I still don't get how Bill's brain didn't get fried.

Sony Walkmans for everyone!

Addley · 05/06/2017 18:22

DP's just told me he fancies Missy ShockHmm

Should I be scared? 😂

SoupDragon · 05/06/2017 18:41

Just embrace your inner psycopathic, evil timelord!

Addley · 05/06/2017 18:43

Maybe it's just cause she reminds him of me 😍

prettybird · 05/06/2017 21:32

Michelle Gomez is one of the alumnae of ds' school - as, apparently is Daniel Portman (Podraig Payne in Game of Thrones). piece of useless trivia Wink

Dillite2 · 07/06/2017 00:21

I've just finished catching up on the last 7 episodes. Is it just me, or do they all feel a bit repetative? I haven't seen every single one episode in every single season and yet I keep feeling like I have seen them before. I did quite enjoy the creepy house one though! I hate creepy houses with squeeky floors and doors.

Now, what I would like to know is- don't the writers get fed up of having the same story of some alien power coming to take over the earth every single year? And rewriting all of the earth's history all the time?

Also, does the Doctor forget his previous sidekicks? Why does he always act like each one is the only one he's ever had and is the love of his life that has to be saved at any cost?

SoupDragon · 07/06/2017 07:13

Why does he always act like each one is the only one he's ever had and is the love of his life that has to be saved at any cost?

Probably because his conscience tells him he is responsible for them. I don't think he forgets the others at all.

specialsubject · 07/06/2017 09:52

There are only a small selection of action adventure plots, including sci fi.

Base under siege
Alien invasion - they are here, or they are coming, or they are plotting it somewhere that the hero turns up
Planet with problems - natural disaster, evil overlord, cult brainwashing

Any more?

MommaGee · 08/06/2017 03:04

DH was hoping Bill would go with the aliens. He really hates her.

This season def isn't the best and I really gate bloody Nardole and Missy

SoupDragon · 08/06/2017 07:16

I thought the evil space suits were a nice twist on, I suppose, "evil overlord". I guess the mining company were the overlord in that one.

Dillite2 · 10/06/2017 17:53

I'm with your DH MommaG. Why can't she be floated off into space like they did with Clara?

By the way, have there ever been male companions?

QuiQuaiQuod · 10/06/2017 19:08

Dillite

1st doc- Ian, Steven, Ben.
2nd- Ben (for a bit) Jamie .
3rd- non, unless you count the UNIT folk.
4th- Harry, Adric.
5th- Adric for a bit, Turlough.
6th- none
7th- none
8th- Chang Lee or whatever his name was- sort of.
9th- none -a bit Mickey.
10th
Mickey.
11th-Rory.
12th- nardole.

My faves are Jamie, ben and Rory.

QuiQuaiQuod · 10/06/2017 19:10

oops, forgot Captain jack with 9th and 10th.

I think that's all the male companions.

RustyBear · 10/06/2017 20:15

Depends on your definition of 'companion' - if you count 'anyone who's ever travelled in the Tardis and helped the doctor in an adventure', (as opposed to someone who just travelled in the Tardis because the doctor was rescuing them), then I would add Bret Vyon for the 1st Doctor, the Brig and Sgt. Benton for the 3rd, HG Wells for the 6th. And of course the 9th Doctor took Adam on a trip, though he certainly didn't help....

RustyBear · 10/06/2017 20:21

Have you watched tonight's yet, QuiQuaiQuod? Don't want to do spoilers, but there's a bit I think you'll appreciate...

RustyBear · 10/06/2017 21:02

Oh, and I forgot Wilf with 10 and Rory's Dad Brian with 11.

tillytubby · 10/06/2017 21:27

Specialsubject you forgot 'Victorian England' and 'doctor meets famous figure from the past' plotlines

SouthWestmom · 10/06/2017 21:56

Im out of love with Dr Who. I don't know if I'm just too thick but I can't follow it anymore and I don't understand why the doctor now can kill people when he couldn't, and why he needs to be rescued and why Nardole and Missy are in it all the time.

RatOnnaStick · 10/06/2017 23:13

I liked that one actually. Less of the planet-wide navel-gazing and more of an old fashioned preposterous alien adventure with a ridiculous premise.

Felt like a decent uncomplicated filler episode, except for the exchange at the end. I guess Missy will be there when the Doctor regenerates. I wonder if they do it at the same time?

RatOnnaStick · 10/06/2017 23:18

Also, is he deliberately channelling Tom Baker here and there? Definite resemblance in a couple of lines.

BIWI · 10/06/2017 23:18

What I didn't get about tonight's episode was why, suddenly, the Tardis left of its own accord. Anyone care to explain to me?

iklboo · 10/06/2017 23:45

The TARDIS has HADS (hostile action displacement system) to take it out of potential harm's way.

BIWI · 10/06/2017 23:51

But doesn't that mean it would always leave the Dr. behind?!

iklboo · 10/06/2017 23:54

Apparently he'd been fiddling with it and it went off. It's a Gatiss go to.

disastrousflapjack · 11/06/2017 14:32

Really enjoyed last night's. Felt very old school somehow. Good old aliens in statis, dead planet stuff. Liked the idea of the British Empire trying to subjugate the ice-warriors. Never mess with an ice warrior.
