Further to the other GG thread, this thread is for discussion of the four feature-length episodes which will drop on Netflix on Friday 25 November.

The thread may contain spoilers both for the original seven series of GG AND for GG:AYITL.

21 or 25, but she definitely goes back on the idea after having afternoon tea with Lorelai.

Oh the other thing is the drink driving! Shock Seriously?! Lorelai has cocktails and wine at every Friday night dinner then drives home. Luke has several beers at the Gilmores' vow renewal and drives home. I thought they'd got round to addressing it when Emily gets pulled over by the police but no, it's just a big joke!

I kind of agree with your post. But I also feel that the problem with AYITL was less that ASP ignored season 7, and more that she wrote this series as if it were only a couple of years after season 6.

Rory still on-off with Logan - a couple of years later understandable - 10 years later - depressing and weak.

Lorelei & Luke talking seriously about having kids for the first time.(Are we really supposed to believe they've been together for 10 years and they never discussed it until now and it may be too late?)

Jess still has crush on Rory.

The inn hasn't been redecorated in 10 years so now looks really passé.

It felt to me like ASP was writing where she wanted it to go before she left, not where those characters were likely to be in 10 years.

It was nice and reassuring that some things hadn't changed. But actually it was depressing and not very likely that nothing had changed.

Also I wasn't concentrating at the very end & I thought was Lorelai who said she was pregnant & I was please. When I realised it was Rory I was disappointed. I agree with everyone who says her character this series is really disappointing.

She's treating one man really badly while hankering after manchild who still has his dud mates that most people grow out of.

I could never stand Jess, and he looks even worse with muscles. Out of the 3 I much prefer Dean. Though it would have been nice if she'd met someone more right for her than any of them.

ManonLescaut - totally agree, it was like she was writing something a few years after season 7, not ten years.

Well I bloody loved it. Bit late to the party but have just watched all 4 parts over two evenings and wept through the last one. I've enjoyed reading your analyses but have to say, for me, I just loved having Gilmore Girls back in my life.

Had 2 weeks off sick so binge watched series 1-7 from the beginning and watched YITL. I wish I hadn't.
The campaign trail party and 'I just want you to be happy' was a perfect ending. Happy but bright with possibility.
YITL (apart from Emily breaking out of her supportive wife prison) was awful. Very very disappointed.
Lorelai is now irritatingly artificially quirky rather than unaffectedly so.
Rory is a vain brat
Luke is a dullard 'she's leaving me and I'm going to do nothing about it'.
Ugh. Such a shame.
