They said cause of death was exsanguination and that he 'took a long time to die'.

They also mentioned the burn on his hand but said that, considering the shallowness/minor nature of the burn, that it might well be unrelated to his death.

This was all in the conversation when Arnott went to Hastings' office with the post-mortem results.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 05/04/2017 13:09

The burn did get a mention, marked as accidental or self inflicted.

OutToGetYou · 05/04/2017 13:11

Hmm, still not sure how he could have died from such a small wound. I might rewatch it this weekend.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 05/04/2017 13:11

Sorry cross post.

NotJanine · 05/04/2017 13:19

I wonder how realistic any of the police procedures are. I'm always amazed by scenes like -
'we've had the results of x they suggest y'
'good work, follow up on that'

Wouldn't they have a full meeting to examine what had been found and what the next actions would be?

It all seems so vague!

SapphireStrange · 05/04/2017 13:27

They said the saw nicked the jugular, which presumably ensured that the blood kept flowing/pumping out of him. That being the case, it wouldn't matter how small the wound was; he would die eventually. They did emphasise that he took a long time to die.

EmilyDickinson · 05/04/2017 16:11

If Roz severed Tim's fingers after he died then that means that she stayed at the flat for ages watching him bleed out. That's a bit grim. She had plenty of time to call an ambulance. Any wound to Tim's neck was self defence by Roz, surely (given that Tim was leaning over her, he thought, unconscious body with a chainsaw). The wound to Roz's head and corroborating blood on the counter top would confirm that he had, at the very least, pushed her. Surely it would have been so much simpler, as well as the right thing to do, for Roz to call an ambulance?

I can understand Tim's actions. He thought he'd killed Roz so wanted to dispose of the body. But it looks likely that Roz just injured Tim, albeit quite seriously, in self defence.

I do hope that at some stage we see the rest of what happened that evening.

SapphireStrange · 05/04/2017 16:26

Very good point, Emily. I'd forgotten that the fingers were severed after he died.

I guess she had to hang around at least long enough to clean up –but does that mean she cleaned up around him while he was bleeding out?

I'll be annoyed as well if we don't get to see or hear what happened that night.

OutToGetYou · 05/04/2017 17:23

Or, went home for a kip and came back in the morning to collect his fingers Grin

None of it makes much sense (yet!?)

Hygellig · 06/04/2017 09:34

Just caught up with this yesterday. Could Roz have sent the text message to Hana? Surely a security nut like Tim would have had a PIN number to unlock his phone - unless he had a fingerprint thingie and she used his dead finger? But then, no-one ever seems to have a PIN number on their phone on TV, even if they are a CIA agent!

Nellooo · 06/04/2017 10:25

Sorry if this thread has already addressed this, but...

Anyone else think it's a bit obvs that Ros' blood was left on the countertop? Tim knew it was there so if he'd cleaned up the scene he surely would have remembered to sort that out?

I think it perhaps points to another killer being involved because it seemed to me that Ros only realised it was her blood and remembered her head injury when she saw that forensics were taking a swab. A third person wouldn't have necessarily thought to look there and if Ros didn't even have it together enough to remember her head wound then how was she able to pull off the cleanup etc. on her own?

She does have all Tim's gear, though, so she was clearly there when it all happened. Hmmmmm.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/04/2017 10:47

That place was cleaned twice.
By Tim when he thought TN was dead and then after he died, there would have been a lot of blood with that chainsaw, but he had prepared to dismember a body, so he did try to protect the room so that would have helped Thandie's clean up.

buggerthebotox · 06/04/2017 11:05

Yes, there needs to be an explanation of that countertop blood. Hmm

wowfudge · 06/04/2017 12:27

That's why she's swapped the evidence bag for one with his blood on the swab.

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 06/04/2017 12:40

The explanation is that they both missed it when they cleaned up.

Nellooo · 06/04/2017 14:49

Yes, I know they both missed it. I guess the whole hitting the head thing was over emphasised and overplayed for the sake of making us "geddit", but it seems silly to me that both Tim, who did the shoving/head smashing, and Ros, whose head was smashed, both neglected to sort out that bit of blood.

iwanttobemissmarple · 06/04/2017 17:22

I'm just finding this series a little too far fetched for me.

Ted is not acting like Ted.
Kate - she's only just made sergeant so not very likely to make inspector without experience imo.

And don't get me started on why TN didn't just call for an ambulance- it would have been a clear case of self defence.

Still apart from TN & Jodi it's well acted.

TheHiphopopotamus · 06/04/2017 17:36

And don't get me started on why TN didn't just call for an ambulance- it would have been a clear case of self defence

Yeah, it does seem a bit weird. Fair enough (just) that Tim might have panicked, got his balaclava out, hopped off to B&Q to buy a load of power tools and a hazmat suit to make it look like someone else had killed her, but then for Ros to come round, accidentally kill Tim, clean all the evidence up except the one bit of evidence that implicates her is pushing it a bit too far.

Also, if Tim was the killer wouldn't he have already had all the tools for dismembering her? Or does he buy a new set every murder? Confused

hollyisalovelyname · 06/04/2017 18:03

Please explain the basic premise of Line of Duty.
I have not watched the previous series and missed 😢 episode 1 of this series.

So it is police investigating other police ?
Does the storyline then unfold as they catch her?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 06/04/2017 18:07

Yes. AC12 is an anti-corruption unit investigating allegations against serving police officers.

NotJanine · 06/04/2017 18:28

holly if you have Netflix, watch the earlier series. They are really good!

Whywaitfortomorrow · 06/04/2017 18:48

Second that Notjanine....

Somebody up thread mentioned car pulling up at Tim's house being identical to that driven by Roz's husband. Or at least wheels were. If it was him, why was he even there.

I think we will discover there is more to him as series unfolds. Do we know what he does ? I'm thinking maybe Michael Farmer has crossed one of their paths in past and that's why he was chosen to be be set up.

I miss old Ted. This one too much like some of the blokes I work with.

tedmundo · 06/04/2017 22:24

During the interview with TN and Hastings/Mate#1 at AC12 they used the cunningly devised code for the images as TIM'S INITIALS!!!

E.g. TJI 30 for the biometric pictures

That's how TN knew he'd reported her .....

wowfudge · 07/04/2017 07:14

I have a bit of a theory about Ted because through the other series he has never been straightforward and I've had doubts about him and whether he was a bent copper himself. Anyway, I wonder if he deliberately plays things so the person he's investigating underestimates him and thinks he is one-dimensional?

hollyisalovelyname · 07/04/2017 07:33

Gas and Not
Thank you.
I don't have Netflix.
Yet.
