Not a duff episode for me this season.
Obviously Missy isn't still in the vault, I think it's the Master.

Missy is The Master isn't she? I thought the doctor said her name through the door last night so he thinks it's the Missy incarnation.

I absolutely loved the bit where the pope and the cardinals were in Bill's bedroom. So ridiculous :o

Why would Missy not still be in the vault?

It's a Moffat episode isn't it? Missy being in the vault is far too obvious and was signposted too early with none of SM's usual games.

I think it's going to be the Master too. And since the Doctor said they were friends at the execution place, and the episode finished on him saying he really needed her help to win against the aliens, wouldn't it be great if the Doctor and John Simm's psychopath Master kicked arse together to beat them, before he runs off to be enemies again?

Missy is a female regeneration of the master so that's not a twist be interesting to see how john simm as the master comes into it I guess

I love Michelle Gomez as Missy. I'd be quite happy to watch an entire series with Missy as the lead.

I know what the previous poster meant about this ep being all over the place. I didn't have a clue what was going on til the last ten minutes, and I'm still not sure who's real and who isn't and which the real world is

TheHipho Me either. I was confused. But not as totally baffled as I've been over the last 2 series which I couldn't make head nor tail of. Most of that I had no idea who was themselves, their own mother, father, daughter etc. I've done a lot a better this time round. I hope it's not going to get impossibly convoluted again because I don't have the brain power to work it all out.

Oh no, its starting to go downhill. Moffats episodes were brilliant at the start of his DW writings- Blink, the empty child etc, but hes too confusing now, and pushing the envelope WAY too much.

(I think in a previous life I was Mary Whitehouse!). TOO scary with those mummified monks- yes Davros scared the wits out of me as a chil, but not to the extent that my poor DC had to sleep in my bed last night and has been upset all day about it. Not good before the watershed.

No, didn't like the episode at all. too confusing and all over the place as another poster said, and I hate Missy. I want THE MASTER back. a guY!!!!!! Michelle Go,mez is brilliant, don't get me wrong, but Id prefer her as another character, we need the malevolent pantomime Roger Delgado/Anthony Ainley type master back. .

I don't actually think the gay thing is being pushed at all. If she'd brought a man home no one would say they were pushing her heterosexuality. No one would have seen the colour of the man's skin as being an issue either. They're just presenting a gay black woman being a gay black woman.

I don't mind 'confusing' in the first of a story arc of three episodes, but I hope this particular confusion is resolved by the end of the trilogy and doesn't stretch out right to the end of the series.

But DH and I are currently coming up the straight on our rewatch of the Classic series, and some of the McCoy episodes did a hell of a lot of confusing before it all got straightened out (or sometimes not) by the end of that three- or four-part story..

DH and I always watch with subtitles on, due to ageing ears, but it does actually help a lot with realising what's going on, so I think for me this episode was only about a 6 on the DW Obfuscation Scale.

I didn't think the episode was all over the place, in fact I commented to DD that the twist had been nicely done. They were all simulations up until we see Bill in a different outfit at the end part and the doctor tells her to try her luck with the woman she says is out of her league (and whose name I have forgotten!). At that point I realised that SimBill's outfit actually seemed different to what they had usually dressed her in.

The scenes with Missy weren't simulations actually. That was background to what is to come I guess.

Have to agree Quid, it's too much. Can't it be more understated.

I liked it, but don't like the doctor being blind. His glasses are pants!

I doubt they will keep missy as missy once Capaldi leaves so maybe she will die/regenerate next week and use some of the power to give the Dr his sight back.

They keep making a point of showing River's journal too. Why can't she just stay dead and keep out of it?!

I thought Michelle Gomez had already confirmed this season will be her last??
