Further to the other GG thread, this thread is for discussion of the four feature-length episodes which will drop on Netflix on Friday 25 November.

The thread may contain spoilers both for the original seven series of GG AND for GG:AYITL.

Re watched every series over the past 2 months.
Loved it, hated it, cried, laughed. But so glad it's over!

I hope they don't make anymore. I wished thamey hadn't made these 4!

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 30/11/2016 23:01

Rory had a deep voice in the first season (similar to these episodes). It went all high pitched, fake and breathy after that and seems to have gone back to normal in AYITL.

Graphista · 30/11/2016 23:06

No I meant I was asking dozer how she knew it was definitely Rory and lorelai.

Graphista · 01/12/2016 00:01

Facebook Gilmore girls page

Scott Paterson indicates possibly more coming.

Matt czuchry live 1230pm tomorrow

Just to let you guys know, the delicious Jess/Milo Ventimiglia (he who could be spread on a cracker) is in a new series called This Is Us which is getting rave reviews is the states and his performance is particularly respected. It starts here on Channel 4, Tuesday at 9pm.

I don't think he'd be available for a permanent Jess return.

Graphista · 01/12/2016 00:47

Plenty of actors appear in more than one show at a time. Maybe this is us will get cancelled? (Selfish wishful thinking)

If I recall correctly, the first scene shows a whole new side to Milo. His backside. Grin
Not to be missed.

EverySongbirdSays · 01/12/2016 00:53

Yes but the demands of a 22 episode shooting season often make the actors unavailable for other things, especially if they are one of the main actors on the show. I think they only get May-July off each year. (And Thanksgiving/Christmas)

Graphista · 01/12/2016 01:01

3 months off - nice work if you can get it eh.

EverySongbirdSays · 01/12/2016 01:13

A bit like teaching if you have a steady gig long days on set with a decent rest period at the end of term.

Production schedules between shows would conflict though....

BESIDES Jess is ENDGAME

Rory will dillydally round with Logan AKA Christopher for years first. Jess is Luke.

Dozer · 01/12/2016 11:23

Jess is not Luke!

Dozer · 01/12/2016 11:29

Jess is not Luke!

Dozer · 01/12/2016 11:30

I don't know for sure graphista, read it online somewhere Grin

Agree with Songbird. Jess could just pop in and out.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 01/12/2016 12:07

Jess won't dilly dally around like Luke did, but he could decide not to persue Rory if he thinks she has too much going on with zLogan and his baby.

EverySongbirdSays · 01/12/2016 12:32

Jess is not Luke

No, I don't mean they are the same person. I mean he is Rory's endgame relationship, the way Luke is Lorelei's.

Rory has basically made the mistake of finding a man like her Dad with Logan, remember their cozy chat about all the schools they were both kicked out of?

Graphista · 01/12/2016 12:54

Yea Logan is just like her dad. I agree. And I suspect luke was more like Jess when younger than he likes to admit.

Everysongbird are you a teacher?

FannyWincham · 01/12/2016 21:24

Yes, hence Rory's visit to Christopher to discuss Lorelei's decision to raise her alone. She knew she was pregnant in that conversation. Rory has clearly decided not to involve Logan in the child's upbringing.

I've finished them all now. I found it really, really difficult to sustain any kind of sympathy for Rory and I hated that there was so much Logan - I find him utterly charmless and he has a horrible effect on Rory. Team Jess all the way.

LOL no why?

Graphista · 01/12/2016 22:35

I've a fair few friends that are. Do you think they do nothing in school holiday? It's just I don't know any that do, they usually are still pretty busy when school closed. That's all. Whereas I suspect actors on 3 month breaks are probably getting a proper break.

WhirlwindHugs · 01/12/2016 22:47

I agree that teachers work a lot.

But I started following various actors on instagram and they seem to be near constantly shooting/prepping/promoting. A bunch of them just stopped filming a show and almost all of them were back at work on other projects within 2 days! I was very surprised.

I don't think any show would allow their actors to be a series regular on two shows at once. The odd crossover yes. So probably no Jess if This is Us does well. Sad

EverySongbirdSays · 02/12/2016 01:00

Oh I know a great many teachers, and I'm related to 4, some of them who work 14 hour days.

I don't think that the "big holiday" is unjustified and I know that some do additional work in the holiday periods.

That said they still get more annual leave than the average public sector worker.

But an actors schedule is similarly bonkers and they spend a hell of a lot of time away from their families.

I'm a big Lin Manuel fan, and I follow him on Twitter his current schedule is next level insane. He seems to be juggling 4 jobs at once right now.

I think when actors do get their time off, successful ones, they have a very limited window for "other stuff" as like us all they also have personal stuff, need to spend time with family and need time out.

Appearing on one network show is so time consuming, that you almost never see those actors doing other series or even film roles on top and you certainly don't get people doing a main role in two TV shows at the same time, like you wouldn't get a teacher working full time in two separate schools.

DabbyR · 02/12/2016 09:08

it's not for me

WickedLazy · 02/12/2016 11:16

I just read something on imdb that made me think.

What if Odette knows Logan has a mistress? Maybe she has a lover back home too. Logan refers to their impending marriage as "the dynastic plan", and it makes way more sense that he's in a discreet open relationship, than putting that plan at risk to see Rory. Taking her to his dads restraunt, and not seeming fussed when Mitcham see's them together, even Mitchum getting her the Conde Nast interview. It makes sense Mitchum wouldn't risk ruining the plan, by helping his sons mistress, unless he knew it wouldn't ruin the plan. I don't think he'd believe they're were just having dinner

That would be a lot different than if he were cheating imo. As for Rory, it would depend if she knew Odette knew Logan had a mistress or not. I think Logan will know it's his child, and see them now and again, but won't acknowledge the child publicly, or discuss it with his family or Odette (he may stay with Odette, she may find out and be unhappy with the development and leave him).

I loved a series in the life. Even the musical, and the life and death brigades wild ride. I always liked "they guys". Was glad we got to see April too :) When Lorelai was going over the guest list (Keifer Suttherland!) she didn't mention Jess, presumably because he's part of the wedding party, Lukes best man or an usher. So I'm presuming she didn't mention April, as she's a bridesmaid.

WickedLazy · 02/12/2016 11:18

the guys*

froomeonthebroom · 02/12/2016 12:38

I think Jess might be the father. The way he looked at Rory and the pointed way Luke asked him if he was over her...maybe they had a ONS after he saw her at the gazette.
