Well, last in this series Sad. Was thinking about getting the DVD and accompanying book.

FoxesOnSocks · 10/10/2016 05:25

Albert's a bit of a bed hogger isn't he?

(There's a book?)

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 10/10/2016 07:45

It might be because he's so tall and she's short :)
Yes there's a book, not sure on the price but the cheapest I've seen the DVD is with HMV online £14.99 free P&P.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 10/10/2016 07:50

The book £5.93 plus £2.80 P&P.

Ahhh, just watched the last episode sniff

Is it my PMT or was anyone else welling up?

Albert so dreamy plus Ernst a heartthrob too.

Ahhhhhhh

Ahhhhhhhhhhh 😍

raisedbyguineapigs · 10/10/2016 09:16

Apparently they're a couple in real life. I hope they've got a kingsize at least! My DH is over a foot taller than me. He's a bed hogger too Grin

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 10/10/2016 10:01

I well up on every episode. Reading all about the real life events and diary entries just makes it more so. Their time together was cut so short but at least they found each other in the first place. As Tennyson said tis better to have loved and lost than never have to loved at all.

FoxesOnSocks · 10/10/2016 13:48

It wasn't so much a height thing but he sleeps in the middle of the bed.

Pick a side Dreamy Albert!!

BeckerLleytonNever · 10/10/2016 15:57

between Albert and Ernest...that's my kind of bed Grin.

how swoonsomew was Ernest, just asking for a lock of the duchesses hair? is that bit true or dramatized?

Peter Firth was brilliant too.

took me till last episode to stop thinking Doctor Who (Jenna, Eve Myles and Tommy Knight) but they've come into their own in this drama.

wasn't interested at first in this drama but got into it over time and now gonna miss it till its baqck Sad.

hope they repeat it on ITV encore so I can see the 1st few episodes.

DiegeticMuch · 11/10/2016 20:30

Brilliant chemistry between the actors playing Ernest and Harriet. I hope they reappear in 2017. The casting people have matched the couples very well.

Couldn't care less about the chef and the maid. Boring.

Would like more of Mrs Jenkins.

raisedbyguineapigs · 12/10/2016 09:55

Is Tommy Knight from Sarah Jane Adventures? I thought I recognised him Smile

BeckerLleytonNever · 12/10/2016 16:05

yes, hes from Sarah jane adventures, her son.

Id like more Mrs Jenkins too, felt sorry for Nancy though, but chef scarpered off quickly enough, couldn't have cared that much about her.

was that her sistr becoming the wet nurse? what about her own baby?

cant wait for the next series now.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 12/10/2016 16:40

I got a feeling the chef is a nasty piece of work, I didn't like the way he treated the other kitchen staff.
I was wondering about the wet nurses baby too, she was crying when she handed her baby over. She was just someone from Newport though, not her sister.

raisedbyguineapigs · 14/10/2016 16:45

There was something g on the Victoria Twitter feed that said something about Victoria's first wet nurse having killed some of her children. I didn't really understand it and I've probably misremembered it now

ZuleikaDobson · 15/10/2016 00:34

Somehow I doubt that Albert would have been allowed in whilst Victoria was in labour. It's silly when they try to attribute modern behaviour to them.

FoxesOnSocks · 15/10/2016 06:34

Apparently Albert was there. He had madcap ideas about childbirth, all progress and what not.

raisedbyguineapigs · 15/10/2016 10:51

Ah bless Albert! He sounds like the kind of guy I would did marry! All hairbrained schemes and earnestness Grin

CountessOfStrathearn · 15/10/2016 16:27

Zuleika, Prince Albert was at his children's births (along with the Home Secretary!), so they aren't being silly at all.

Fascinating article here:

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 15/10/2016 19:45

Did anyone notice what Albert called Victoria a couple of times, it sounds like leebis, one of the times was when he was fencing by the lake and Victoria asked him why he wanted an allowance, then just before they kissed he said 'and you leebis, will be my wife'. Is it something in German?
Another time was when they were talking about the muffin man and having children.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 15/10/2016 19:56

*or it could be lilibet.

PlaidMaid · 15/10/2016 20:03

Could it be liebchen? Means sweetheart in German I think (pretty much the only German I know!)

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 15/10/2016 20:45

Yes, that makes sense, thanks

WyldFyre · 16/10/2016 23:44

It was liebes. It means "dear" or "love"

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 17/10/2016 06:35

Ah yes, that sounds right, thanks.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 04/01/2017 17:41

If anyone's interested ITV Encore is now playing this series again, plus on ITV Player.
