Foonababoona

Yes those officers were in vice.

It looks as though what's going on now is related to a prostitution so that would tie in.

The prostitutes may have been killed by someone in the criminal network and Michael Farmer is being framed as a cover up.

Fiderer · 20/04/2017 21:27

Didn't Hastings say that whoever killed Ilfield had forensic knowledge?

helzapoppin2 · 20/04/2017 21:41

I'm rewatching, but none the wiser. I just want to applaud Scott Reid, who plays Michael Farmer. He is totally convincing, and quite heartbreaking, and a fantastic actor, and no, I am not his mum!

tribpot · 20/04/2017 21:48

Fiderer yes, because the scene was so clean. But of course that was because Tim prepared it in order to off Ros.

lazycrazyhazy · 20/04/2017 21:49

Sepsis is truly terrifying. My DH went from 100% well to critically ill in half an hour. My DS's partner got maternal sepsis - which I'd never even heard of - and - same with her - well, then crash c section half an hour later. I'm sure that's what they're building up to with Roz. I also expected her to keel over or drip onto the desk. Surely they'll spot the lack of use on replay!

CoolCarrie · 20/04/2017 21:49

A pp mentioned that Michael Farmer could been a victim of abuse by someone in the Danny case, possibly

Fiderer · 20/04/2017 21:54

tribpot Ah, hadn't thought of that. So he thought she was dead, pulse felt, went off to B&Q place to kit himself out, went back & when he started on Operation KillRoz (I'd help) she did her revival thing?

Still don't get why there's been no mention of his Wall of Evidence? Or did I miss that? Would have added to the case against Roz, surely.

CoolCarrie · 20/04/2017 22:02

Martin Compston is on ITV The Nightly Show tonight 10.00pm Now!

Tillymintsmama · 20/04/2017 22:24

Its really weird hearing his real life Scottish accent! And he admitted Arnott is a wanker haha!

OutToGetYou · 20/04/2017 22:37

They did mention the evidence wall - just in passing though.

I think Farmer is too young to be have been in that abuse case, it went back over 20 years, he's only early 20's.

The thing I thought was weird about Ifield and the chain saw was - who the hell chops up a dead body by cutting the head longways? Surely you cut the limbs off/cut the head off - not go at it longways? But I guess it just made for a more dramatic scene when she opened her eyes.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 20/04/2017 22:47

Out I think it might just have been camera angle, he was probably going for a limb. Looked more dramatic that way.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 20/04/2017 22:55

Whether Roz killed Ifield or not, she still has that 'grim' bag with his clothes/fingers in her possession. I don't think we've seen her get rid of it yet.

DispatchReady · 20/04/2017 23:24

I'm over invested as just watched episode 1 again to get more clues! Lots of things I'd forgotten or didn't pick up on, like Hilton calling Huntley at the crime scene, and yes it looked like Hana was clipped by the car by accident. Lots of meaningful looks and jibes by Kate and Steve too - she says something about him going undercover and mucking it up!

Very weird how Tim had a balaclava. Also we didn't see how Ros got her manky arm did we? That's to come in a flashback I guess.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/04/2017 06:14

Martin Compston was on the nightly show last night. He was laughing about how he's made Steve annoying - like an over dressed wanker in a call centre Grin.

NoWordForFluffy · 21/04/2017 06:55

I've re-watched episodes 1 and 2 twice this week. I've downloaded 3 and 4 to watch on the train this afternoon. I've not picked up much more. In fact I'm still not sure when Roz planted Tim's DNA in relation to the prostitute's murder (because I've not spotted it, that's my assumption!).

iwanttobemissmarple · 21/04/2017 07:24

Finally watched LOD & caught up on the thread. An achievement for me! Did anyone scream out load NOOOOO when Maneet appeared out of the shadows? Had dh running to see what was wrong Grin

I think Hilton must be involved somewhere along the line. Possibly BM. Or not. I really don't know.

Definitely weird relationship between Roz & Nick. The family dynamics is certainly 'off' for want of a better word.

I saw the trailer for the next episode & I was going to say pretty much the same as the female in the trailer. Not saying anymore as don't want to spoil it for others.

Won't be watching it till Thursday next week as I'm awaySad

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 21/04/2017 07:31

Maybe Nick as some kind of early onset dementia? Roz does seem to be frustrated with him , and they have a peculiar dynamic. Also, he keeps forgetting stuff ... and seems quite childlike in his dependence on people. His memory is definitely shonky.

Long shot theory!

FeralBeryl · 21/04/2017 07:34

Star for Beans.
Winner of randomest theory of the day Grin
I do like it though...

Anyone else beat that one?

Everyone who heard MC's real voice on the Nightly show - isn't it a travesty that we aren't hearing that accent in the programme?

OP posts:
buggerthebotox · 21/04/2017 07:54

Nick is very childlike. Definitely something off about him. And the family dynamic is weird, what with those silent kids.

My money for Steve's attacker is the Security Guard: he let Steve in, knew where he was heading, and just about enough time to stick on a jumper and a balaclava and wham! Why wasn't he questioned in more depth? I think his shoes were right too.

MidnightHag · 21/04/2017 08:11

sorry if someone has mentioned this already (and I'm only at the start of ep 4 on iPlayer) but when they enhanced the photo of Nick/Roz's car to get the registration number, it enhanced the image of the driver too. So surely they would be able to see it's not Nick (if it wasn't Nick Confused).

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 21/04/2017 08:21

I'm guessing they assumed it was -and would enhance it if he denied it ?

KenDoddsDadsDog · 21/04/2017 09:20

Yes ferylberyl his accent is lovely.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/04/2017 10:25

I rewatched some of it last night too as it's really got under my skin.

I answered my own question about public knowledge of the abductor/murderer wearing a balaclava, yes, it was made known. I also clarified about the victims. At the start Baswinder Kaur's body had been found. The trophy from her was a jewelled hair clip. Leonie Collersdale, however, was missing, it was her body which was found later on, not a third body. The trophy found in Farmer's house was a necklace. When questioned about those items in interview, Farmer says 'Not sure' to identifying both.

It puzzles me then, when they'd only found one body, why Operation Trapdoor was searching for a 'Serial Killer' because the operation had been running for months, but they only had one body?

At least watching it again I'm a bit clearer on Ifield's queries about the Trophy Evidence being planted and about Farmer's age (23-24) learning difficulties and lack of driving licence.

I felt really sorry for Farmer, especially after his 'I want to help' comment and the fact that his Solicitor could hardly be bothered to stay awake during the Police interviews. After being returned to the cell with the dirty protest as well. Are we meant to think he did that himself? or, other inmates who might have found out he's got previous from the Sex Offender Register

Whywaitfortomorrow · 21/04/2017 10:54

During dinner table conversation the evening after Tim's murder, Nick said he hadn't been home because he went for a drink with Jimmy - first mention of that name - so I am assuming for now that Jimmy couldn't have been involved with Tim's death.

When Roz finds out that Tim had supplied a photo of BM to Steve, she breaks down in the garage, not sure if it was realisation of what was happening or because weirdly, there was something going on between her and Tim. I can't see really believe that but her reaction was like someone who had been betrayed. The only emotion she has really shown. On the otherhand, it could be that she realised its not going to be as easy as originally thought to frame Farmer and it isn't actually 'over' - only just beginning.

The type of relationship she has with her husband and with Hilton is being slowly revealed each episode. Nick has turned out to be a wuss and Hilton, a pervy smarmy boss in it for himself. When he comes in to get a catch up on Trapdoor, he says to Buckles something like, "At least we can still call them prostitutes" referring to Buckells comment about Leonie and further embedding the sexist undercurrent - Roz refers to them as women but as soon as she's off the case, boys can call them prostitutes.

I am just wondering if there was something between Roz and Tim and we will find out they were actually having some kind of relationship. Very unLOD but stranger things have happened. He was so eager to dob her in to AC12.

What if Nick turns out to be Jacky Laverty's business lawyer.

I have realised I am spending too much time thinking about this damn programme and I actually haven't a clue !!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 21/04/2017 11:11

I wouldn't want Nick as my corporate lawyer. He's not exactly dynamic is he.

Beans I do like a longshot theory. Mine, at the moment involves Maneet. It involves her being a super undercover agent and gaining a spectacular promotion despite being pregnant. That'd be a great overturn of all the sexism in this series Grin I really like her succinct one line replies like 'that's what we've been doing' Grin
