He does look to have very successful, but his pain of not knowing who he was, why he was given up, was heartbreaking. Wonder what he's thinking now?

walkingtheplank · 27/07/2016 22:03

What did the little recap say at the end? I accidentally changed channel at that point.

HarlettOScara · 27/07/2016 22:06

Recaps:
Deborah and Kate spent a week together and Deborah is very happy to have 2 mins in her life.

Ray has met some of his other siblings and a big reunion of them all is planned.

HarlettOScara · 27/07/2016 22:07

mums not mins.

Hepzibar · 27/07/2016 22:08

Harlett yes agree. I am normally sobbing at these emotional stories, so was surprised that these two (Deboarh and Jate) left me cold (I am a blubber). There was something insincere about these two.

ssd · 27/07/2016 22:11

can anyone tell me Rays story, I only caught the end when he met his brother and was shown the photo of his mum

HarlettOScara · 27/07/2016 22:30

He was brought up in Barnardos care homes. Didn't know anything about his family and passed up a chance to meet his real mum when he was a teenager. By the time he did want to find her, she'd died and he didn't know he had siblings. One brother was found by the show and their mum had had 13 kids altogether with all but I really being brought up in foster care.

HarlettOScara · 27/07/2016 22:31

all but one being brought up in foster care.

ssd · 27/07/2016 22:39

oh thats so sad, he seemed a lovely man.

Hepzibar · 27/07/2016 22:40

Ray was the eldest, Arthur second eldest, stayed with mum, the rest all younger went onto foster care.

SoleBizzz · 27/07/2016 22:41

Ray was eldest. Wow his siblings might be in their late 50's

Thank you Harlett. I wonder what Ray's mum's story was...

absolutelynotfabulous · 28/07/2016 11:39

Blimey Ray's mother must have had one heck of a story. 13 kids, all but one in care...

sole I didn't realise that the other siblings were so much younger.

I reckon "Kate" went to Oz to escape her past and to make sure she was NOT found! Didn't work, though....

Ray was just adorable, what a lovely man. I liked his older brother too, the way he said "sit down lad", he was just very chilled. I hope Ray has finally found some peace. And agree that he looks to have done very well for himself, good on him!

Deborah and Kate, yes they didn't feel quite right. For some reason I doubted if it will actually be a happy ending for them going forward?

Adore this show! Still cross with the mum from last week refusing to meet the siblings desperately searching for her. It seemed remarkably selfish.

MumOfTwoMasterOfNone · 28/07/2016 14:17

I agree with everything you have said problem! Me and my OH sat there and cried when the Mum refused to see them. I couldn't believe it!

HarlettOScara · 28/07/2016 22:34

sbsolutely, Kate and Deborah's adoptive family were all living in Australia when she gave Deborah up and she still visited until She was a year old. Deborah's new family moved to UK later.

absolutelynotfabulous · 29/07/2016 13:11

hatleyt thanks. I must've missed that bit. That makes sense.

BerriesandLeaves · 01/08/2016 11:36

Maybe the mum who wouldn't meet up will see the programme and change her mind, but maybe not..

I was wondering about the story of the mum who had 13 kids and gave all but one up. I guess we'll never know why, but she may have had no access to contraception but had a husband who

BerriesandLeaves · 01/08/2016 11:39

Oops. Who made her give them up. Or may just have been very vulnerable for some reason and unable to support them/had them taken away. I can't see anyone would willingly have all those kids and give them up. Probably a very sad story there

BerriesandLeaves · 01/08/2016 11:42

Also, was the tattoo something he'd chosen to get done as an adult? I couldn't see anything online about all Barnardo boys being forced to have the tattoo

HarlettOScara · 01/08/2016 15:12

I could be wrong but something in the way Ray's brother said that their mother had had a 'very hard life' suggested prostitution to me...or some other form of abuse. As you say Berries, whatever her story, it was undoubtedly a sad one.

SoleBizzz · 03/08/2016 20:48

On tonight at 9pm. I am recording it.
