Just watching so 1 again. Roz appears far too calm and collected in a live crime scene, she is also rigid as to what needs to happen with falmer. Definitely a set up I reckon and Tim I field is closing in on it!

I17neednumbers · 21/04/2017 21:21

Also a strange bit where she tells Jodie to set up the log and say 'dI Huntley has arrived and has taken charge of the investigation'. They don't usually say that - why does she need to establish that she's arrived at a particular time?

Maybe she mistakenly thinks Nick is the killer and has been unnecessarily trying to protect him? But then no reason to suspect Nick, as he was at his work function on one of the dates.

beargrass · 21/04/2017 21:27

numbers I thought that was to assert her authority

ewanthedreamsheep · 21/04/2017 22:32

I'm guessing Tim had the balaclava for doing forensic testing in his own time, to see what fibres it would leave maybe (he was obviously dong his own investigations, such as getting Hanna's fingerprint).

I17neednumbers · 22/04/2017 08:09

ah that's exactly right beargrass, she wanted there to be no doubt that she was in control - presumably because she's been criticised for lack of progress so far.
good theory about Tim carrying out his own investigations on the balaclava. Still not sure why he had cigarette stubs in that bag though - how would they help his research?!

ZenaThor · 22/04/2017 08:45

Loving this thread and all the theoriesSmile Having just binge watched all 22 previous episodes over the last few days to bring me up to date my head is fried! Haven't loved a show as much as this in ages-I'll be bereft when it's over.

I never watched this when it was broadcast but think someone said upthread that because of move to BBC 1 there wouldn't be much of a tie to the previous storylines so maybe so will a link to Tommy hunter and all those crims happen?

Also think Roz was crying/frustrated when she was looking at Tims laptop because she knew her setup of Farmer was falling apart and her career saving move therefore. I just don't feel it's Nick as BM too obvious although maybe Roz knows about his liking for prostitutes and maybe murdering them and is setting up Farmer to protect him and the family and her own rep.

Just my 2 pennies worth -can't wait for tomorrow nights episode

DispatchReady · 22/04/2017 09:08

Rewatched ep 2. In the interview it was much more obvious this time around that there's no real evidence to convict Farmer, definitely some sort of set up. Beyond that I still don't know anything more!

Best line - Hastings talking about running around with one of Pan's People! One for the oldies! Grin

Not sure about the cigarette stubbs, but I think the only smoker that we've seen so far is Kevin?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 22/04/2017 09:49

Martin Compston on Soccer AM now !

buggerthebotox · 22/04/2017 09:55

Interesting point about the smoking. I believe there must be a forensic link to the cleanliness of the flat, the isolated blood spatter, the planted evidence on Leonie's body which mysteriously appeared at second post mortem. Kevin?

Perhaps Ifield was on to him, collected his stubs for analysis.

Who's Jodie's "mate" in Foresnsics? Jodie has mates?Grin

I think Steve's BM was a random thug, set up maybe by Jimmy. I think there is an historical connection between Jimmy and Nick; Jimmy needs to protect Nick for some reason. Was Nick ever a criminal lawyer? Perhaps he was a bit leaky and unreliable, with links to the Underworld? Roz gave up her career to help Nick get ahead in hers, but Nick didn't make it and switched to Corporate Law as a cover for either his or someone else's activities. Roz resents this and it's this that's at the centre of their dysfunctional relationship.

I think there are enough unresolved goings on from previous series to link to this one. Jackie's body has never been found. The body that was thought to be Carly is unresolved. The Caddy is no more, Tommy is no more but there must be others.

My favourite line so far is Jimmy's "Tone down the Ian Paisley" aimed at Hastings.

I loved the Pan's People line too(yes, I'm an oldie).

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 22/04/2017 11:06

NavyandWhite I think it's well worth watching the four episodes again with the benefit of what's been revealed as we go on.

I'm having a private fantasy story line right now about Jodie being an undercover mole and her sucking up to Roz being a cover that's taken everyone in.

The overwriting on the replaced KRG-13 evidence bag would've been a massive alert as well as planting the DNA on Leonie's remains and then Roz being the one to ask for re-examination. So are they manipulating this behind the AC-12 investigation, maybe via Jodie and not revealing all their cards to Roz yet. That sounds a bit vague, I haven't quite made it all fit yet.

I17neednumbers · 22/04/2017 11:34

Ooh yes maybe Someone's Watching You referred to Jodie - in which case who tipped Roz off?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 22/04/2017 11:36

bugger that's brilliant ! (Just realised how that sounds...)

I assumed Roz planted that but you're so right ; it could be Kevin : explains why he was so arsey with Roz.*

Also : re the blood spatter. That's where Roz hit her head. If she cleaned the flat would that not have been the first place she cleaned??? That's always seemed very odd to me that that was the one area not cleaned....

  • plus he's a relatively well known actor...
EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 22/04/2017 13:03

I suppose whoever cleaned the flat was only looking for the mess created by Ifield's death because they had no knowledge of Roz hitting her head and being wounded that way.

I'd assumed Roz had planted Ifield's DNA on Leonie's remains because of us seeing her taking extra swabs from the bag of gore. She went twice into the Forensics Store didn't she, another occasion after the time she swapped the bag with her own blood sample in.

Roz had the tip off about being watched via the post it note on her computer and she's also been given inside information about Kate. Is this from the same or different sources, what exactly did Hilton tell her apart from writing the letter of authority?

What's the relationship like between Roz and Neil?

Damn, this is so complex. My brain's frazzled. I need to watch again Blush

OutToGetYou · 22/04/2017 13:40

Just watched episode 1 again (third time!) - Ifield's balaclava and jacket are both in polythene looking brand new.

When Roz rings the bell at I field's flat he very pointedly looks at his watch, this implies to me that he is expecting someone but it's too early. So, Hana? Someone else? Obvs they don't get there before he gets back from B&Q though.
So he can't have been cooking for two I don't think.

Nick def told Roz in episode 2 that he was having a drink with Jimmy the night she went to Ifield's flat. He also notices her wrist injury at the same meal.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2017 13:53

I thought Nick was 'with Jimmy' the night of the abduction, as she asked why he hadn't been home when she had to leave. Maybe I'm wrong, but he was at home when she left on the night of Ifield's murder, so why would she question where he was? I need a 4th re-watch! 😂

I17neednumbers · 22/04/2017 13:56

She questions where Nick was because she discovers from the missed call on her phone (which was switched off though?) that the 'kids' phoned her that evening to ask if they could order pizza. Hence she knew that Nick must have been out. Do you see missed calls if your phone has been switched off though?

Watch a 4th time anyway - it's gripping enough!

buggerthebotox · 22/04/2017 14:13

I'm wondering about those very silent kids. How old are they? Could they be donning balaclavas when Roz is out? Perhaps the "pizza" request was a ruse to check Roz was not around, or "Nandos" is an euph for some covert balaclava action?

Perhaps one of them is BM, Roz knows, or suspects, and that's why she collapsed on seeing the biometrics? ShockGrin.

I17neednumbers · 22/04/2017 14:20

Were both 'the kids' at home when Roz got 'the call' about the abduction of Hana - I only remember seeing the younger one in that scene. If not then the older one could be balman?

NoWordForFluffy · 22/04/2017 14:30

Ah yes, the pizza call! How could I forget?

OutToGetYou · 22/04/2017 14:38

She questioned where he was because the kids 'left a message'. He said he was having a drink with Jimmy, she then says 'so it's OK for you to go for a drink but you're asking me about going to work?'

I'd say the kids are about 12 and 14, both plugged into devices constantly. This is consistent with my experience of teenagers and tweenies!

They look too slight to be BM. We only saw the younger when she rushed off but she said to Nick 'I've got the/a call, where are you' he said sorry, his meeting overran, she said 'the kids are waiting for you' he says he's two minutes away, she says, for some obscure reason (and, there is never any 'obscure reason', is there?) 'I've put the bins out', camera focuses on bins, she puts the lights on and drives off.

Bins.....?

Over the course of the series the overarching theme is the criminal gang and their associates- associates within the police force and other areas of the community.

In each series there is a crime that is then covered up by the gang in league with members of the force.

This often involves blackmailing/framing someone else for the crime.

Who is being blackmailed/framed in this series?

Series 1
The Moss Heath murders related to a drug operation.
Gates blackmailed over Jackie's murder.
Tommy Hunter makes a deal for information over the fabricated terrorist plot and enters witness protection

Series 2
Tommy Hunter's murder - Denton takes the fall.
Caddy claimed to be Cole the dead vice cop.

Series 3
Historic child abuse cover up
Steve framed as the caddy.

In this series I think Nick is connected to the criminal gang- handling their business/money laundering or something.

Roz is being blackmailed due to Nick's connection.

Michael Farmer is being framed.

Who are the ring leaders currently?

Tommy Hunter was killed by the gang- who took over ,is that Lakewell?

Who's the 2 faced bastard within the force? -Hilton or possibly Osborne?

The Mason's keeps cropping up so perhaps it will emerge is that Lakewell, the 2FB , other elements involved are in The Masons.

Hilton was involved in the Hunter deal as was Osborne who was head of counter terrorism.

McClure said on Graham Nortton 'so much more happens', so there's loads of stuff to come that we've not got wind of yet.

When AC12 (why did no-one wonder why AC12 were at Tim's flat in the first place) found Tim's body Kate tells Steve that Roz had no idea Tim was in contact with them - but we know she did, that was what the breakdown when she found the Biometrics email on Tim's laptop was all about.
