Of course there's always Superintendent Hastings ...

I can't see it being him - for me he represents integrity fighting against the self servicing career politicians within the force.

It would be too awful if he turned out to be corrupt.

Indaba · 21/04/2017 15:30

WING MIRROR SPIDER* I salute your dedication. Didn't cram that hard for my university degree! 😀

gaggiagirl · 21/04/2017 15:38

The actor who plays Ifield, he had a little girl that very sadly died of sepsis. He was raising awareness of it on loose women. Very sad. My heart breaks for him and his family.

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 15:45

Perhaps LOD is raising awareness of sepsis?

That may sound far fetched but I for one have been researching it .

I'm now aware of the symptoms and of how quickly a seemingly minor infection can escalate.

gaggiagirl · 21/04/2017 15:53

I did wonder that ktel I think him and his wife were on quite a few day time shows raising awareness. I've donated to them, I too wasn't aware until I saw loose women.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 17:08

OK...

The wounds on Roz's wrist are 3 long / deep scratches. This would tie in with Tim's fingers...this is clearly what we are meant to think.

Steve's attacker is wearing work boots, not smart shoes. Even if Nick had got a jacket and balaclava on, there's no way he'd have had time to change his footwear. And a corporate lawyer doesn't wear work boots to the office!

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 17:23

And...possible continuity error: when Roz left the house to go to Tim's, it was light (I think). By the time the CCTV picked up Nick's car it was dark (17.01, apparently). How far away did he live?!

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 17:26

There's something dodgy/odd about Nick but I don't think he's involved with anything violent.

He seems afraid of his own shadow unable to cope with things.

His problem may be that he is easily lead/manipulated and may have become involved with something because of this.

Roz , as awful as she is with him, will be shown to have some justification I think.

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 17:56

Was it mentioned which department Jamie was working in before moving to AC12?

He may have been working on the investigation into the criminal network that runs throughout the series.

I'll take another look at the episode when he was introduced

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 17:59

I've just watched it and didn't notice.

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 17:59

I think he's somehow connected but in what capacity is the question.

ElasticFirecracker · 21/04/2017 18:16

Re: why did Tim Ifield have Balaclava Man costume at his flat.

Someone asked this up the tread. Sorry have forgotten name. I wondered about this, because in his back pack he not only had the BM costume, but various other bits of evidence in bags.

Evidence shouldn't be kept in his backpack but should be in the evidence store, so maybe he removed the balaclava man costume from Michael Farmer's house together with other selected bits of evidence.

I17neednumbers · 21/04/2017 18:25

I know this has been discussed before - the convo about Roz's deliberately left behind phone.

Nick does tell Roz he picked it up when he went after her on 'Tim night'. Did he switch it off or something - otherwise surely it would have shown that it had gone to sit outside Tim's flat?

buggerthebotox · 21/04/2017 18:28

Could Tim be some sort of fantasist? Balaclava Man could be part of a fantasy, played out by Tim, either as a nod to the "real" BM, or as a bit of a sideline totally unconnected with BM himself/herself.

How many sightings of BM have there been?

Afaik-BM in the "biometrics" image.
Tim's BM outside the diy store.
Steve's assailant, seen by him/us and then leaving the building.
The BM who abducted Hana.

Any more? I can't remember any other witnesses to a sighting.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 18:38

It was turned off by Roz, 117, before she left.

I17neednumbers · 21/04/2017 18:41

Going back to the scene where Roz looks up balman 'biometrics' on the laptop. Yes, she is very upset.
I think it's either because she realises that Tim took all his evidence to AC12 - there was obviously also a report on the laptop that kept mentioning Huntley, so she realises she's not going to get away with having ignored the evidence exculpating Farmer. OR it's something to do with the shoe size - she realises who balman may be. And that makes her very sad.

I17neednumbers · 21/04/2017 18:42

Ah, thanks Noword that explains all (about the phone I mean - obviously there is much left to be explained!).

I17neednumbers · 21/04/2017 18:52

Is Roz crying (after logging into the laptop) because she realises she went to see Tim for nothing - he'd already gone to AC12 by then. So going to see him was pointless anyway. That would be enough to make most people cry I suppose!

Optimist1 · 21/04/2017 18:53

Fluffy - I noticed that thing about the CCTV footage appearing to be at night and thought it was odd. Then last night I was watching The Detectives : Inside the Major Crimes Team and there was a fair bit of CCTV involved in that - they appeared to alter the footage to a "dark" mode to see more details of the people they were looking at. No idea what the science behind that is, but it might be what the LOD people are doing! Smile

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 18:54

I17neednumbers-Yes it could be that- frustration/exasperation

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 19:38

Ooh, that's interesting, Optimist

It's the middle of March, so would definitely be light at 5pm, so I like that theory. 😁

Fiderer · 21/04/2017 20:02

"BM" I keep reading as Batman. Which is Wrong Grin

Ferrisday · 21/04/2017 20:29

Tim's balaclava had a big label on it. Not sure whether that is meant to suggest that's it's new. Or what that means anyway!
And yes he had other bits of forensic evidence in bags. Cigarette butts, hair. No way he should be carrying them around?

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 20:32

Yeah, that was weird, Ferris Why would he have it (unless it's for planting AT crime scenes, not FROM one)?

And yep, there was a huge tag on the balaclava.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 20:37

Oh, I've checked again, Optimist

The camera says 18.36 and it's dark (all cars have headlights). Must be a continuity thing. 🤔

#over-invested.
