I've just caught up on this, but rather perplexed as they are supposed to be fundamentalist Mormons, but they seem to be too lax to even be ordinary Mormons. The way one of the widows found an "outsider" would be strictly forbidden in FLDS, where everything has to be run past the elders first. I do wonder how much of it is staged for the camera.

The Rock seems to be a relatively new community set up in rural Utah, to allow people to,practise polygamy. They seem to be living by their own rules.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about it really. They're sort of brainwashed, but no more than any other religious community. And there doesn't seem to be much coercion - it's consensual, and they're all adults. And the overall community life looks fairly stable and supportive - I've read about other polygamist communities which were very dysfunctional and cult like. However it's hard to judge from what you see on TV. Very mixed feelings really.

I think the ban is more to do with fraud as in claiming benefits as a single mum etc. I hope they show a bit more of the arguments for the ban

I think the law should be passed but those already living in polygamous "marriages" should be granted immunity from prosecution. It seems cruel and unnecessary to break up existing families.
