Further to the other GG thread, this thread is for discussion of the four feature-length episodes which will drop on Netflix on Friday 25 November.

The thread may contain spoilers both for the original seven series of GG AND for GG:AYITL.

Exactly ding.

Watching again Smile

WhirlwindHugs · 28/11/2016 19:01

I imagine Rory is still using her trustfund but maybe is just conscious of not wanting to spend it too quickly, or there are stipulations about what kind of thing she can spend it on.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 28/11/2016 19:34

I do now Lois. Grin

Also what was the big deal with the red dress? It looked no big deal to me and the majority of her work style outfits were much, much nicer. It looked crumpled and certainly not Conde Nast appropriate.

KatieScarlett · 28/11/2016 20:52

Thanks for the Staaaaarrrs Hollow! earworm Grin

I am a huge fun of Gilmore Girls. Re-watch them, when I am feeling down. Watched the new episodes over the weekend and I both love them and hate them. Emily, Paris, and Kirk were brilliant! Rory being pregnant may force her to take a real job. So far she seems to be only considering working for the New York Times etc.
Spent my lunch break reading random things and reviews. Found this tweet and it made me giggle

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life WITH SPOILERS
Graphista · 28/11/2016 22:20

In my own narrative in my head:

Rory has a boy named Rory

Logan dumped odette, proposed again to Rory who again turned him down as she knows he only proposed because she's pregnant (if he really loved her he'd have dumped odette as soon as they got back together) pays a good wack of maintenance and sees the child sporadically.

Stars hollow gazette, using the money and fame from the bestselling 'Gilmore girls' book is now online as well as print and giving real competition to Conde Nast and Huntzberger media Corp (which is royally pissing off Mitchum).

Jess is working at the gazette too. But also writing his own literary fiction.

Following a drunken night celebrating a rejected proposal of a buy out from Mitchum, Jess and Rory marry in Atlantic city, they awake to hungover realisation but following stilted awkward hungover discussions and because Jess is amazing with Rory Jr. They decide to stay married.

Emily and Jack get engaged but decide not to marry but just live together - lorelai's reaction is somewhat Emily like Grin

Paris and Doyle get an elevator and another baby, to Rory's and Doyle's surprise as a reaction to almost losing the baby, Paris decides that she will be a sahm - being Paris she embraces this completely and becomes a vocal advocate for attachment parenting, extended breastfeeding etc

Lane invents 'parent rock' hep alien becomes very successful with songs about the joys and challenges of parenting! Paris is a BIG fan!

Michel and husband adopt, Michel runs the new inn with spa with huge success initially, but then realises he wants a better work/life balance so hires a deputy manager to give him more time at home. Fatherhood was not initially easy but now he adores his children.

Sookie comes back to the dragonfly, that's really home and after Jacksons death in a tractor accident she needed to be home, so did the kids.

Patty gets a FABULOUS toyboy.

Taylor FINALLY comes out at Woodbury pride march.

Lorelai and Luke are stunned to find lorelai is pregnant - with twins - honeymoon babies! Lane is thrilled to be able to advise lorelai on mothering twins. Lorelai freaked a little at first but Luke was so thrilled and Emily so shocked she embraced the news, after Emily had brought her a mustard covered pretzel and said "you're doing this. You're a Gilmore".

Graphista · 28/11/2016 23:50

Too much?

RipMacWinkle · 29/11/2016 07:14

^^love this.

Dozer · 29/11/2016 07:55

Great stuff Graphista!

Odette could find out about Rory and dump Logan first, then Rory reject him too, but Mitchum would let him keep the job so he'd just continue as now.

Am with you on team Jess. He would need to be spending plenty of time in the city.

would prefer Rory to continue to struggle with work/earning money, and come to grips with reality!

Taylor mentioned that tourist numbers were down - Lorelei and Luke could have some business struggles. Don't think they should have babies at this point.

Agreed with Lorelei about Emily's new bf who IMO will turn out to be unreliable and dumped!

OneThingAndThenTheNext · 29/11/2016 09:41

graphista you are awesome, that would all be amazing.

Graphista · 29/11/2016 11:45

Aw thanks!

Yea Rory having to struggle a bit financially would do her good but given her grandfather and father are/were both extremely wealthy it's not going to happen plus lorelai and Luke would help her out too.

I do want Luke and lorelai to have babies, while at 48 it's tougher it's not impossible.

Yea jacks been married 3 times before but Emily doesn't quit and it would provide great storylines in terms of Emily now being with an unsuitable man that lorelai disapproves of.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 29/11/2016 12:01

Love that Graphista!

I would really love to see Emily dump Jack, I think it would help her understand Lorelai a bit more and would add to the empowerment she felt in these episodes. She's a fantastic character.

Dozer · 29/11/2016 13:43

Emily could find a new group of nicer friends in Nantucket.

Graphista · 29/11/2016 15:05

Hmm I suspect she likes Nantucket because the people living there are much the same as in Hartford to be honest.

Greenglassforvino · 29/11/2016 17:27

How can I watch it without Netflix? :(

EsmesBees · 29/11/2016 18:25

One of my favourite scenes was Emily scaring the children at the whaling museum in Nantucket.

dingdongdigeridoo · 29/11/2016 18:35

Get a free trial of Netflix? Otherwise you have to deal with streaming sites which are dodgy and full of viruses.

KingJoffreysRestingCuntface · 29/11/2016 20:00

Rory is and always was a proper spoiled rich girl.

Even when Lorelai was struggling (remember the termites?) Rory was always like, "Just get the money from Grandma." No concept of working for money.

Yale made her worse. Surrounded by other rich kids who bought everything they wanted and never thought twice about where the money came from. Again, Dean not recognising her after a party with the rich boys.

Nah, she can't really do anything. She's still 17. She's the only character who hasn't really moved on.

Also, Jess? I'd spread him on a fucking cracker. Absolutely gorgeous. Hottest guy on telly. Easily.

And Oooober? Loved it. Kirk deserved his own spin off show. By far the best character in it.

Graphista · 29/11/2016 21:19

Oh I'd love a kirk/lulu spin off! With a new movie by kirk for the opening each week - maybe we'd get to meet his mum?

Graphista · 30/11/2016 00:25

2 thoughts -

Did AS-P mean for the last 4 words to be between lorelai and Rory? That conversation could have worked between lorelai and Emily.

Assuming she DID mean lorelai and Rory when did she mean for Rory to be pregnant and by whom? Because a LOT went on in that last season that she maybe would have done differently.

Dozer · 30/11/2016 07:55

Yes, it was meant to be Lorelei and Rory (when Rory was much younger) and suspect the father was intended to be Logan.

Graphista · 30/11/2016 18:34

Oooooo how do you know?

HowToTrainYour · 30/11/2016 22:06

It's obvious who the baby's father is.

HowToTrainYour · 30/11/2016 22:09

Well I've just finished them!

Hate Rory, used to love her! I reckon she's a smoker irl.
Love Lorelai & Luke
Love Michele
Hate Sookie, another voice that's changed, she didn't have that sweet giggly voice.
I know they're older but I don't care!
Kirk is handsome as an older guy!
Logan is hot, but not as hot as Dean!

HowToTrainYour · 30/11/2016 22:09

I reckon that about Rory because of her voice
