Vango, I think we all want to believe Maneet is working with AC-12 and not against it. But Ted being a Mason was discussed in the last series - Steve accused him of not wanting to move against the paedophile because they were both Masons. He witnessed a dodgy handshake. Wiki says Ted was confirmed as a Mason in S3 but I'm not sure, will need to rewatch the Steve interrogation scene.

ktel1 · 17/04/2017 13:23

Beans- the children haven't uttered a word yet in the 2 scenes we've seen them in.

The only interaction we've seen is in the first episode when Roz asked if they'd done their homework which elicited no response.

The household is odd ,quiet and sterile.

The children sit wearing headphones and don't say anything and Roz and Nick have a very odd dynamic.

Cary2012 · 17/04/2017 13:26

Thanks DubiousCredentials, of course it was! Completely forgot that.

hoddtastic · 17/04/2017 13:38

Ted is a mason, for sure
What is the backstory between Ifield and Thandie? There defo is one?
She confessed to an affair she didn't have because her husband is a weak link, he's not the murderer, i don't even think she is.

I think she's covering for someone, either her lover (the solicitor guy? One of her sons or someone we've not met yet)

I also think, going back, that ACC is into this upto his neck= He was involved with all the other dodgy guys all the way through, has seen that Ted is getting results, is worried that he's going to get exposed...

It was him that put the dodgy officers into AC12 in prev episodes
He was mates with all the other high profile dodgy ones. The original Chief Super who was implicated in the trafficking of the waitress girl in series 2/3 was his mate, no surprise there's another young girl involved here is there? She's key to something, I don't know what though?

Ceto · 17/04/2017 13:44

There has to be a big backstory with Ros, the comments by her rep spoke volumes about something having happened before.

I took it that the rep was simply referring to the previous investigation that resulted in her being taken off the original murder case.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 13:46

Yes, so did I, Ceto. Bring brought back in for a second interview, on different charges, so soon after the first.

EmilyDickinson · 17/04/2017 13:56

Series 3 definitely suggested that Hastings is a mason. Steve recognised the dodgy handshake when they were interviewing a retired police officer linked to the paedophile enquiry. I've always hoped that Hastings is undercover as a mason and just doing it to keep an eye on dodgy police officers.

I wonder where Hilton has got that information from though as I think that only Steve and Kate (who he discussed it with) knew. I don't think that Maneet knows, so perhaps Hilton knows because he too is a mason.

The questioning of Kevin regarding the evidence bag seems to have been thoroughly bungled by everyone. I'm sure a previous poster is right and the "3" on the "30" and the "3" on the ""13" are written differently. Surely the starting point should have been to show Kevin the evidence bag and ask him if the "13" was in his handwriting.

Has the evidence bag itself been analysed? Would it contain fragments of the original sample of Roz's blood?

It's so obvious that Roz isn't using and keeps rubbing her infected left wrist. Not only did she not pour herself water, but she was rather awkward with the envelope of evidence she used against Hastings, opening it one-handed. I'm so frustrated that Kate hasn't noticed. Isn't that the whole point of having someone watching the interrogation?

What is Roz referring to when she talks about clearing up her husband's mess? She seems to be saying she's had to do it before?

I'm really unclear about whether or not Nick pushed Steve down the stairs. He clearly knew Steve had fallen though.

Nick's friendly criminal law solicitor, Jimmy, does he work for the same firm or not? If he does then he could have been on the third floor.

Vango · 17/04/2017 14:08

Okay then, I think 'undercover' mason too. I don't think he'd really join!

tribpot · 17/04/2017 14:09

I'd expect there to be some kind of high level clearance needed, for an anti-corruption officer to be in the Masons. Clear conflict of interest. However, this has never been mentioned.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 14:14

I just think he's been a mason for years : back in the day , nearly all policemen were. It's just another nod in the direction of Ted's different generation status. It's not illegal, after all...

Eager to impress Roz, DC Jodie Velma Dinkley Taylor presents her latest evidence to the team...

The whole bag had been switched with a new one that had KRG30 on it as Huntley misheard so had to cross it out and write 13.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 14:18

So both the 30 and 13 on the new bag are in Huntley's writing and neither of them matched the other Confused

Vango · 17/04/2017 14:20

The whole bag had been switched with a new one that had KRG30 on it as Huntley misheard so had to cross it out and write 13.

Which means that all of the writing on it is Roz's. If they compared it to Kevin's wouldn't that give them a definite answer?

Vango · 17/04/2017 14:21

X post!

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 14:22

Yes, you would think so. I really can't understand why no one has thought to do this yet. They know there's something dodgy about it.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 14:40

Don't forget the glove in Ros' locker with 30 written on it in gigantic numbers. I think that will be her downfall - the gauntlet (aka blue glove) will literally be thrown down.

CopperRose · 17/04/2017 15:32

Like the OJ trial!!
(Although the opposite of...)

If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit Grin

hoddtastic · 17/04/2017 15:58

she'll have surely got rid of that? like she did with the tupperware and the rucksack?

What were the dimps etc in there out of interest?

I think she took the 'incriminating evidence' room down in ifields flat by the way, she had time, She was out all night. Her phone was off so her husband bringing it to her wouldn't change the triangulation thing as it wasn't logging onto a base station.

RNBrie · 17/04/2017 16:08

I don't think her phone was off. I think it was on because they said it was in her home. If it was off they wouldn't have known it was at her house. Even if Nick turned it off then they would have know it was off because it would have stopped registering so it must have been on and either he left it at home which would be weird as he used it as a reason to follow her or its a plot hole.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 16:10

Her phone was off. She claimed to be at home but they listened to her voicemail and found one from her kids asking if they could order pizza, implying she wasn't at home.

When questioned Nick said she was at home, asleep in the spare room with the phone off and the kids didn't realise.

diddl · 17/04/2017 16:11

So how many balaclava men are we up to now?Grin

ktel1 · 17/04/2017 16:12

Was it mentioned how long her career break was?

I'm trying to put together an estimate of the timelines based on what's been revealed.

She's been in the force for 20 years- so from 1997

She entered as a graduate in 1997 at age 21- as she is 41 years old now.

She became a DI before age 30 and then took a career break to start a family

Her kids look to be around 14yrs?

1997- enters force

between 1997-2003 (age 21-27) becomes a DI

2003 career break to start a family

2017 present day aged 41 back in the force

Do we know when she came back to work?

tribpot · 17/04/2017 16:16

She said yesterday by 31 she had been a DI for two years. She then took a career break - which may not have been when her kids were tiny but somewhat later? Perhaps Nick took the early years.

Do we know she's definitely 41? TN herself is 44.

ktel1 · 17/04/2017 16:23

I thought it had been mentioned that she was 41years old- but that may be wrong, I'll see if I can find out.

So she had been a DI since she was 29 years old and was still at work until she was at least 31 years old.

In her interview she said she took a break to start a family- that seems to suggest she left straight away i.e. from when they were born.
