None of the things people say are the writers shoving Bills sexuality down our throats would be noticed at all if she was heterosexual.

Davros · 28/05/2017 23:58

I thought Erica would make a good companion but assumed she's married to that twat who broke her bins. Might not be easy to have the Doctor in her life too

RustyBear · 29/05/2017 08:54

Martha's ethnicity was mentioned - in Elizabethan England (The Shakespeare Code), she asks the doctor if she's safe or whether she might 'get carried off as a slave' because she's 'not exactly white'.

RustyBear · 29/05/2017 09:04

And Shakespeare refers to Martha as ’Blackamoor', then when she objects asks what he should say - 'Ethiop girl, A swarth, A Queen of Afric?'

brokenshoes · 29/05/2017 12:35

I think what funnyfarmer means is that Martha's ethnicity was mentioned in the programme, but those mentions weren't picked apart by the audience as being shoved down their throats.

Funnyfarmer · 29/05/2017 14:23

Also. "With hands like that how would one know if something is clean?"
" women may train to be doctors. But hardly one of your class and definitely not one of your colour"
I've been on several doctor who pages and and it's all I've seen recently and on here too.
"Ok she's gay/ black we get it. No need to keep going on about it. Just don't understand why it's making so many feel uncomfortable every time it's mentioned.

Anyway on a lighter note. The guy who plays the the monk. Can't remember his name. Is brilliant! It's the same guy who played the silence and the mummy.
Proper creepy. Wonder if he has extremely big hand in real life ?

But yes that's what I meant @brokenshoes

It's alrright.

I do miss them travelling round the universe now though. I want to see other worlds and aliens. Bored of planet Earth under attack ....again.

Funnyfarmer · 29/05/2017 19:57

Me too. If I wanted to see our planet under attack I would just turn on the news.

Does anybody know where we are btw in terms of alien attacks on the earth?
The crack in Amy's wall meant that doomsday and the stolen earth never happened. But then the doctor rebooted the universe. I assumed he put everything back to how it was. But bill didn't know the daleks. In this version of reality that we are watching now. What attacks has earth had?Confused

SoupDragon · 29/05/2017 23:15

OMG! Is our planet under attack from evil alien monks and I didn't notice??

I've lost track of which alien attacks happened and which were erased/reset. I find it best to ignore that kind of thinking if I'm honest, it's gets too complicated otherwise!

ButtMuncher · 02/06/2017 21:47

Just caught up with it. I liked this weeks episode, but I'm so so bored of Matt Lucas. I find him really cringe Confused

PinotAndPlaydough · 03/06/2017 20:07

Anyone else think that the first scene with missy was very much like the scene in Sherlock where his sister is in prison? Replace the piano with a violin and your done!

RustyBear · 03/06/2017 20:25

That's exactly what I thought. Also other derivative bits that (bearing in mind that some people on this thread will be watching later) I don't want to define more exactly yet because Spoilers...

specialsubject · 03/06/2017 21:18

Such a good actress facially. If only she could speak clearly.

Addley · 03/06/2017 21:21

Who? Missy or Bill? Cause all Bill does is widen her eyes a bit.

specialsubject · 03/06/2017 22:00

Smile I saw more than that today - but her bloody awful diction ruins it.

Killdora · 03/06/2017 22:23

I'm a little disappointed.

I won't do spoilers but I didn't really like the last fifteen minutes of that episode.

Can't say next weeks is gripping me either.

I don't know what's happened, I'm usually a very easy to please doctor who fan Grin

prettybird · 03/06/2017 22:52

Dh and I regularly keep asking each other, "What did she say?" Hmm

I guessed correctly before it happened how they would be saved Grin

specialsubject · 04/06/2017 08:48

I've forgotten already how they escaped, it was that memorable...

Fl0ellafunbags · 04/06/2017 23:00

Well this week's was better than last week's. Just. I'm guessing that Dr Who and Missy will wipe each other out and regenerate. Or have a baby or something.

MipMipMip · 04/06/2017 23:06

What proportion of their audience will have known what a tape player was? Given it's supposedly aimed at teens?

KnockMeDown · 04/06/2017 23:25

Did I hear the Doctor say he had given the photos of her Mum to Bill? I thought it was that woman she lived with - aunt or something? Though there was the photo which had the Doctor in it, in a reflection. But that has never been mentioned. Or have I missed something?

RustyBear · 04/06/2017 23:30

It was in the first episode - Bill told the Doctor she had never known her Mum and didn't even have any photos. Then at Christmas, her foster mum found a box of photos of Bill's mum that she didn't remember seeing before - Bill looked through them and found one with the Doctor in the reflection and realised he had gone back and taken pictures of her mum throughout her life and then put them in the flat for her foster mum to discover.

KnockMeDown · 04/06/2017 23:35

Aah, thanks Rusty!

SoupDragon · 05/06/2017 08:01

I would think most teens/younger viewers would assume a tape player was something made up like lots of other things in Dr Who. It was clear what the function was really.
