Just realized 'despite being pregnant' might come across badly in my post. I meant it specifically in reference to how the personnel, force and departments are shown to be in this series, not my own opinion obviously. Although at one point Hilton did say to Ros that he's stuck his neck out plenty for her when others would've taken her off the case and that he has 'every confidence in you'

If you want to hear more of Martin's accent, then watch Sweet Sixteen, directed by Ken Loach, Monach Of The Glen, and In Plain Sight.

After being returned to the cell with the dirty protest as well. Are we meant to think he did that himself? or, other inmates who might have found out he's got previous from the Sex Offender Register

He didn't do it himself. His reaction was shock/disgust/horror/despair.

During dinner table conversation the evening after Tim's murder, Nick said he hadn't been home because he went for a drink with Jimmy - first mention of that name - so I am assuming for now that Jimmy couldn't have been involved with Tim's death.

I think Nick was lying. He paused before he said it, and looked shifty. I thought initially that he was covering up that he'd been out with an OW; I'm not so sure about that now, but I still think he was NOT out with 'Jimmy' that night.

@OutToGetYou I think you got lucky finding complete episodes on You Tube. I can only find broken links and trailers, except for one complete back episode.

I have found a page of scripts, but strangely only one from Series 1
www.bbc.co.uk/writersroom/scripts/line-of-duty

Sapphire I think Nick's been lying about his whereabouts too and it fleetingly crossed my mind if Ros's breakdown on seeing the image of BM on Ifield's computer, was because she recognized who it might be Hmm

What shoe size is Nick, anyone know?

Fiderer · 21/04/2017 11:38

Have reported spammy user ^^

SapphireStrange · 21/04/2017 11:44

What shoe size is Nick, anyone know?

I don't think we know, but hopefully they'll look into that.

Arkengarthdale · 21/04/2017 12:07

Me too ^^

OutToGetYou · 21/04/2017 12:28

We know, don't we, that Nick followed Roz - his first response that he was with a mate was a lie and than later he admitted to her in the car that he had followed her and saw her get the cab, he now knows she did that because she knew there was a traffic cam which is the one that caught his car (but not her).

I initially though Roz and Tim had history.

re Tim's phone.....surely the battery would be dead by now? My iphone lasts about three days and I never use it at all. Also, once I've switched it off I can't use the fingerprint log in, has to be the password, and if I want to change the password I have to put the old password in first......so surely she can't just be using his cold, dead, bloody fingers all this time? I reckon she got the log ins somehow.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 12:48

She typed a password into the laptop before doing the 'biometrics' search which had her in tears.

It was the day of the abduction that Nick was drinking with Jimmy (allegedly), not the night of Tim's murder when he followed her.

I agree he looked shifty when he said it though.

buggerthebotox · 21/04/2017 12:53

I was puzzled by Roz's reaction to the pic of BM too. The only emotion she's shown. Hmm.

OutToGetYou · 21/04/2017 13:22

How would she get his passwords? There has to be something in that. Someone else murdered him, she came back to see him, he was dying and told her the passwords to give her a chance to find out who killed him/clear Farmer? She didn't call in his murder as her DNA was all over the crime scene plus no reason for her to be there?

buggerthebotox · 21/04/2017 13:30

Interesting point, out. Tim is a belt and braces guy. He's paranoid about security. There may be a reason why Roz knows his password. Or..was the laptop page already open?

She typed in "biometrics" I think.

I don't think Roz killed Tim either.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/04/2017 13:36

But before any of that she had to escape from being flat on her back on the protective sheeting with Ifield looming over her all suited up and wielding an electric saw towards her head . How on earth did she manage that? but surely her wrist injury must've been sustained at that time? We just don't know and haven't yet got any clue as to who else may have been there to help her.

He could've had his lap top unlocked at home, but then to change the password she'd need to have had the original and we know how security conscious Ifield was because they've told us he had nothing backed up to the cloud. Roz can't charge up or turn his phone on incase she gives its location away, can she?

The amputated fingers and all the bloody debris from that night must be stinking to high heaven somewhere by now.

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 13:39

The more I re watch and think about it the less clear it becomes.

I've been trying to determine who within the force is working for the criminal gang.

There is the "2 faced bastard" that Tommy Hunter referred to who would be at the top of the chain as well as other less powerful "soldiers" .

Originally I suspected Buckells of being involved but he is at odds with Roz and said he doubted Farmer's guilt .

This doesn't mean he isn't involved at all but doesn't appear to be in on the frame job.

Hilton seems too obvious to be the "2 faced bastard" - I think he's despicable but not necessarily criminal.

It would have to be someone very powerful within the force. Who else have we seen that might fit the bill?

We've never seen Hilton's boss the Chief Constable have we?

There was Steve's old boss in series 1 when he was at counter terrorism,we haven't seen him since.

I hope it's someone that we know already.

Ferrisday · 21/04/2017 13:50

I asked that ages ago, about why she broke down in the garage after seeing that Tim had sent the BM picture to AC12.

Nick looks shifty and lies about going for a drink with Jimmy, because he followed Ros in the car, that's what he was lying about, night after Tim's murder. Although he could've done other stuff that night too. He was at the staff function for the first murder. Jan 25th.
And... BM left the baseball bat on the 3rd floor, he didn't take it with him. Where's that?

WingMirrorSpider · 21/04/2017 13:54

This is the first series I've watched, but I'm hooked. Since Last Sunday's episode I found it on Netflix and finished series one and two since then Blush.

I've just gone to start watching series 3 and it's not there - only the first two. I'm gutted!

hoddtastic · 21/04/2017 13:55

the 2 faced bastard was sorted last series no? the guy who was the chf supt who got the blowjob off of Carly Kirk?

They went through that one and on that day he'd done a press conference of sorts no? (May have got ranks wrong here!)

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/04/2017 13:59

We've never seen Hilton's boss the Chief Constable have we?

Hilton's Acting Chief Constable in this series isn't he? Not having seen earlier ones, I don't know when he was made up to that role, or where the CC has gone to?

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 14:15

It was assumed at the time that Hunter was referring to Dryden but it turned out that he wasn't involved so we still don't know who the TBB is.

ACC stands for Assistant Chief Constable. He keeps referring to his meetings with the chief and wanting to give him results/keep him happy etc.

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 14:16

The trial of Dryden related to his cover up of his wife's drink driving .

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 14:18

Dryden was set up by the gang with Carly. They had intended to blackmail him I think.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/04/2017 14:27

@ktel1 aaah thanks, my mistake.

I know Hilton is on about results and pressure, so stupid me. I think I've conflated his role now with the real life situation with the Met's Acting Commissioner at the time of the Westminster attack Blush
Lots of As and Cs to be remembering.

ktel1 · 21/04/2017 14:34

I've been looking up the rank structure within the police force .

Pc, Sergeant, Inspector,Chief Inspector, Superintendent, Chief Superintendent, Assistant Chief Constable, Deputy Chief Constable and Chief Constable.

The higher ups I recall seeing during the series are Chief Inspector Osborne (Steve's boss in counter terrorism) , Deputy Chief Constable Dryden and Assistant Chief Constable Hilton.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/04/2017 15:02

I was just doing the same think on Wikipedia Grin
So, Hilton has two superior officers then, the Deputy Chief Constable and the Chief Constable. Neither of whom we know anything about?
