
That's also why many shows have 3 Matilda's etc!

I didn't get how Keegan was related to the Taylor's?

Iwantacampervan · 15/06/2017 20:42

I noticed the fish fingers too!
Did Bex get to her RE GCSE? She seemed to be with Louise all of the time.
I had strange goings on during tonight's episode (in fact far more interesting than the programme). It stopped twice, screen went black, and then it cut to a lady standing in front of the local SW weather map (not my region). Very odd but brightened up the evening.

youarenotkiddingme · 15/06/2017 20:44

Happened to me too!
Perhaps even EE knew their scenes were crap so they were distracting us Wink

southeastdweller · 15/06/2017 20:54

The new mum didn't play Star's mum. Ignore me!

Yes she did:

SoupDragon · 15/06/2017 20:55

The new mother, Karen Taylor, was the landlady and STar's mother. They were one and the same person. She was also Young Mo in the EE spin off Pat and Mo apparently.
