I have also wondered if it was really Tommy Hunter who died in the ambush in series two by the way - that wouldn't be hard to fake.......

Whywaitfortomorrow · 19/04/2017 23:40

Despite supposedly being standalone, there are references being made to things that happened in previous series. Like Buckells being taken to one side, Jamie dig at Steve about getting involved with witnesses, etc, etc. At end of S1, Hilton was very chummy and all smiles with Hunter which was very odd. Didn't notice this first time round. Literally 10 seconds before credits. I think we have not seen the end of that list.
I am liking the thought that Farmer was already known because he might have been in the care home from S3.
I think S4 is the most complicated yet. I literally have to rewatch each episode at least twice.
What has Roz done with the bag with the fingers and clothes. And laptop/phone. She can't charge/access phone because it might trigger triangulation (?). And laptop contains cctv footage of her innocence/guilt. She is out of the house so much surely she can't risk leaving things where her family might find them.

@Whywaitfortomorrow (sorry if already answered by others!)
Ros's wounds are getting deeper as she left them untreated for so long that significant infection set in (in RL think hospital for IV antibiotics would've been needed).
They'd be unlikely to find Tim's DNA in there, but she'd have to pull quite the whopper to get a cover story!

FeralBeryl · 20/04/2017 00:11

Ooh ooh what if the swab (Roz's) has got a crazy infection in that originates from only certain foods - like the one Tim was cooking? Did they find what he'd been preparing?
Or is that outlandish even for me? Grin

Maybe so feral but I like it!!

Ciaovenora · 20/04/2017 04:41

Having had cellulitis myself, it would be very unusual for it to develop into the type of infection she has in the early stages, I agree she may well develop sepsis. Yes to not being able to move her arm its incredibly painful.

The show-runners have said in interviews the story line tied up with the death of the Caddy is finished I tend to think the characters we see showing up from the past have nothing to do with the story line we're watching now.

Lastly, I think Enfield was involved in most of the crimes being committed he was probably being helped by the guy working in forensics ,obviously he knew Huntley was faking evidence due to the fact it was he was the person of interest.

To flag up:
Vicky McClure's on Graham Norton tomorrow night...

OutToGetYou · 20/04/2017 08:42

I think I have a girl crush on Vicky McClure!

Whywaitfortomorrow · 20/04/2017 11:02

Hooray we've passed the half way mark for ths week's wait for next episode.

Going back to first episode, when Roz calls her husband to tell him she's on her way out again, she says "Nick where are you? I just got the call." She doesn't say 'a' call but 'the' call. Implies they both knew it was coming at some point.

OutToGetYou · 20/04/2017 11:05

Good point Why - I did notice that vaguely and thought it was odd wording but didn't link it to anything. It might also explain why he's so antsy about being spoken to by the police later - if he knew something was going on? If he didn't, he'd just have said "she was at work" which is what he thought as it was what she told him.

Fiderer · 20/04/2017 11:13

If there are only 2 episodes left, Steve is going to have to work from his hospital bed surely as Hastings said he has a broken pelvis. Or can he use a wheelchair? What else was broken? Maybe all his bones will heal as quickly as his skin.

I know TN plays the part of a cold, distant character but I still find her acting wooden & robotic. RoboticThandie = RT for me. Denton was more nuanced.

OutToGetYou · 20/04/2017 12:23

Why does nearly everyone's surname start with H?

tribpot · 20/04/2017 12:30

"the call" could just mean the break they've been waiting for on Trapdoor, though. It did seem as if the team had been waiting to hear of a kidnap in progress in the hopes of tracking down Original Balaclava Man. She might have notified him that at some point she could get a call which would mean leaping straight into action.

CoolCarrie · 20/04/2017 13:12

There were men wearing balaclavas in every series, if I remember rightly. The guy who attacked Steve was shorter than nick, as wearing a bomber jacket could make him look bulky, he was white.
Could he be a member of the gang from earlier series?

Spoilers if you haven't seen the earlier series

Have they identified the last body found, if not,

.could be the missing woman from series one, or is she still in the fridge at the flat where young lad with Downs lives?

ktel1 · 20/04/2017 13:13

I think that the balaclava man who attacked Steve was ready and waiting for his arrival.

Therefore the question is how did he know Steve was coming in advance.

Either one of the few people in the know made a call or else he was already being followed or his phone was being tapped/tracked?

Within AC12 I think that only Jamie knew where Steve was going ahead of time- I think he then mentioned it to Maneet afterwards?

SapphireStrange · 20/04/2017 13:15

Within AC12 I think that only Jamie knew where Steve was going ahead of time- I think he then mentioned it to Maneet afterwards?

So Maneet could have tipped off Hilton, if she's being forced to feed info to him?

ktel1 · 20/04/2017 13:22

Sapphire- that's possible.

I'd need to check again on the timing , how long before the attack that Jamie told Maneet and if that would be enough time.

bottomhangingout · 20/04/2017 13:56

when Hana was hit by the car It seemed to me to be an accident. In that she suddenly remembered something and ran back across the road to her friends and ran in front of a car. And the driver (balaclava man) then had to deal with her? It perhaps wasn't the way he had planned to find a woman to murder. In that it was on a main road and indeed someone did see him bundle her into the car. Not sure why he didn't just drive off especially as the car was stolen.

In hindsight I now think perhaps it's a set up by someone to frame Farmer. But at the time it seemed to be something else altogether.

ktel1 · 20/04/2017 14:00

Hana was running for the bus

OutToGetYou · 20/04/2017 14:07

Hana was def running for the bus because she called out for it to stop, having said goodbye to her friends getting on a different bus.

Nick knew Steve was in his way to see him, of course, he can't have been on the phone to Nick the whole way there, didn't he leave a voicemessage first? Jamie only told Maneet when she went to show him the car they saw at Ifield's flat was Nick's....

But Jamie is some kind of plant.

I think we'll see more from Jodie.

Farmer was def a set up.

(S1 and 2 spoilers below....)

I think Jackie's (Gina McKee) body was left frozen in that flat (but doubt it can still be there, this is years later). There was another body in s2, the one Denton thought was Carly (the 15 yo missing person who Denton saw giving the senior officer a blowjob, who then used his wife's speeding offence as cover), but wasn't.....so.....where is Carly!? And who was that body?

Is Hunter def dead from s2? Cos, I'm just not sure he is.

bottomhangingout · 20/04/2017 14:29

Ok running for the bus, but it seemed, in the way it was presented, to be a coincidence that she was hit. So an accident. If it was a set-up then it was done very well. They had to bank on someone seeing it to then report it. I'm sure a serial killer wouldn't kidnap his next victim on a busy bus-route.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 20/04/2017 14:29

The victims I'm aware of are Leonie Collersdale and Baswinder Kaur who were murdered and then a third dismembered body, has that actually been identified yet? and Hana, abducted and imprisoned.

ACC Hilton has been receiving a few suspicious phone calls right from the start of this series. Could that be Jamie, or Maneet? If it's Maneet I'd think and hope that she's playing a double agent. Jamie could also be double agenting, or he could be involved in some corruption in league with Hilton, involving issues from past series?

Have the Police let the public know that it's a Balaclava Man they're hunting for re the murders?
