The Fall is back on RTE 1 in Sunday at 9.30
Jamie Dornan survives I think.
Looking forward to it.

Will Gillian Anderson still be wearing those lush silk blouses?
Anyone know where they are from?

I loved Love/Hate.

At first I was thinking that it was the girl who played Tommy's gfriend.

Also, great to see Krister Henriksson!

Maudlinmaud · 14/10/2016 14:48

How did you all know what she threw at the girl? Im going to have rewatch again.
It was really annoying me how I knew Ruth Bradley but did a bit of digging. She was in an excellent film called I am you it was also called something else. Boy that was a really good film.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 14/10/2016 14:56

Maud- she bought lemon juice from the super market the day before.

diddl · 14/10/2016 14:56

"How did you all know what she threw at the girl?"

At the begnning of ep3 when they show the "previously" bit, it's obviously a yellow, plastic lemon!

Don't think that I noticed that when that scene actually showed though iyswim.

Maudlinmaud · 14/10/2016 15:40

Thanks Dame and Diddl not sure I could rewatch ep 2 as it was a bit meh. But last night was much better.

OlennasWimple · 14/10/2016 19:02

Just watched episode 3 - still lots of shout at the TV moments (why is Spector uncuffed for the video link? Why isn't there a chair in the video link room, given that anyone using is would be very very likely to need to sit down? Why did he look like he was going to faint during the hearing? Why is there no police presence near Sally Anne, if only for her own protection from vigilantes? How was Katie able to wander around unnoticed), but still engaging.

I'm assuming that Katie will attack Stella at some point, or maybe the nurse.

Disappointed that there wasn't more from the stuff in the lock-up this week: presumably details to come out in future weeks?

Why 2006? Especially as Merlin is trying to link him to a crime committed in 2002. Was that when Olivia was born perhaps? Spector described her as "tiny" when he was first questioned after he came round.

Ulysses · 14/10/2016 20:00

If there's compelling evidence that shows he murdered before 2006, when he says is when he remembers from, then his amnesia would be irrelevant as he would be tried for those crimes in the knowledge that he committed them.

Not really enjoying all the lingering shots between him and the nurse. I do like the languid pace overall though.

Optimist1 · 15/10/2016 15:07

Why on earth would a nurse be having a psychological conversation about his near death experience with her patient?

If you were aiming to drown yourself and your family in the car on the beach wouldn't you at least drive to the water's edge rather than a distance away and just waiting for the tide to come in?

If you were a senior police officer who had a violent dangerous criminal under arrest wouldn't you take at least one of the precautions suggested by numerous PPs on this thread to keep him securely apprehended?

Many, many more questions re procedure and behaviour, but I'm still enjoying this!

JanetStWalker · 15/10/2016 15:12

Oooh, I can't wait. I love the Anderson, her perfectly nuanced eyebrow-raise and her beautiful shirts and coats. And Jamie is SO pretty God forgive me for fancying a serial killer.

This sums up The Fall for me, to the point that I had to double check that I didn't write it Grin

Reckon nursey is going to play a pivotal role, she's either going to die or accidental on purpose allow him to escape Wink

Ulysses · 15/10/2016 15:33

I'm not sure the nurse will feature much more though since he will be going to the other hospital soon for psychiatric assessment. They really need to get the storyline moving some more if they are to conclude Spector's part in the next 3 episodes. Can't be room for too much time still spent in ICU.

Ulysses · 15/10/2016 15:43

I think a big shoutout also needs to go to Stella's gorgeous shell pink silk robe, which makes an appearance in episode 3. I am hankering after one for Xmas.

Gillian Anderson's so immaculate in this isn't she, although she does look like a bit botox-y in her forehead this series. Fortunately her eyes convey such depths though.

Does anyone know how to get a live RTE feed in the UK? Asking for a friend...

Griphook · 15/10/2016 21:40

Why did he look like he was going to faint during the hearing I think at this point he remembered what he did...so I don't think he was faking to start with but now i think he is.

Missanneshirley · 15/10/2016 23:16

The arm stretching and the twitch at the end make me think he is faking it.

When the baby sitter was buying lemon juice I was thinking "poor girl thinks you can dye your hair with that" Blush. Thought she was trying to change her identity by becoming a lemon juice blonde!

ThursdayLastWeek · 16/10/2016 06:29

I did too missanne. I thought she was going to try again to sneak into the hospital with sun-in style orange streaks in her hair Grin

FoxesOnSocks · 16/10/2016 06:33

Hmmmmm Griphook interesting, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with him during the trail (plus I was surprised a person on video link to court because he was in ICU would be made to stand.

I actually didn't think about his remembering at the point, but that might be it.

FoxesOnSocks · 16/10/2016 06:36

No sorry Ulysses, I have watched RTE live when I was in the UK just off their website but that was the 1916 celebration so not sure if it was an exception.

HatePaperDoll · 16/10/2016 07:23

Someone asked upthread about the swimming pool Stella swims in. It's in Spirit Gym in the Clayton Hotel in Belfast. I used to be a member but the hotel was a Holiday Inn then. It's been the same pool in every series - I recognised it immediately. The sequence was probably only filmed once and the swimmer is a body double for GA.

Brontebiscuits · 16/10/2016 08:47

Yes him remembering during the hearing could well be it Griphook!

Rrross1ges · 16/10/2016 11:01

I think nurse victim saying she'd pray for him triggered something. I'm sure there was something in previous series about his relationship with the church but I can't remember what.

The son has been so much ignored in favour of Olivia that I was surprised to see him in the back of the car.

FoxesOnSocks · 16/10/2016 11:52

The orphanage he was sent to was run by a priest (paedophiliac priest). Stella heard (I think Stella) he didn't wash whilst there to avoid abuse.

FoxesOnSocks · 16/10/2016 11:58

Just looked up on The Fall wiki: Spector told Stella that fact himself.

Here's an question - does he actually love Sally Ann? She is looks nothing like his choice in victim does she. I think he does love her; well as much as possible for a psychopath/sociopath (never recall which is which was with those two)

Rrross1ges · 16/10/2016 12:20

Thanks Foxes. I wonder if Sally Ann is the perfect mother figure? He didn't have one so he made one.

Maudlinmaud · 16/10/2016 13:14

Rrross and Foxes I cannot get my head around SallyAnn and Spector as a couple. I mean it just wouldn't happen in rl. I know that sounds really shallow.

TheHiphopopotamus · 16/10/2016 13:37

maud he's gone for Sally because she's the complete opposite of his victims, I reckon. Very homely looking, maybe he has in head that no one would take her away from him because she's not his equal in looks.

But why does he always go after the same-looking brunettes though? Has that been explained previously? I'm probably completely off but I wonder if the nurse is related to one of his victims. It would be huge coincidence but who knows? Reality seems to have taken a backseat this series. There's no way that a nurse who fits the profile exactly of his victims would be allowed to tend to him, completely alone.
