Wouldn't it occur to Kush or Kim that Dee is short of cash, she hasn't worked for weeks duhConfused

lazymum99 · 06/05/2017 13:55

I forgot that if she got sacked she could not claim JSA straight away. But denise has been paying national insurance contributions and would be entitled to contribution based JSA which I think (not sure) doesn't have the same restrictions.

Watching denise just makes me hungry its not doing me any good at all. I keep having to have a biscuit (or 2/3...) while she's on.

Akire · 06/05/2017 14:13

No it's still JSA so they ring old work and ask why she left to check, since she told them to stick it she would be sanctioned and this..

Your benefits if you resign. Your Jobs and Benefits Office can delay your Jobseeker's Allowance for up to 26 weeks if you've voluntarily quit without good reason. ... If you cannot claim Jobseeker's Allowance, you may still be able to claim a hardship payment, which is a reduced amount of Jobseeker's Allowance. Given she has no kids and lives with her father not sure she qualify for that. And she have pay them back.

OutToGetYou · 06/05/2017 14:28

She lives with her father?

Akire · 06/05/2017 14:46

Well Patrick plays the role of Dad but she knows he isnt

NoisyBrain · 06/05/2017 15:00

woodhill yep, that.
OK, Kim is really self-absorbed so maybe I could just about believe that she wouldn't think of it, but Kush? It's utterly ridiculous.

nancy75 · 06/05/2017 16:17

Every storyline at the moment is crap.
Kush noticed Dee had no food & knows she doesn't have a job, his first thought is she is in a diet?
Dee revising for one poxy GCSE as if it's an exam to become the worlds greatest brain surgeon. What exactly does she think this one GCSE is going to do for her?
Why hasn't she been to the dole & at least got the ball rolling with JSA or something?
The louise bully storyline - just how dim is Sharon? She has barbie hair & obviously a barbie brain to go with it.
Charlie comes back, we obviously are all supposed to feel soooo sorry for Jack, but Charlie is Matthews dad and only left because Ronnie was a total but job & Vincent threatened him

Cary2012 · 06/05/2017 16:55

I too thought it daft that Denise was looking at sandwiches to buy! And the way she bangs on about one GCSE at her age is beyond daft. Good old 'Enders, getting her to spout on about An Inspector Calls...well done scriptwriters, we know it's on the syllabus, it's been on for the last five years at least. Denise saying it's about 'fis smug famlee 'aving a dinner par'ee when fis Inspector bloke knocks at the door' doesn't bode well for results day in August; actually dear little Denise, it's about socialism v capitalism and Priestley's swipe at society. Hope I'm right, because that's what I'm teaching the year 11s at the moment, most of which are doing Lit, Lang and a handful of other subjects, bless them.

And the way she fell on the meal, like she hadn't eaten for a month!

Still all will work out for our Denise; she will scrape a C grade, get funding for an OU degree which she will gain a First in, then she will will be Dee BA ('ons). She will write bestsellers and critical essays and give lectures all over the East End.

The80sweregreat · 06/05/2017 17:02

cary, my son did Priestley in 2009! It is a brilliant play ( very apt for today as well i think..)
I thought that last night might resolve the bullying story line , but it rumbles on next week too.
I am shocked that Sharon didnt have a dig about her previous 'anti drinking' speech ( she doesnt know her drinks were spiked.) mind you, if she actually took care of her son and Louise, she might have more of an idea of what is really up with these girls ( who i hate more every time i see their smug little faces!)

Akire · 06/05/2017 18:10

You don't get funding for OU degrees anymore. About 10y ago when I started mine I got discount on low wage but now gov scrapped part time students help. So instead of a module costing say £350 it's about £1200 so you leave with same debt as full time student and are expected to take out student loans since part timers now qualify!

Though at her age it be big choice to get into 30-40k debt even if she does over 7-8y and surely they can't keep story line for that long.

Just watching Friday's again, loving the new fake person on the end phone they managing to put on calls.

inaclearingstandsaboxer · 06/05/2017 18:13

Kat and Alfie thing is being advertised on Telly

Akire · 06/05/2017 18:23

P.s I did an inspection calls gcse English counts on fingers 27yeats ago!

EnidButton · 06/05/2017 18:44

Me too Akire! 20 years ago.

Akire · 06/05/2017 18:48

In those days you had to read book and make up what they were on about. Now days can google all possible what's it all about in seconds. Job done!

EnidButton · 06/05/2017 19:11

I do sometimes think how much easier it must be wrote an essay now. Especially with something like English Literature. Less fun though. (I loved Eng lit)

EnidButton · 06/05/2017 19:12

Be to write.

The80sweregreat · 06/05/2017 19:24

The Kat n Alfie thing is called Redwater. The trailor looks more like ' dead in the water'

southeastdweller · 06/05/2017 19:33

This daft story with Denise and having no money would actually carry some weight if she had no-one to turn to. Terrible writing so far but I'm hoping the writers have done their research re the next development, which happens next week.

Cary2012 · 06/05/2017 20:15

About time An Inspector was binned then! I had ten years teaching Of Mice and Men which I loved, but thank heavens they dropped it. Lennie and his rabbits and Crooks and his gold rimmed specs and Curley's 'jailbait' wife with her sausage curls and ostrich feathered heels....what would Denise make of it all?

I did OU, loved it, my TA is currently doing it with funding, perhaps a bursary?? The fees are so high now that I'm soooo glad I did it years ago as there's no way I'd be able to fund it now. But this is 'Enders, so we will suspend reality and watch our Denise morph into the Sylvia Plath of the East End...

EnidButton · 06/05/2017 20:20

That would make Kush Ted Hughes though and Kush is far too lovely.

Maybe they were going to do it with Dot but changed their kinds when June Brown had time off for her eye op?

It'd make slightly more sense with her losing her job and she's a very private person.

woodhill · 06/05/2017 20:56

Perhaps she'll stick her head in an oven with any luck.

The80sweregreat · 06/05/2017 20:59

Woodhill, harsh! Lol

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 07/05/2017 10:42

The house that Denise lives in was a 2-House B&B when Yolande lived there (the same Yolande who interviwed Denise in Manchester or Birmingham about the Miniute Mart recently)

I know they were split back to single abodes. Was the other house Kims? Did she sell it? Who lives there now?

Could Denise go back into running the B&B? The rooms would still have the ensuites wouldn't they?

Akire · 07/05/2017 15:31

It's bit vague but think her and Kim and Patrick owned the BB and she wanted sell her share last year. So had nice out ages while they divided it back up. But in theory must have least spare bed room or two so could let it out.
Though when she was Patrick's carer she could have let it out for one night a week and made money.

Meant say nice having Derick back but hate way made him seem incapable of coping in working on shop.

Not see Stacey for while she's bound have 4m bump next time we do.

Theycalledmethewildrose · 07/05/2017 17:25

We saw Stacey the night of Louise's party. She was closing the curtains and saw everybody going to the party. Didn't notice the bump. Another Xmas baby I suppose.
