Are you in the U.K.? Because there's all of series 3 still on iPlayer along with a 12 minute "story so far" summarising series 1 and 2

Bohemond · 07/04/2017 07:48

The car boots must be significant. Both TN and hubby transport their handbag and briefcase respectively in their car boots. Who does that!?

Who remembers Steve as the wee lad in Monarch of the Glen!

Whywaitfortomorrow · 07/04/2017 09:08

LOD often makes a play on names based on real life events, like Dale Roach in last series. Stay with me here. There has been mention of Barry George - the person convicted then conviction quashed for murder of Jill Dando. His middle name is 'Michael' and he was found wearing a balaclava inside grounds of Kensington Palace. Also previously convicted of rape and suffering from mental health issues. Police were under immense pressure to secure a conviction and initially based on evidence of gunshot residue albeit tiny in pocket of coat which appeal said could have been from cross contamination. Sound familiar ? Not sure how any of that helps me unravel LOD but interesting similarities all the same.

Going in for a second watch of episode 2 whilst pretending to be ironing

I have come to the conclusion I need to stop MNing whilst it's on!!!!

squoosh · 07/04/2017 11:40

Martin Compston's accent is dreadful. They should have allowed him use his Greenock accent or instead hired an English actor. I hate when accents distract me from a scene.

Megatherium · 07/04/2017 23:24

And don't get me started on why TN didn't just call for an ambulance- it would have been a clear case of self defence.

That makes me think either that it wasn't self defence, or it wasn't her who killed him.

Megatherium · 07/04/2017 23:26

During the interview with TN and Hastings/Mate#1 at AC12 they used the cunningly devised code for the images as TIM'S INITIALS!!!

E.g. TJI 30 for the biometric pictures

Isn't that standard police practice?

hollyisalovelyname · 08/04/2017 09:16

I am not in the UK and so can't watch the Player 😢.

SapphireStrange · 08/04/2017 12:45

That makes me think either that it wasn't self defence, or it wasn't her who killed him.

I'm thinking this more and more. But if she didn't kill him, why has she got all the tools etc?

Maybe it WAS her husband and he's more involved than I'd thought...

buggerthebotox · 08/04/2017 13:06

why was Barry George mentioned? I missed that.

I was thinking about Barry George too, as it happens, and the lack of evidence against him. As I recall, it was only a couple of tiny bits of gunpowder or something in his pocket? Shocking really.

He was an oddball loner with mental health difficulties and was convicted even though he couldn't have done it (or was extremely unlikely to have done it).

Thankfully he's out now, at least. A terrible miscarriage of justice. Sad.

Whywaitfortomorrow · 08/04/2017 15:22

Sorry bugger, wasn't mentioned in show but elsewhere. You didn't miss it.

Me Confused

ButtonMooooon · 08/04/2017 18:10

Just caught up with the thread. I think the night it happened (whatever that was!) will be shown to us in a flashback by TN, they quite often "see dead people"

Marmalade85 · 08/04/2017 19:06

Yes also finding Paul Higgins' accent terrible and distracting.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 08/04/2017 19:49

I transport my bag in the car boot. Am not a murderer though Grin

musicalfrog · 08/04/2017 20:51

Joining the thread. I'm only watching cos I love Lee Ingleby. As in, really love him. I watched George Gently when I was overdue with my youngest to try and get the oxytocin flowing.

Grin
FeralBeryl · 08/04/2017 21:16

Hmmmm Hmm

ButtonMooooon · 08/04/2017 21:51

My bag goes in the boot after a spate of robberies when thieving little shits were trying car doors of women alone in cars who usually had their bags on the passenger seats and grabbing them and legging it Confused

However if Steve and Ted need to take me in for "questioning" then so be it Wink lowers tone of thread

Tim couldn't call 999 for an accidental murder, because he was covering other things up.
Similarly, Ros couldn't call it in, because she has something to hide.

Sexism will be relevant, And there's more to the husband.
Kate and Steve need to be better friends, it's annoying and I think they are going to need to be. It's like they are expecting betrayal and back stabbing. They need to communicate better and trust each other.

The only theory I have is that we will spend5/6 episodes thinking Ros is being set up/investigated/she's innocent, covering up, when in fact she is a v big baddy

Ferrisday · 09/04/2017 10:58

And there was a lot of focus on single bags in boots.
Who has a boot that has no junk in it?

hackmum · 09/04/2017 11:57

Last night I was lucky enough to go to the BFI for the Radio Times TV festival and see an interview/discussion with Jed Mercurio, Thandie Newton, Adrian Dunbar and Craig "Dot Cottan" Parkinson.

The question of whether CCTV cameras would have caught Roz Huntley swapping the evidence bags came up, and Jed Mercurio said no - they have police advisers who told them there would be no CCTV in staff areas. On the question of why no-one ever recognises Kate, he pointed out that while eight million viewers might have seen her in last season's finale, there's no reason to believe that all the people working in all the police stations covered by AC12 would recognise her. Which is a fair point. Mercurio used the term "plausibility police" which made me laugh - he obviously gets a lot of these types of questions.

Apparently the lengthy interview scenes are all shot in one take and the actors have to learn their lines properly and although they can look at the papers in front of them, Adrian Dunbar says it's no help to him as he normally wears glasses and can't read without them. (Question I didn't ask: why don't they allow Ted Hastings to wear glasses?)

They also showed a sneak preview clip from tonight's episode which looks VERY exciting.

But that's because I can have the boot floor at two levels and it's all hidden under there instead

TheSnowFairy · 09/04/2017 15:49

Ferris I think it has been established Huntley is a very big baddy!
