Although I'm old enough to remember it first time round, I've just ploughed my way through all five series on sky box sets. I'd forgotten how good it was, I'm looking forward to watching the new series when it starts again in the autumn.

OP posts:

I enjoyed this week's more than last week's, it is definitely growing on me.

colouringinagain · 12/09/2016 22:06

Sad Pete

RJnomore1 · 12/09/2016 22:07

Me too Annie.

MuchasSmoochas · 12/09/2016 22:26

Dying inside with cringe factor. Cocaine detective? And Art turning up with the takeaway. He had me at private jet then disappointed me. I reckon the guy from Likely Lads will leave a pile of money to your man.
And how on earth would the secretary have bought dodgy football tickets? Ridiculous. However will still watch, I just enjoy a good moan.

SouthWestmom · 12/09/2016 22:45

Oh bloody yell Muchas I think you've got it. Pete has no money but he's a nice bloke so the old boy will leave him all his cash. He's secretly a millionaire.

MuchasSmoochas · 12/09/2016 22:51

Pete will have to dead him first though.
And something significant will happen with Jenny deleting the photo on the phone. Just can't work out what.

SouthWestmom · 12/09/2016 23:02

And David will fight Art because he realises he lurves Karen.

MuchasSmoochas · 12/09/2016 23:15

I definitely prefer Art. He's much richer as well.

OnTheMove28 · 13/09/2016 12:42

Not sure about the photo on the phone but David and Karen will definitely come unstuck over the speeding ticket - especially as his wife knows they're doing it.

...and yes, my first thought with the old guy was that he is going to be very important, the cliche would be to leave Pete and Jen a load of cash.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 13/09/2016 13:03

I've just watched the pilot as I missed that when I re watched the box set - Karen's voice has COMPLETELY changed!

Dozer · 13/09/2016 13:10

Too much cringe, not enough laughs.

Dozer · 13/09/2016 13:12

Do feel v sorry for Pete, but don't like the crochety old geezer storyline, and kept thinking of grandpa in my bloodypocket!

OnTheMove28 · 13/09/2016 13:17

Haha Dozer - "not the shrinking cap grandpa!". Mine have just graduated from Cbeebies to CBBC so I'm struggling with grandpa and with the fact that Cel Spellman is so bloody gorgeous good

DadOnIce · 13/09/2016 13:57

The speeding ticket is a Chekhov's Gun with a massive red flag and a flashing neon light on it!

They dealt with Pete's depression quite well. The bit where he and Jenny were driving home, and she wanted to play silly games like "Follow that car" and he just couldn't see the point and wanted to go home to bed - that is exactly what it's like. Although they then spoilt it by having Adam only notice Pete was depressed because he has been "down all the time". Rather reinforces the idea that people who are depressed are obviously total misery-guts to be around.

There's no way David (or his PA) could possibly have bought tickets online for last year's Cup Final! It just would not have been physically possible online! It's just about believable that a tout could have conned someone who knew nothing about football, but that wasn't what happened, was it?

LaurieFairyCake · 13/09/2016 16:28

I thought it was great. So much better than so many things on TV.

busyboysmum · 13/09/2016 16:32

I wonder if Pete will kill the old bloke as requested them get left all his cash and old blokes kids will suspect him and involve police......

I'm enjoying it though. It's nice to watch something with people who are real rather than plasticked to perfection.

diddl · 13/09/2016 16:36

The speeding ticketHmm

How long would he be banned for-just hire a driver FFS!

Dancergirl · 13/09/2016 17:48

It's nowhere near as good as the old series, too slow and not funny.

Poor Pete though Sad

Pete and Jenny - wasn't Pete with the Ozzie girl Jo at the end of the last series?

rollonthesummer · 13/09/2016 18:11

Pete married Jo but then she had an affair and they split up.

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 13/09/2016 20:28

Was very distracting seeing Brian Packham from Corrie. I expected Julie Carp to come galloping after him. :o

southeastdweller · 13/09/2016 20:29

I also think Harry is going to be a big part in this series - they wouldn't have got James Bolam to play him if he wasn't. I'll be really disappointed if Pete ends up with Harry's money after he dies and then hey presto, Pete's depression magically disappears.

Spiderpigspiderpig · 13/09/2016 21:57

Did I miss something?... I thought I heard Jen calling Harry dad in the 1st scene with him? No?

Lupinlady5 · 13/09/2016 22:03

No, that was his daughter (obvsGrin) - a different person from Jen. Think the actress also used to be in Corrie at some point.

user1471456822 · 13/09/2016 22:13

Anyone think Karen is starting to look a bit like Samantha Brick? think it's the mouth...

Cold feet anyone?
