Anyone else watch the start of the second series tonight?

Why was Sara's railcard conveniently renewed on such a date as to give her an alibi? It all seems a bit too staged.

And would someone who's in the process of recovering from being "in a very bad place" really be so methodical about holding onto receipts, tickets etc...

QueenoftheAndals · 04/02/2017 12:11

Oh Zebra swoons...

problembottom · 04/02/2017 12:16

Really enjoying this series and desperate to know what's going on. I did think in the last ep it was somewhat unlikely her son called to say her dad had been brought home by the police and she still went to the pub.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 04/02/2017 12:23

I'm really enjoying this series but Mark Bonnar is not fanciable in the slightest you bunch of weirdos! ConfusedGrin

Princecharlesfirstwife · 04/02/2017 12:48

Mark Bonnar is beautiful - that chiselled jaw.... I wept with him when he found out he hadn't raped Maria.

Sara's father seeing her photo on his grandchild's phone was super convenient but i suppose we need things like that to move the plot along.

I look at Marion's house each episode, a mews house in the shadow the Shard and try and guess how much it is worth.

It is absolutely my favourite programme at the moment. I still stick with my theory that it was Jason who killed DW by accident as a child and his mother disposed of the body.

Cagliostro · 04/02/2017 13:11

All the more for us then Dame :o

user1475253854 · 04/02/2017 13:51

I know princecharles re her house I always think "what, on her salary?!"

QueenoftheAndals · 04/02/2017 14:30

Isn't Marion's family fairly well off? So that could explain the zone 1 house on a nurse's salary.

teddygirlonce · 04/02/2017 14:36

Also, she could have lived there since the 1990s when that area wasn't fashionable at all.

Most areas that are chichi now were affordable once even for relatively ordinary people.

mugglebumthesecond · 04/02/2017 15:30

He was in Shetland too HaloSmile

CoolCarrie · 04/02/2017 20:39

What a honey in that kilt!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/02/2017 07:17

What an episode !!!

Why would dw pay £5ka to a lady to make her lie saying that she got raise by the silver fox

When he broke down and said he didn't R.E.M. Taking her then finding out what a lie was fab acting

Rubbish with names

I think the teacher had a baby by dw hence she went abroad to have baby

Nurse not sure what happened to her

Lawyer bless him. His whole life ruined coz what he thought he did

I did originally say wife of dw did it or covered up her son killing him

But liking the theory rhat all 3 killed each other's tormenter hence an alibi but the how are all 3 linked to dw and see a second of flashback. Need more flashbacks

And wow at being part of duo singing in 4weddibgs

The lunge /almost kiss was funny. Even more so when he said about embarrassment and she said I meant you 😂

Wonder where these other bodies are

Can't wait for next weeks. Can it all be tied up in one episode .....

teddygirlonce · 05/02/2017 11:40

I'm not entirely sure it can be tied up neatly in one episode if they start looking for other bodies though...

It seems strange that Sara should have lied so emphatically about her childhood and parents both dying when her father is very alive and well (and turned up on her doorstep) - that surely suggests she's a very unreliable witness?

And thinking about it, actually Tess (as well as the three main suspects), has the responsible 'giving back to society' career too - so maybe all four of them are doing it as redemptive 'pay back'.

I think it came as a massive shock to Colin that he'd been stitched up (and by DW), so not convinced by the idea of either Sara or Marion doing any dirty work (murder) for him - not with his knowledge?

QueenoftheAndals · 05/02/2017 13:53

It seems strange that Sara should have lied so emphatically about her childhood and parents both dying when her father is very alive and well

Unless of course that wasn't her father and was a regular from the "gatherings" who wants to make sure she doesn't talk. Though that's probably a twist too far...

diddl · 05/02/2017 15:04

I don't think that there's a reason to think that he's not her father, is there?

If he was at the "gatherings" & she 13 or so, would he recognise her 30yrs later?

I took it as a device to get the husband's sympathy & understanding.

Graphista · 05/02/2017 18:37

I thought quite early on it may be a 'strangers on a train' but dismissed it as cliched twist. Now I think it's a red herring twist - I think we're meant to THINK that'll be the twist when actually it'll be something else.

I think the ACTUAL twist will be cps not prosecuting as 'not in public interest' and the killers don't 'pose a risk to the general public' people don't realise not every criminal is prosecuted. Even murderers. Real reason being accused would be viewed sympathetically by jury.

southeastdweller · 05/02/2017 19:10

Agree that the more bodies theory from Cassie is unlikely to happen in the final episode as then there'd be too much to wrap up and reveal in one hour.

Tessa is involved, I'm sure of it. She's covering for Jason or she killed DW herself. Maybe that's why she joined the police after DW was killed, so no-one would ever suspect her. Her face crumbled slightly when Sunny told her there's a witness (Ellen Price) to DW arguing with a woman outside the Brentford house and that the woman gave Ellen a lift home.

I see that Marion's mother and sister are in the cast list for the final episode.

OP posts:
QueenoftheAndals · 05/02/2017 19:31

Wendy Craig is quite a 'name', so I'm guessing she'll have a big part to play in the final episode.

It also seems odd that they've got Bryony Hannah, who is not an unknown after Call the Midwife, in such a tiny part.

diddl · 05/02/2017 20:12

Why more bodies-anyone know?

Ferrisday · 05/02/2017 20:22

This is great TV

Graphista · 05/02/2017 20:29

I think it's an assumption that the DI (David's wife) was not complicit in his paedophilia, it's not just men and some women even if not fully sharing the 'interest' will aid and abet
