Anyone else watching this madness?!

OP posts:
x2boys · 02/11/2016 11:44

yes and to be fair i think most parents would have concerns about there son or daughter marrying a stranger i married dh after just six months and my family and his were both concerned 12 yrs later we are still together but i can understand why people were concerned.

x2boys · 02/11/2016 11:50

can you imagine if you turned around at the alter and really didnt like your intended husband/wifes looks though ;i know physical attraction sometimes doesnt last and its certainly not everything but what if they repulsed you ?

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/11/2016 11:56

Attraction isn't everything but I think at the very least you need to fancy your spouse on your wedding night. Grin

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/11/2016 12:00

I think attraction initially is everything.

x2boys · 02/11/2016 12:00

attraction can grow to i suppose but if i didnt like someones looks at all ,i,m just thinking how awful it would be.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/11/2016 12:01

** and that can be attraction to looks, voice, twinkle in his eye, humour.

x2boys · 02/11/2016 12:01

yes because thats all you have initially isnt it if they are a complete stranger

x2boys · 02/11/2016 12:02

yes that too Dame but i think for me humour ,personality etc would come with getting to know them.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/11/2016 12:06

Can you imagine having to give the 'I like you as a friend' talk to someone LIVING IN YOUR HOUSE! It was hard enough at the school gate/nightclub/works do. Grin

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/11/2016 12:09

I know some people grow to find someone attractive but I've never fallen in love with someone I didn't fancy on impact. So to speak.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/11/2016 12:13

Yes it's human nature. You can't manufacturer it and that's what makes this concept highly unlikely to work in my opinion.

Aoibhe · 02/11/2016 12:13

I obviously don't rate people or couples on their attractiveness in real life, but I find that the couples on this show are on exactly the same 'level', so it would be interesting to see exactly how they were paired.
I can't wait to see the honeymoon episode.

MitzyLeFrouf · 02/11/2016 12:15

And yes the 'I like you as a friend but I'm just not feeling it......' chat would be excruciating over the dinner table in your shared home! Grin

x2boys · 02/11/2016 12:17

GrinLois i,m remembering a relationship i had yrs ago i was on the rebound so shouldnt have really gone out with him he was a nice person he really was but i didnt find him attractive or fancy him at all and he was really boring imagine being married to someone like that .

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 02/11/2016 12:21

"Your not my type, now pass me the ketchup" Blush
I think the next episode is going to be a cringe fest.

hollyisalovelyname · 02/11/2016 12:26

X2boys you talk a lot of sense in your post at 10.45.
Very prescient of you.
Clark and Melissa seemed suited and the train manager and his match might make a go of it. I'm not sure about Sara and her match. I just felt Lucie was not what Steve? was expecting.
But who knows.
Lucie irritated me a bit and I feel bad about that as it can't be easy for her with her Mum not being well.

hollyisalovelyname · 02/11/2016 12:29

Aoibhe I don't think the couples last night were on the same level of attractiveness.
I don't know about Englishmen but Irish men always think they're a couple of levels up from their actual level. Grin

Word!

I read some comment online on one of the Irish news sites where a man was saying that Irish women really needed to up their game now there was a flock of beautiful Eastern Europeans in town. I thought to myself 'dude, I bet you have a face like a well kicked cauliflower'.

The80sweregreat · 02/11/2016 16:30

Just caught up with last nights programme (1st nov). Lucie was annoying, I think she had Jude Law in her head and ended up with blond steve instead! He seemed nice enough though.
Melissa and Clark, going by the trailer I may be so wrong about those two- she seems very bowled over by him.
Sara with Adam with beard, he seemed really nice and was so sweet to her mum, made a real effort.

Naicehamshop · 02/11/2016 19:37

I know this sounds bitchy but I really think Lucy needs to take a long hard look in the mirror before she starts criticizing Steve's attractiveness, which I have a feeling she is going to do!

Hope I'm wrong!

hollyisalovelyname · 02/11/2016 19:48

Naice
Thumbs up sign

ManagersDilemma · 02/11/2016 22:02

Totally agree, Naice! I thought Lucie bore more resemblance to Jocelyn Wildenstein than Bridget Jones.

I actually found Steve quite attractive physically as well as sweet! The comment that 'I don't really have any hobbies' would be a big turn-off for me, though. I wonder if Lucie will find him a bit dull.

The80sweregreat · 03/11/2016 13:17

I am struggling to see how lucie and steve were matched at all to be honest- she looked disappointed he wasn't tall dark and handsome for starters and I think he could do with someone a bit quieter as well. but who knows? people I think are made for each other end up splitting up! it may surprise us who stays and who goes their separate ways, the honeymoon episodes will tell us more.

hollyisalovelyname · 03/11/2016 18:29

Oh Manager you are naughty !!!
I agree The80'swere that Lucie appeared unimpressed with Steve.
I thought he looked cute.
It will be interesting to see how it develops.
I wanted to like her but she irritated me- I feel bad saying that, as I'm far from perfect myself.

Saltedcaramel2016 · 04/11/2016 11:08

I thought that Sara and Adam both seemed quite keen on each other. He seemed a bit keener than her though.

Lucy seemed like she had an unrealistic idea of marriage and the perfect man. When she said I expected someone tall and dark I think she was really expecting Mr Darcy!!!! Steve seems like a lovely bloke but a bit shy and lacking in confidence, he also seems to just want to be married like his friends.

Long term it is hard to see how things will work out but short term I think both couples will try to make it work. Men being keen at first doesn't mean anything in my opinion, that is just initial attraction and rarely lasts!
