My problem with bill is not that she is gay. Who someone wants to have sex with is the least interesting thing about them. The problem with bill is that there is nothing else to her - job? Interests? History?

Or it may have been mentioned and mumbled, or course. Hopefully she is gone for good.

She works in the university canteen.
All we really know about her past is her mum dies when she was a baby. No mention of dad. She was brought up in foster care, I gather that she's lived with her foster mother for some time but they still don't have much of an connection and the FM seems quite selfish.
I just don't think she had long enough to develop time wise.
I don't think we really knew much more about any companion after there first serise

According to the Guardian, Newsnight says Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the next Doctor link, although they later say its unlikely.

I think if they did a Jago and Lightfoot remake, give them their own adventures, they should have lookalikes Jim Howick as Jago and Larry Rickard as Lightfoot! perfect!

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has just ruled herself out apparently. She's trending on twitter as her agent has denied she's up for it.

Plus Sheridan has been an companion. You might have not seen her face but was unmistakably her. As I said on a pp I find it a bit disappointing then why recycle old actors from or for major parts.

I wish they would just bloody announce who it is now. It would be nice for it to be a surprise, but the endless speculation is tiring and bound to lead to an anti climax.

I dont think Phoebe WB would do it. She's a screenwriter isnt she? I thought she was writing Fleabag here and in the US. Doubt she could do Doctor Who and that. Its quite a punishing schedule, and the main reason why they all leave after 3 years, because they effectively dont have the time to do anything else.

Julian Barratt would be a lovely Doctor. For years my 'dream' Doctor was Bill Nighy, but those younger fans who think Peter Capaldi is impossibly ancient (I'm close to his age!) would have a coronary. Some people on other Doctor Who forums are pretty confident it's Kris Marshall. I'm not sure about him, but I generally warm to whoever it is eventually, though Matt Smith took a while. Colin Salmon would be nice to look at...

Yeah, Kris has been bandied about a lot. But I'm not convinced in his acting to be honest, and I feel like someone less known but very good is maybe more likely.

I wish they'd just tell us too. If they leave it until autumn I'm going to get fed up again!

Sheridan Smith was a companion for a while in the Big Finish audio series, I think with Paul McGann. Really can't stand Maxine Peake, I'd go with Olivia Coleman though, she'd be great.

they could sort of start again, redo the original stories, there are so many missing from docs 1 and 2, and younger viewers and kids would get the whole proper history of DW.

Don't know why they cant do that anyway, show all the originals again, insert remade missing eps with the people you suggested, and go on from there.

and if 1st Docs going to be witth PC then surely theyd get a Susan too? in thexmas episode I mean..

Susan was gone by the time the first doctor regenerated - he was with Ben and Polly by then.
At the end of The Tenth Planet, the Doctor goes back to the TARDIS a little ahead of Ben and Polly, and by the time they get there, the regeneration has started.
But who knows what happened before they got there....

I've not seen much of the old ones. Before my time. I know that's no exude. I've tried but felt let river when she met 10. That it's still the doctor but he wasn't quite done yet.

Susan stayed on 22nd century Earth with David Campbell after the Dalek invasion had been defeated.
