Anyone else watch the start of the second series tonight?

Enjoyed the last series and this was a good first episode (although the barrister keying a car was a bit of a stretch, especially given that the adoption of his daughter was not quite complete).

Really enjoyed it. For me, the most unlikely bit was the teacher running back to breathlessly pour her heart out to the interviewers, while they smiled sympathetically, and piano music played....that was a bit soapy. Loved the rest of it though, it's going to be gripping.

hackmum · 08/01/2017 11:33

I really enjoyed it. I love crime, and I feel a bit spoilt by having this start the same week as Sherlock and No Offence. But if I'm honest, I enjoyed Unforgotten the most out of three, as at least I understood what was going on.

And I'm another one who kept on going "I'm sure I know him/her from somewhere..." The lawyer dad was in Shetland. And there was a brief appearance from Call the Midwife's Cynthia.

Ashamed to say I didn't recognise Wendy Craig!

So glad this is back! The relationship between the two main police officers is so great (although when Nicola Walker turned round I kept expecting to see the back of her head caved in like in River last year). The format of showing us all the characters without knowing how they will be connected is excellent.

Cagliostro · 08/01/2017 12:53

Enjoyed the first episode!

Wadingthroughsoup · 08/01/2017 15:33

Optimist, when I told my OH that 'Unforgotten' was coming back for a second series, he said: 'But the main character is dead, isn't she?' and I had to remind him that was the other programme! Bit confusing because they were screened at around the same time, if I remember correctly.

SydneyCarton · 08/01/2017 17:52

Interesting that three of the four "suspects" (teacher, barrister and nurse) are only in their mid-forties now, whereas David Walker was 39 when he disappeared in 1990, so would be about 65 if he was alive. The three of them would have been late teens to early twenties in 1990, so why the age gap? Was he a teacher maybe and they were his pupils?

Optimist1 · 08/01/2017 18:14

Interesting point about their ages, Sydney!

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/01/2017 23:04

On planner. Loved s1. Hope this is as good

southeastdweller · 12/01/2017 17:20

Anyone watching tonight?

OP posts:
Graphista · 12/01/2017 20:36

Probably watch on catchup not necessarily tonight but will definitely watch at some point, see how I feel.

conkerpods · 12/01/2017 21:26

Can I watch this series if I haven't seen series 1?

SydneyCarton · 12/01/2017 21:50

Yes conkerpods, it's the same team of detectives investigating the crime but each series is stand alone

conkerpods · 12/01/2017 22:34

Great...I've been recording it and will start it soon now I know I can crack on Smile

Empress13 · 12/01/2017 22:51

Brilliant! I don't understand the connection with the nurse and the cancer patient? I guess her story will unravel next episode.

Has the son got Aspergers or the like? Ooh I do love a good whodunit :-)

Optimist1 · 12/01/2017 23:10

This is sooo good! I love the way the characters are developed and how we learn a little more about each one's possible involvement with the crime. And I have to admit to thinking that if I was ever to be questioned by police officers I'd like it to be Cassie and Sunny doing the interview - they would spot my innocence unerringly! Grin

mugglebumthesecond · 13/01/2017 06:45

I love this! So glad I saw this thread as I wouldn't have known it was on. Adore Nicola walker.

The nurse was a detective in something else. Love her too- what was it?

Groovee · 13/01/2017 07:25

Last night was good. Things started to become clearer.

southeastdweller · 13/01/2017 07:48

The nurse was in an ITV cop drama called Prey.

Ooh the teacher used to be a prostitute, clever.

I'm loving this but the one weak link for me is the big lad playing the victim's son. He just isn't convincing me.

wideboy26 · 13/01/2017 08:14

I think the victim's son may end up on hospital for overacting

evrybuddy · 13/01/2017 11:54

I love this show but... exactly what records are the 'Passport People' supposed to have on all of our travel since 1990 or anytime really?

The teacher/prostitute said she was travelling abroad in May 1990 and the Passport People would be able to verify that - police said 'yeah, let's check with the Passport People'

I don't travel abroad every other day but last time I did - within Europe - I only had to hold my passport up in the air as I went past a disinterested person - sometimes I haven't even had to do that - so I'd love to know what the 'Passport People' know about where I've been.

notaflyingmonkey · 14/01/2017 10:31

I've just caught up with the first two episodes, and really enjoying it. Some cracking actors.

Cagliostro · 14/01/2017 11:04

I watched the second one yesterday and now I'm grumpy that I have to wait another week!

Optimist1 · 14/01/2017 11:52

The passport info is interesting, evrybuddy - I think that within Europe they don't pay a great deal of attention to passports because of the Schengen agreement (which doesn't apply to UK). I'd always assumed that when our passports are scanned when departing and entering the UK by air that the data is recorded, but I could be wrong.
