Maybe Ros is setting up her husband to be BM. Encouraging him to follow her in his own car by leaving her phon, thus placing him at the scene. Telling him she's had an affair so he has motive to go on a killing spree of the men in her life. Arranging for the real BM to be at his office and attack SA.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 12:01

but all the 'wee girl ' stuff seems absolutely right.

I dunno. I understand what you mean but when they were looking at Ifield's flat he said something like 'that wee girl has done with me' referring to Huntley telling him to more or less piss off, it was her investigation.

Would Ted really call a DCI a 'girl' let alone a 'wee girl'? I could understand it more if he said it about one of his team, perhaps in misjudged familiarity. I'm not sure Confused

Also, I read somewhere that JM researched whether there would be CCTV on the evidence room and apparently there wouldn't be. A lot of people on Twitter had the same question.

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 12:04

I don't think Nick Huntley is any of the balaclava men. There's no way he could've got changed, had a fight with Steve, got changed back into his suit, phoned Roz and escaped the building in that timeframe.

I think he might know who some of the BM are though...

well the only other person known to be in the building at the time was the security guard, Navy. Seems weird no-one is questioning him.

There's obviously something missing in the timeline - Nick is waiting for Steve, he doesn't arrive, so he goes looking for him, finds him (NB he's described later as being 'at the bottom of the stairs', which he clearly wasn't), calls Ros, Ros turns up, he slips out without being seen, they go for their joy ride, he returns and then raises the alarm about Arnott.

Cary2012 · 17/04/2017 12:12

I wonder whether cctv will pick him and Ros up driving around just before Nick went back and made the call about Arnott ...

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:12

Who says he raised the alarm??

I think you need to be from NI or Scotland to fully get the 'wee girl' thing ; it's absolutely what men of a certain generation say. If Roz had been a chap, he may well have said ' the wee man'. Ageist more than sexist perhaps.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:13

Also, Nick said he left by the 'only route without CCTV' to phone Roz, so BM is a different person...

'Jimmy Lakewell' arrived at Nick's summons. We just don't really know who that is.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 12:15

Beans, it's true, we don't know he did raise the alarm but Ros told him to go back in and do so.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:15

Well, note to the police service : you definitely NEED CCTV in your forensic rooms and offices!! because Line of Duty is real

Fizzingwhizbees · 17/04/2017 12:16

One thing that's bothering me- Nick must've called Ros, otherwise how would she have known to turn up at the office? Yet an examination of his phone didn't reveal that call, because Jamie said to Ted that the only call he'd made after Steve hung up was to his solicitor. Somebody's got to have a second phone somewhere because surely it'll come out that Ros met with her husband immediately after the attack.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:17

Yes, but trib did he not seem to get back and discover ambulance etc? I got v confused at that point must admit.

It's not true btw that it was only him and the SG in the building. All his colleagues were there, just on a different floor.

His building seems to be full of CCTV : why none in the stairwell!?

FeralBeryl · 17/04/2017 12:17

Fizzing he used a pay phone - she mentions it in the car saying 'at least you had the sense'

OP posts:
ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:18

Fizz, he called her from a payphone. She congratulated him on this.

Ceto · 17/04/2017 12:18

I think balaclava man in Nick's office was Jimmy, as we know he phoned him straight after talking to Steve. Maybe he was nearby - or even in the same office - and nipped in by the same back entrance that Nick used to go back in after talking to Roz.

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:18

X post! You type quick Feral !

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:19

Ah, but who is Jimmy???

the real Jimmy, or the 'Jimmy Lakewell' on Nock's phone????

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:19

Nick...

typing too fats to get ahead of Feral Wink

LocalEditorMerton · 17/04/2017 12:20

'Jimmy Lakewell' could be Ros maybe?

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:20

They're all being so stupid : they have not actually investigated the number at all. Just looked at the call log...

Fizzingwhizbees · 17/04/2017 12:20

Oh thank you FeralBeryl and ILikeBeans, not sure how I managed to miss a detail that obvious! This series has my brain tied up in knots Grin

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:21

Nah ' Jimmy' is Hilton. I'm almost positive!

A trained police officer could definitely attack Arnott like that.

tribpot · 17/04/2017 12:25

So there's an even longer gap in the timeline whilst Nick is locating a payphone (had forgotten about that). You would think he would be more conspicuous using that - it's quite an event when I see someone using the payphone in the station these days!

TheHiphopopotamus · 17/04/2017 12:30

I think you need to be from NI or Scotland to fully get the 'wee girl' thing

I wondered if that was the case. It's a bit like some mumsnetters get their knickers in a knot over being called 'love' but up here in the North everyone calls everyone it (sorry, I fell like a dog with a bone about Ted Grin)

Anyway, I think the security guard is BM as well. They were the only two people in the building and the guard said no one else had been in. I think there's some kind of high up sex ring happening involving police officers, solicitors etc. Cant articulate it all just yet, though as I haven't thought it through Grin

ILikeBeansWithKetchup · 17/04/2017 12:31

Yeah trib, I thought that was quite contrived...
