Oo that was a look of loathing!

Those poor women! Brainwashed to fuck. Wife, my arse, they are only legally married to one person. The others are not legally married to the man. They work and claim as lone parents, taxes and claim benefits, too, as lone parents. How else does someone working as a postman support 11 kids? There are a number of charities and organisations dedicated to women and children trying to flee these relationships.

dailymailarecunts · 23/03/2017 21:42

Oh poor peggos lady. She looks so sad bless her heart.

GimbleInTheWabe · 23/03/2017 21:43

Fuck she is depressed, poor woman. I think she's going through some serious regret right now. But I can imagine if you leave the community you are made totally NC and I guess that'd be NC with the kids too

GatherlyGal · 23/03/2017 21:43

I'd rather hear about the ones that get away from this shit.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2017 21:44

'How do they afford it all? I know living must be pretty cheap there but paying for all those kids and a 2000$ ring?!'

They afford it all because the other 'wives' claim benefits and/or work and pay taxes as single mothers since they are not legally married to the guy. They also work cash in hand and don't declare.

HemanOrSheRa · 23/03/2017 21:44

I read or watched something along the lines of what Molly mentioned. The Elders (men) keeping the younger women to themselves rendering the young men of the community worthless.

I can see the appeal of living in a community of women and children. I like that bit. But I'm older and definitely not needy of a man's attention. I really couldn't care less. It must be dreadful for the young women.

WayfaringStranger · 23/03/2017 21:44

The women are all attractive and the men are slimey and grim.

Alconleigh · 23/03/2017 21:44

Is there that sort of welfare state in the U.S. Expat? Or in Utah, anyway? We always get the impression over here that it's sink or swim, no help.

JuneFromBethesda · 23/03/2017 21:44

'Someone in your life could be taken tomorrow'

... so it's a good idea to have a back-up or two!!

Lydia could do anything; why is she limiting herself to this patriarchal nightmare?!

Alconleigh · 23/03/2017 21:47

This has gone weird now. That laugh has no mirth at all.

HemanOrSheRa · 23/03/2017 21:47

Ha! Well done Lydia!

JuneFromBethesda · 23/03/2017 21:48

Oh Lydia, run, run far away

Interesting though that she's been through two 'courtships' before and not gone through with it. She obviously has some sense.

GimbleInTheWabe · 23/03/2017 21:48

You must be right expat. Maybe since they're part of this church they get some tax breaks too? I dunno.

JuneFromBethesda · 23/03/2017 21:48

Wives one and two appear to have drunk the Kool-Aid

OP posts:
GatherlyGal · 23/03/2017 21:48

Run Lydia run.

expatinscotland · 23/03/2017 21:49

These girls are groomed. Can you imagine, your teenage daughter finding it acceptable to become a concubine to some perv 20 years her senior with a wife, another concubine and 11 kids? FFS.

JuneFromBethesda · 23/03/2017 21:50

I'm amused by the ad for Match.com in the middle of this programme Grin

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 23/03/2017 21:53

It's pretty sick.

ArriettyClock1 · 23/03/2017 21:54

Dh and I are shouting 'run for the hills, Lydia'!

It's so perverse - are those fucking wives on medication?

We were wondering about how they afford it too - I suspected what Expat said...

CurlsandCurves · 23/03/2017 21:54

So sad to see the kids getting attached to her when she may not stick around.

BeachysSnowyWellieBoots · 23/03/2017 21:54

So what I want to know, is there a place or religion where a woman can have three husbands?
