Although I'm old enough to remember it first time round, I've just ploughed my way through all five series on sky box sets. I'd forgotten how good it was, I'm looking forward to watching the new series when it starts again in the autumn.

I think he is creepy bestiswest.

diddl · 28/09/2016 13:56

I too remember Jewel in the Crown-I think that that was the first thing I saw Art Malik in.

Charles Dance also iirc.

eddiemairswife · 28/09/2016 15:06

Jewel in the Crown was one of the best TV series I have ever seen. The books it was based on are great too.

DadOnIce · 28/09/2016 15:13

We've seen Tina's married man? I must have blinked and missed that. (I was wondering if she was going to turn out to have made him up.) Was it right after an ad-break?

diddl · 28/09/2016 15:55

Can't remember when it was but he & Adam passed on the stairs, after he was kissing Tina in the doorway.

The Ep where Jen is showing some bloke in a bar pics of Karen.

Squeegle · 28/09/2016 21:02

Agree re art Malik , and I remember him from Jewel in the crown too. He is delicious.

zwellers · 29/09/2016 00:08

The bloke in the bar that jen took a picture of, did anyone notice who the actor was. Am sure I recognised him from another show and it's really bugging me

diddl · 29/09/2016 08:33

It's James Weber Brown

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 29/09/2016 13:06

The song is Home by Dan Croll

MargotLovedTom · 29/09/2016 13:40

I reckon Karen is going to get fed up of Eddie pretty soon - she was obviously not that impressed with the name dropping at the dinner table, and wanted to stick up for David.

The landlady Tina reminds me of Dr Pixie from Embarrassing Bodies.

James Nesbitt has a giant head in comparison the his shoulders.

I felt for Jen, in the scene where she got upset in the cafe.

Darklane · 01/10/2016 15:04

Thank you, Smiling, that's the one.

Brontebiscuits · 01/10/2016 15:12

Allegedly James Nesbit is a sleeze in RL. Agree about giant head.
David reminds me of Richard Briers as he gets older!

AnnieNoMouse · 01/10/2016 18:57

I think Art Malik will turn out to be a bad 'un.
Was the guy who Jenny was taking photos of in the bar the guy who Adam's landlord is having an affair with?
I guess Adam is attracted to women who look a bit like Rachel and are her age when she died - but yes, inexplicable why they would be attracted to him.
I did like that he chose Matt over his new wife though.

diddl · 02/10/2016 09:09

"Was the guy who Jenny was taking photos of in the bar the guy who Adam's landlord is having an affair with?"

No.

The guy in the bar was played by James Weber Brown, the married man by Alastair Mackenzie.

Yes to Art Malik being a baddie!

Dozer · 03/10/2016 06:06

The way they contrived and wrote the ending of Adam and Angela's relationship was cliched tripe IMO, especially the "misunderstanding" about her attractive gay friend.

diddl · 03/10/2016 08:17

I thought that they split up because they decided that the long distance thing wouldn't work.

But they may as well just have had Adam coming back to see Matthew & his friends.

Tigresswoods · 03/10/2016 13:27

Bronte: how so? The Richard Briers reference?

Dozer · 03/10/2016 13:49

It was unrealistic, unless Adam's character is meant to be a shit father, which doesn't seem the writer's intention, that he'd ask someone to marry him and plan a permanent move to Singapore with a mid-teen DC at school and resident in the UK. Even had his DS been happy at school/travelling to and forth for school holidays, which he hadn't checked!

Clunky plot development.

Sunnymeg · 03/10/2016 14:06

I agree about the clunky plotting. It is almost as if Angela was written as a way to introduce her father into the main characters lives. Once she had served her purpose, she was written out.

GrumpyOldBag · 03/10/2016 17:33

We don't know Angela's written out though, she may come back ...

diddl · 03/10/2016 17:45

"We don't know Angela's written out though, she may come back ..."

Pregnant??

Sunnymeg · 03/10/2016 19:34

Time will tell.

Arcadia · 03/10/2016 21:24

It's Jeremy from Peep Show! Can't take him seriously.

Arcadia · 03/10/2016 21:28

Better this week. Less Adam.

AFingerofFudge · 03/10/2016 21:28

I need that jumper that Karen is wearing!! The black one with blue wings on the back!! Any ideas??
