What what said

She won. Fair and square. Rightly so

Get over it

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/10/2016 16:09

I'm sicking of seeing 'get over it' on MN. It's on every Brexit thread and now it's infiltrated GBBO too.

Blah.

Roussette · 27/10/2016 16:11

Have to say she came across quite well on Loose Women. Yes the lippy, but the ridiculous pouting was a shadow of its former self. I think she realises what's at stake now - she has to be likeable and interesting to sell books, programmes, recipes whatever. She has won the last ever BBC bake off and it is a wonderful opportunity for her. still think Jane should've won!

She is apparently set to earn £1M in the next year... and I read in an article that could include dog blankets and jackets, lipsticks (told everyone that!) apart from the baking books and TV appearances.

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/10/2016 16:13

Dog blankets?! Grin

I don't see the link!

Soubriquet · 27/10/2016 16:14

Sorry Mitzy

It's a common phrase round here

"Muuuuuuum, I want that toy that ds is playing with"

"Oh you'll have to wait"

"But I want it now"

"No you can wait"

"But muuuuum"

"Get over it dd. Your not having it"

MargotLovedTom · 27/10/2016 16:15

Yep - obviously a woman can't win anything without shagging her way to the top.

Roussette · 27/10/2016 16:16

It was an article in Telegraph saying about her dogs and the possibility of dog blankets and paraphernalia.... no idea if it was journalistic licence or true!

MargotLovedTom · 27/10/2016 16:16

Er, that was in response to HerHighness - hadn't refreshed!

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/10/2016 16:16

Oh yes the boyfriend had a pug!

MitzyLeFrouf · 27/10/2016 16:17

Ah I see soubriquet! Smile

Roussette · 27/10/2016 16:25

She has two dogs ... one was at the winners garden party... a pug and another breed, I suppose that's how it came up.

I could write nonsense like this though in a newspaper... you just make it up as you go along!

whatsthecomingoverthehill · 27/10/2016 16:29

"She is apparently set to earn £1M in the next year... and I read in an article that could include dog blankets and jackets, lipsticks (told everyone that!) apart from the baking books and TV appearances."

All based on some PR guy getting himself lots of free publicity.

I think she might do all right for herself. But at the moment Nadiya has the "GBBO Winner doing TV show" market fairly sewn up I'd say.

It really does baffle me the hate that people have. I don't care if someone is doing it with one eye on a possible career. I've been disappointed sometimes if I've disagreed with a judging decision but I can't even remember any of them now. It's a nice, good-natured TV show, just enjoy it.

Helpisathand13 · 27/10/2016 16:30

I just felt this series didn't really have the wow factor of previous ones. I've been watching re runs of old series and some bakes were fantastic. Seems a bit odd to win the show after the first two bakes in the same episode were aced by the two other contestants?! Must admit I really liked Jane, sincere and personable came over as very nice lady

PollyPerky · 27/10/2016 17:24

I think she won because Paul had a big twinkle for her in his eyes.

Davros · 27/10/2016 17:28

I liked them all. I'm happy Candice won. I don't get the hatred, it's rather unpleasant

Soubriquet · 27/10/2016 17:30

I'm not liking the ones that are saying she only won because Paul fancied her

I mean God forbid she actually does a good job. No it's her tits that have more appeal Hmm

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/10/2016 17:33

She was the only winner on the night, you can't win with soggy, under cooked pastry.

Marbleheadjohnson · 27/10/2016 17:37

There is no way either of the others could have won based on their show stoppers. Her bakes had their faults and were not flawless, but the flaws were much less catastrophic than the other two! They could not possibly let someone who served raw pastry in the final challenge win. There was never a week where someone else went and I thought "it should have been Candice", she was probably the most consistent if not as outstanding as previous winners.

Her winning was the only option. My most "WTF?" moment of the series was Andrew getting star baker with his fondant fancies, they were a mess.

Marbleheadjohnson · 27/10/2016 17:37

DameDiazepam said what I said, she was just concise about it! It was a no brainer, of the three finalists, Candice was the only one who didn't fudge it at the last hurdle.

Quite cowardly, even

GrouchyKiwi · 27/10/2016 17:47

Ugh, some of these comments are revolting.

She wasn't my favourite, but - whether the judges showed her favouritism over the series or it was made to look that way by the producers - she performed the best in the final and it was the right result.

ample · 27/10/2016 17:47

I think if I will miss anything, it will be Jo Brand and An Extra Slice.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 27/10/2016 17:48

The comments about her winning because of flirting with/sleeping with Paul are low. Same happened with Ruby (who has recently come out as gay). Obviously you can't be an attractive young woman and succeed in your own right Hmm

The great thing about GBBO is that has always been far, far less 'stage managed' than other similar programmes. From what I've read Paul and Mary take the judging seriously and Mel and Sue pushed back over early attempts by the production team to manufacture faux drama. The relative simplicity and honesty are what make it stand out.
