ColdCanary Just checked the link and yes it is on. And thank you because I've never heard of Den of Geek. I think knowing I can get some explanations of things that have utterly confused me I could start to watch the last couple of series that I gave up on.

Funnyfarmer · 01/07/2017 21:10

Oh my stars. I don't even know to think!
I'm exhausted after that.

Are we seriously supposed to wait until Xmas?! Peter Capaldi was brilliant. I was a big fan before Doctor Who, I'll really miss him. Sad

specialsubject · 01/07/2017 21:35

Bill more understandable this time but she summed herself up 'I like women and people my own age' . that's it as far as I see. No history, no interests, no character, no job - more interesting as a Cyberman!

Same exit as clara, hopefully for good. Glad they gave flashbacks because it was all quite forgettable and a lot of plot magic.

Also glad managed to watch unspoiled, nice surprise at the end.

paxillin · 01/07/2017 21:37

I hope the new doctor is not a young and hyper one. I quite liked the more grown up performances of Capaldi, Kingston and Gomez.

PerspicaciaTick · 01/07/2017 21:52

I am still hoping that Missy finds a way back...somehow...

MintToBee · 01/07/2017 22:05

Well that was... interesting.

Funnyfarmer · 01/07/2017 22:05

Did anyone think he looked like Matt Smith when his head started to change.
Is that a new thing when regenerating he says quotes from previous doctors and looks like them for a second too.

That got lots better. Great surprise at the end. Can't wait til Christmas now.

I thought his hand looked regenerated as in all better, no bandage, not that it looked like a woman's hand. I hope not anyway, a female Doctor feels all wrong to me.

I'm glad Bill is happy and now she can swan off into the interstellar sunset. I would have liked Nardole to stay with the Doctor but I can see he's been set up nicely to stay there for the forseeable.

I think what has made this series really quite good is that they seemed to strike the right balance between the personalities. Missy called Bill and Nardole 'the sidekicks exposition and comic relief' which sounds about right to me. They made it more accessible.

I still don't understand how Missy ended up being on the point of execution earlier in the series though. Has that ever been explained?

Funnyfarmer · 01/07/2017 22:09

I was a bit disappointed he didn't say. "You was absolutely fantastic! And you know what? So was i"

Capaldi has been channelling a couple of other doctors throughout the series here and there with little gestures, phrases and mannerisms so it wouldn't surprise me if he added MS in there too.

GenerationEx · 01/07/2017 22:14

Rubbish. I really feel ripped off with lazy writing and little story ark. Pond woman saving Bill, really? Hmmmmm....

Davros · 01/07/2017 23:50

We really enjoyed tonight's episode but will have to watch again for more in depth analysis Blush too tick to get it all! Tardis

SoupDragon · 02/07/2017 07:41

I'm a bit disappointed that they used The Pilot as the equivalent of a timey wimey reset button for bill. I didn't want her to die or stay a cyberman (although that would have been an intresting companion set up!)

SoupDragon · 02/07/2017 07:48

I do think there's a good chance the doctor will be femal next time. They've kept the casting secret so far and dropped so many hints it's ridiculous. Bill will probably go all dewy eyed over a female doctor (she's gay you know) and they kind of hinted about that when she said something like "you know I like girls and ones my own age...?" To the doctor.

I hint they should have gone with a black doctor before a female one though.

I did love the fact that the Master and Missy stabbed each other in the back though :)

What I don't understand is what point in his timeline the Master appeared from. He died without regenerating last time, although he actually regenerated into Missy, so he can't die in the lift and that has to be before the episode where he died without regenerating... There are twisty timey wimey things that could explain it no doubt.

RedBullBlood · 02/07/2017 08:00

I don't even understand the Doctor's timeline. He's been guarding the vault for decades, but this is in the same timeline as his time with Clara (and the others, come to that). I may have missed something.
A bit meh about the Pilot; Bill hardly knew her and hasn't mentioned her since so I'd practically forgotten about her.

It seemed like the decks were being cleared for the new showrunner, a big restart for all concerned. Looking forward to the Christmas one.

WhirlwindHugs · 02/07/2017 08:13

I was a bit hmm about the pilot, but I love Bill and really want her back so hopefully she will decide she's not that bothered about pond girl 😂

I don't know about her and a female doctor though. One of the joy's of Bill is that she didn't fancy the Doctor at all, and I was bored of that storyline repeating - particularly when the chemistry just wasn't that strong (like 11/River, where the stories were always too complicated for us to see them get to know each other)

So excited for next season with Chris leading, he's written some really fun and comprehensible episodes so hopefully that will return as the mainstay of the season and the paradoxy ones as one-offs (I do love a lot of Moffat's episodes but too much of it is, well, too much)

RustyBear · 02/07/2017 08:39

After the Master died without regenerating (in Last of the Time Lords) he was resurrected by the Disciples of Saxon at the beginning of The End of Time. At the end of that story, he was sent back into the time-locked Time War with Gallifrey and the Time Lords. Gallifrey was later put in a pocket universe by all the Doctors acting together, and later ended up at the very end of the time continuum - not sure if it was ever explained exactly how, I need to rewatch Heaven Sent/Hell Bent. I'm also not sure exactly when the Master left Gallifrey, but he then got trapped in the Mondasian ship, having damaged his TARDIS trying to escape the black hole.

BrexitSucks · 02/07/2017 09:00

Missy is such a psycho, she can't be face of next Dr. I loved her psychoness as a counterbalance to Dr. always trying to do the right thing.

Would you always try to do the right thing if you had so much power and were accountable to nobody?

BalloonSlayer · 02/07/2017 09:14

I thought the "you know I like girls and ones my own age...?" meant she was saying she loved him, despite the above.

SoupDragon · 02/07/2017 09:45

I think that's exactly what she meant. However, I also think it has the potential to be a set up for a female doctor, a sort of "how ironic" moment.

SoupDragon · 02/07/2017 09:45

(I'm ignoring what
Rusty said on the basis that I think my brain just imploded trying to work it out :o)

WhirlwindHugs · 02/07/2017 09:46

Yes, it was an I stayed with you because of you not because of a crush type statement, imo.

WhirlwindHugs · 02/07/2017 09:47

I need to rewatch those episodes Rusty, they're not all on netflix. It's very annoying.
