Where the hell would you find a payphone these days though? Confused

Ferrisday · 17/04/2017 12:33

The solicitor Jimmy fits the build of balaclava man in Nicks office.
And he's a lawyer, in the same building?

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 12:35

The building thing confuses me. There never seems to be anyone in there except Nick and they're moving from floor 3 to floor 5. Is it a front for something else?

Did Nick say he was a corporate lawyer, I can't remember?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:38

There'll be some backplot about all of these people being connected via the law sometime back : Nick, Jimmy, Hilton, Roz...

It was made clear that Jimmy and Nick go way back..as do Roz and Hilton.

Hilton was actually in the first series. Been brought back for a reason!

am obsessed with my Hilton theory. The bloke can't act, though so let's hope he'll be gone after this series.

Also, Hilton clearly uses prostitutes.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:38

Yes, Nick is a corporate lawyer.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:39

Friendship jealousies here - Jimmy , the glamorous criminal lawyer, Nick the office lawyer with no backbone...

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:40

TheHipho - everyone else was allegedly on the fifth floor...

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 12:45

What do we know about Hilton from the first series then? I only watched them all again last year and I can't remember any of it Confused

Is he a mason like Ted?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:47

I can't either and it's niggling. He was a bit weaselly. Will research.

DubiousCredentials · 17/04/2017 12:51

Today 11:05 Cary2012

Do you think someone on the inside is telling Ros stuff, like the Masons, Kate's kid, how Hastings favours male employees, or do you think she's done lots of digging to find it all out? I think there's an informer, but wondered what you thought?

Of course. This is the info that Hilton gave Roz in exchange for future shag that he never got.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:53

Buckells was also in series one. Some loyal LOD watchers have complained that there are no links t the previous series which would make some sense given it is gaining a wider audience. But I think there probably are...

I do miss Dot.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 12:54

I definitely think Hilton needs to be sent down for crimes against acting.

Yes, Nick is a corporate lawyer, he mentions it to Steve when Steve is asking him 'hypothetical' questions, and then Ros mentioned it last night as well.

We haven't heard anything about the dreadful people who were running the Caddy in this series. I sincerely doubt they've all been caught/seen the error of their ways and reformed. Despite Denton's sterling efforts last series.

Incidentally, that reminds me - Keeley Hawes has not been nominated for a Bafta this year (although Daniel Mays has). She was nominated in 2015 but definitely deserved the nod again.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:55

Hilton himself would know some of that, as would Buckells and Roz could infer some of that from observing Kate.. doesn't HAVE to be Maneet clutching at straws

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:56

crimes against acting Grin

ktel1 · 17/04/2017 12:57

The actions of both Tim and Roz seem so extreme under the circumstances and there needs to be an additional motivation to act in the way they did.

In Tim's case after Roz fell and hit her head, why not just call an ambulance ?

In Roz's case if she justifiably defended herself against Tim and the chainsaw then why not just report it?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 13:00

Obviously, Hilton is also in there to illustrate the unfairness of policing for women.

Trained with Roz - has seen massive (over ) promotions.

Kate and Steve , both equally(in)competent. Steve up for promotion over Kate.

It's interesting parallel plotting.

Maneet's pregnancy is probably relevant - unless, does anyone know whether the actress herself was pregnant?

QueenieGoldstein · 17/04/2017 13:03

There has to be a big backstory with Ros, the comments by her rep spoke volumes about something having happened before.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 13:05

I don't think any of it makes sense yet. Why did Ros go to such elaborate lengths to hide the fact she was going to Tim's flat? (Indeed why go and see him at all?)

Tim thought Ros was dead, but deciding to cut her up and pin it on Balaclava Man is a bit extreme, esp given it was an accident.

And yes, if 'all' that happened was Ros woke up and Tim got killed in the struggle, why on earth just not report it? In each case, they may have felt the event would have cast a pall over their entire career - I can see Ros thinking she was never going to get promoted if she'd accidentally massacred a forensics bloke with a chainsaw, even in self-defence.

Ollycat · 17/04/2017 13:06

QueenieGoldstein agree totally - mentioned this up thread- I wonder if this was the reason for her enforced career break?

tribpot · 17/04/2017 13:09

Beans, yes Maya Sondhi had a baby fairly recently - tweet with a pic.

QueenieGoldstein · 17/04/2017 13:09

I think you might be right, and having the children was a convenient cover. She doesn't seem to interact with her children much nor like her husband.

ktel1 · 17/04/2017 13:11

I think that Roz's time away from work may be connected with her husband.

She made a comment to Kate something along the lines of regretting putting someone else's needs ahead of her own career and regretting it.

I think we were supposed to assume she meant caring for her children but perhaps it was connected to her husband.

She shows contempt for her husband, you get the impression that she thinks he's weak and incapable and that it's up to her to deal with everything.

What happened between them could be key in explaining her actions now.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 13:11

The Huntleys' children are victims of neglect!!

Vango · 17/04/2017 13:18

Apologies for jumping in so late and possibly saying something that's already been said!

Is it possible the Ted is giving information to Maneet (a mixture of true and false (I don't believe he's a mason!)) to pass to Hilton in the certain knowledge that he'll in turn tell Roz? So Roz's interview yesterday (when the 'planted' information was brought up at the end) confirmed to AC12 that Hilton is involved and covering something massive? I know Ted seemed surprised but I bet it turns out that he knew exactly what was going to happen when they summoned her.

Vango · 17/04/2017 13:23

Oops...and I only need to read back a couple of pages to see that Ceto has already said it!
