Here we are to rant and rave

OP posts:
OnTheMove28 · 26/10/2016 21:06

Reckon they'd commissioned the TV series before the result was announced. Feel sorry for the token bloke though.

Soubriquet · 26/10/2016 21:07

Surely the "what an opportunity" was about being able to go on bake off in the first place

RebootYourEngine · 26/10/2016 21:08

Raahh that would have been more interesting to watch than tonights final Grin

Kanga59 · 26/10/2016 21:09

I agree with the comment about the final showstopper. Not much room for showing off your skills or creating a whopper of a showstopper. Would have preferred 3 X batch bakes then more time could have been devoted to the choc cake. All three do well, shame that Andrew had soggy bottoms tho in the final showstopper.

GrouchyKiwi · 26/10/2016 21:09

Could it not be about the fact that previous winners have done books and shows and such like?

ample · 26/10/2016 21:09

I don't believe the crock of shit about Paul saying it's about the baking on the day.
Raw pasty aside. I didn't think any of the three stood out to win it.
Should have been a tie, it least it would have been original. A tie of three even.

jaggythistle · 26/10/2016 21:10

Yeah the show stoppers were a bit mince this series, too many collections of little bakes rather than big impressive ones for my liking.

Not awfully keen on Candace as winner, but to be fair she did do the best out of the 3 finalists.

oldmum22 · 26/10/2016 21:10

I felt so sorry for Jane . In the series she was the better baker ,I think. All three of the finalists did so well in the show stopper, really well done......I am so hungry .

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/10/2016 21:10

Oh is the boyfriend a jailbird?

ample · 26/10/2016 21:11

Candice is more marketable than Andrew, or Jane.
I'm not saying that's why she won. Nooo.

BalloonSlayer · 26/10/2016 21:11

I wanted Jane to win because I liked her best and the things she made were always things I wanted to eat (eg was salivating at her pavlova but the other two ones sounded bleh to me).

But Candice deserved to win. Everything she made went well in the final bit. It would have been wrong if she had not won.

(I think Andrew seems extremely nice, I would certainly trust him. Not sure I would go out with him if I was 30 years younger though.)

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 26/10/2016 21:14

I think Candice deserve to win she always pushed herself

But would have also liked Jane to win

ds and I will miss the show very much Sad

HalloToJasonIsaacs · 26/10/2016 21:14

I don't think I've ever seen a final announcement with less tension. It was clear that all three were going into the showstopper more or less level (although surely Andrew's won in the technical was pretty marginal), and of the three finalists, two of them had cocked up about half their bakes whilst Candice had got hers all spot on.

TheSpottedZebra · 26/10/2016 21:15

Convicted for dealing cannabis, appara.

HalloToJasonIsaacs · 26/10/2016 21:16

I think that narratively speaking they'd have been delighted if Andrew had won. But he just didn't perform best in the final weekend.

CrotchetQuaverMinim · 26/10/2016 21:16

they weren't spot on though, but Paul just said nice things about them anyway! But I do reckon the others knew, because of that.

HyperStripe · 26/10/2016 21:16

When Candice said 'im good enough' :( brought a tear to my eye I don't know why she wouldn't think she was

TooPlain · 26/10/2016 21:17

I didn't take to Candice's bloke. Was all over her in a rather possessive manner. Not surprised to read he's been in jail.

Jane's kids are posher than she is. Married well and privately educated them?

TheSpottedZebra · 26/10/2016 21:18

I will remain outraged that no mention was made of Candice's cremated pastry on her mini tarts. Mention it and still judge her the winner =fine. But to not mention it looks a bit like favouritism.

ample · 26/10/2016 21:18

Spot on,CrotchetQuaverMinim

Roussette · 26/10/2016 21:18

Just read this tweet.. which just about sums it up in my book...

Goodbye BBC Bake Off. A rare TV treat for the whole family which put a wonderful glaze on many weekday night

ample · 26/10/2016 21:19

Because it was Spotted

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/10/2016 21:20

Her fruit tart cases were almost burnt so not everything was spot on. But she was the strongest on the day I suppose even if Jane was stronger over the course of the series. Plus Paul favoured her all along.

GrouchyKiwi · 26/10/2016 21:20

Selasi has tweeted the best photo. Val seems like a hoot.

ample · 26/10/2016 21:23

That's what irks me. It's not the fact that Candice deserved it...I don't think anyone really shined today.
It's the fact that they 'glazed' over a lot of Candices mishaps.
If you watch back through all the episodes (and I won't) I bet there's a solid list of them.
