Curbside, it's up here now.

Oh hooray thank you! Smile

That interview with Louise is bizarre. If she doesn't like sparkly outfits, what on earth is she on SCD for? It's the whole point of the show. And the bit about what's appropriate for a woman of her age is just sad and misogynistic.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 27/09/2016 01:23

She's not even that old is she? There's a category for over-65s on the open circuit and they all wear sparkly, nicely-fitted ballroom and Latin dresses.

That interview with Louise definitely came across as mummy/wife martyrdom Hmm

Runny · 27/09/2016 08:18

I was wondering why they'd been shoving Louise in such dowdy/frumpy costumes, and now I know why! I can understand her not wanting to show up her kids, but she's in her 40's not her 70's ffs.

LyndaNotLinda · 27/09/2016 08:24

She's only 41! She's basically called Naga, Lesley and whole host of former SCD contestants mutton.

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2016 09:23

Strange that Karen isn't a proper judge anyway. Maybe she doesn't want to be one Grin . I like her but she is a bit OTT!! I LOVE ST2 Zoe was her same normal happy self last night . Anastacia has a great sense of humour, she doesn't take herself seriously at all Grin

Dotty342kids · 27/09/2016 09:40

Karen is judging on the tour this year, so maybe that's to suss out how it works in preparation for her stepping into Len's shoes next year? I really hope so!

ThursdayLastWeek · 27/09/2016 09:42

I would like Karen as a judge too, I think she'd be fab.

raisedbyguineapigs · 27/09/2016 09:43

Yes Naga looked lovely, and not in the least but tarty or whatever Louise was worried about. I'd have told my 12 year old not to judge women by their clothes and that it was a costume, nothing else. She's in the football world, which is misogynistic in the extreme.

SapphireStrange · 27/09/2016 11:05

Louise R does sound like a mummy/wife martyr! 'appropriate'; WTF?

I too want Karen to be the new head judge. Why don't we all start lobbying the BBC?

MargotLovedTom · 27/09/2016 11:33

I think Louise is self concious about not being as slim as she was when she was splattered over the likes of FHM non stop, and is trying to divert any comments by saying she's being all modest because she's a wife and mother. Her solo career was always less about the songs, and more about the "Sexiest Woman in the World" thing.
I'm not saying she's big or anything BTW - I'd love to have her figure!

MargotLovedTom · 27/09/2016 11:34

conscious that should be

MoonriseKingdom · 27/09/2016 11:57

I think Brendan's enjoying working with Anastacia. She seems like great fun. He seemed quite subdued last year. Was funny hearing him refer to Lulu as 'the war' - as in don't mention the ...

MoonriseKingdom · 27/09/2016 11:59

Agree about the Louise clothes thing being irritating. Katie Derham last year was mid 40s and looked stunning.

DiegeticMuch · 27/09/2016 15:16

Professionally, Louise has been nothing more than Mrs R since her singing career ended. Meanwhile genuinely successful Naga, Lesley J, Katie Derham, Anita Rani, Sunetra Sarker, Laila Rouass, Susanna Reid etc are/were all perfectly happy to wear fitted glittery stuff in the spirit of SCD, despite also being mothers who were no longer 21 years old. Either she takes herself too seriously, or she's being disingenuous.

MaQueen · 27/09/2016 15:49

As so many people do, Louise is desperately trying to make a smug sounding virtue (I am wholesome and modest and love my family to much to embarrass them) out of what, is actually, a sad necessity (Nowadays, I have cellulite and heavy thighs).

No one's falling for it, Sweetie...

Chippednailvarnishing · 27/09/2016 15:58

Exactly Ma, it's just so contrived given stuff freely available ...

MaQueen · 27/09/2016 16:12

Exactly chipped ...0.7 seconds worth of Googling gives you umpty hundred coy photos of Louise au naturel.

I predict that in 6 weeks time, when the dance regime has made her drop 14lbs, she will be more than happy to wear something slinky...

Chippednailvarnishing · 27/09/2016 16:14

We're in agreement then. Louise needs to take her clothes off Grin

Floralnomad · 27/09/2016 16:17

Frankly I doubt anything Louise does could embarrass her DC anymore than what Jamie gets up to on League of their Own , and he often comes across like someone who has a very limited sense of humour .

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2016 20:20

No I think Louse should wear what she wants to wear folks Grin . There's room for all sorts of costumes on Strictly IMO.

Theromanempire · 27/09/2016 20:36

ppeat yes I agree, as long as baggy and frumpy is what she wants rather than what Jamie wants Hmm

MoonriseKingdom · 27/09/2016 21:07

Louise can wear whatever she likes but talk of 'appropriateness' suggests that she (or her husband) feel that some women are inappropriate.
