Exactly snapespear. So ability to regenerate is separate to status as timelady or timelord.

raisedbyguineapigs · 16/04/2017 20:20

Yes I think Timelords are the elite gallifreyans and are the only ones who can regenerate. Didn't Susan fall in love with a human? I presume as she was left on earth with a human that if you are a common or garden gallifreyan you have the same physiology and lifespan as a human. I didn't think about the picture implying she was dead. Of course it could be that he just had pictures of his wife and grandchild.

Funnyfarmer · 16/04/2017 20:27

I always thought it was the terroforming that brought Jenny back to life?
River could regenerate because of her exposure to the time vortex whilst in the womb. So basically she was a human who could regenerate so if any human had enough exposure to the time vortex could regenerate. I also remember in an episode that it was the exposure to the time vortex as a child that gave them the ability to regenerate. Think it was in the one with harrold Saxon. But wasn't sure if all galiffrayens had the same exposure or it was just exclusive to the time Lord's. I've always believed that the time lords/ladies was like our version on the royal family and aristocrats. You're just born into it weather you like it or not

I THINK it was intended that Ace went off to Gallifrey to learn how to be a time lady

Sorry, can't confirm or deny this but just wanted to say I blummin' loved Ace when I was younger. I think she's my all time favourite companion.

Ace was ace Grin

Snapespeare · 16/04/2017 20:51

I loved ace too. Baseball bat those dalek's, girl! Whoop!

RustyBear · 16/04/2017 20:53

The TARDIS data core wiki has an interesting page on Gallifreyans, including information from the various books, comics and audio adventures, as well as the TV series, which makes it a little more complicated.

tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Gallifreyan

Funnyfarmer · 16/04/2017 21:01

Thanks @rustybear I'll check it out.
I loved ace too. Even before I was a fan. I remember watching re runs as a child. Must have been the mid 90's and i remember thinking she was incredibly cool. I didn't even really know what I was watching i remember looking to find it in the tv guide but never could. It's only since the reboot I realised it was dr. Who I was watching. But it was because of her l liked the show

We loved it Tardis

It seemed quite old school (at least old-post 2005 era), bit like when Christopher Ecclestone met Rose. Yes a bit of a rework of Waters of Mars though, also Fear Her with the alien basically trying to just get back home.
Like the touches to the first Doctor with the pic of Susan and the university Smile

Love Bill so far!

My favourite PC episode so far - hope it continues! And soooooo excited to see a glimpse of John Sim!

Refusing to listen to rumours of Kris Marshsll though Angry, can't beat him

bialystockandbloom · 16/04/2017 21:40

I was once babysat by Ace

bialystockandbloom · 16/04/2017 21:43

Oh and funny I think the last we saw of the Master (as John Sim) in the end of time was when he threw himself in front of the white star David Tennant threw to make the Time Lords vanish - he disappeared with them. Not sure if it was ever explained how he came back (as Missy)?

bialystockandbloom · 16/04/2017 21:45

So many typos - meant John Simm and can't bear Kris Marshall, not "beat" him Grin

Davros · 16/04/2017 21:48

I also hate River Song. And I don't want Kris Marshall although I liked him in Death in Paradise. And I think it would be good not to have s young white male but now I don't want a woman because of companion romance complications and PC should not be followed by an older white male. So that leaves a young or old not white male...!!

MrsJayy · 16/04/2017 22:01

How can anybody hate River song she is fabulous

MrsJayy · 16/04/2017 22:03

New companiion is Gay so no love interest there

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/04/2017 22:10

River Song is a Mary Sue. SM just fell totally in love with the character and she ended up knowing more stuff than the Doctor because she was speshul.

She was ok in the library episodes and her very last one. But apart from that, I had to grit my teeth every time she came on screen.

Hello Sweetie, my arse.

I really love River Song.

And Matt Smith's Doctor. And I have loved PC as well

And whilst I did love David Tennant when his series were first on (and I do love him anyway), repeated viewings show that he does a lot of his Doctor acting through his lower set of teeth. All chin thrusting teeth work. Bit distracting.

I don't mind the idea of Kris Marshall.

Funnyfarmer · 17/04/2017 14:42

Ooh. Just had a thought. What if John sim isn't playing the master? It's not the 1st time the doctor has regenerated into a face he's met before. It's a great way to the new doctor on set without anyone twigging.
I know it's a wild stab in the dark. But it's Dr who and anything is possible Grin

OP posts:
Comealongpond89 · 17/04/2017 15:16

That would be cool. I think I read somewhere it has to do with time streams and going back in time and that him and missy will be acting together. I think missy is in ep 6 of this series at least and maybe more

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 17/04/2017 15:44

Oh dear. They have managed to create a companion even more irritating than Clara. Clara was at least interesting to begin with. I thought Bill was awful- she is like a not very bright 12 year old.

DalekBred · 17/04/2017 15:47

he does a lot of his Doctor acting through his lower set of teeth. All chin thrusting teeth work. Bit distracting. (Tennant)
LOL! That's why hes my least fave doc. in fact cant stand him as the Doc (''Don't call me Doc- William Hartnell!).

All hissy talking too fast through his teeth all the time. That's when I first had to start watching with subtitles!

The classic WHo actors (docs and other actors) had clear diction and theatre style talking so could be heard clearly on screen.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 17/04/2017 15:49

I am in the minority clearly but I like the Matt Lucas character

I did too.

DalekBred · 17/04/2017 16:05

didn't even bother watching the hsbands of river song as I cant stand greg davis.

But only saw Matt Lucas in last xmas one Dr Misterio (which was good).

I think hes being made to look like he has some sort of disability, maybe a mental health thing, like he did in little Britain. and in the words of the 2nd doctor- I don't like it.
