Boring title; hope the tennis is better!

The red button isn't working at all for me. I had to google how to tune each of the red button channels to my sky box individually, which kept me entertained for a while last night.

The crash in the women's race was truly horrific, but Grouchy posted on another thread that the news from Dutch media is that she's conscious & hopefully OK. I've watched many a cycling race, and that is probably the worst crash I've ever seen.

Raahh · 07/08/2016 21:11

I was on the Olympic threads religiously in 2012. I just haven't been able too watch much this time (have spent most of the weekend trying to sleep off a migraine) and the coverage on the Beeb seems patchy. They show 10 minutes of one thing, and move on.

also very pissed off that the USA tv schedules have meant the swimming is on at stupid times.

Raahh · 08/08/2016 00:36

Watching the start of Delpo/Djok- Novak has made hard work of the first game...

probably won't see much of it, as I'm shattered,

Vamos Potato!!

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2016 00:46

When I've persuaded DS to let me watch, I will. He's currently totally absorbed in the weightlifting & making me watch too Grin

Raahh · 08/08/2016 00:53

I'm pretty amazed that the beeb currently is showing tennis on both of the channels - Delpo and the Murray doubles.

it won't last- the swimming finals must start soon.

Strange noises in the stadium, watching Juan though. They all sound like they are booing, though I don't think they are.

Djok is trying to rescue what looks like a moth rather than just standing on it . Still pretending he's a nice guyGrin.

JaneJeffer · 08/08/2016 01:03

Ooh, thanks Raahh. I didn't realise this was on. I've been moaning all evening that they aren't showing the tennis and there's no red button. I really wanted to see Rafa. Think I'm too tired to concentrate now, should go to bed!

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2016 01:05

So the weightlifting is over. A tiny little 4'11 Chinese guy who weighs under 56kg just managed to lift 170kg right over his head Shock. All I can say is he completely deserves his gold medal.

Now I can watch tennis, but I won't see much as I'll have to go to bed.

Raahh · 08/08/2016 01:29

Drama- wow! go, little Chinese guy!Grin

Delpo deserves to win this set, it's gone to a tie break. He's played far better than Djok so far- who has had some lucky breaks (courtesy of dodgy line calls).

Raahh · 08/08/2016 01:29

The Murrays are a set down..

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2016 01:39

Yay!!! First set Del Potro.

VAMOS!!

Raahh · 08/08/2016 01:42
Grin

Just makes me even sadder that he has missed so much tennis over the last 2 years.

DramaAlpaca · 08/08/2016 01:45

Oh me too Sad

The Murrays were up a break but are now back on serve in the second set.

NoBarbaraGood · 08/08/2016 03:01

Delpo is baaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!

So thrilled to see that win!

NoBarbaraGood · 08/08/2016 03:12

Two things:

I don't think Brazilians care very much for Argentinians in sports (or possibly anything else?) so I'm not sure that any lack of support is something Delpo would take too personally. The Argentinian fans were being whistled at, for sure.....

I would also like to point out that Djokovic seemed to be pandering to the home crowd in quite an obsequious fashion, what with his Brazilian-themed wristband and sportsbagS. Honestly. Blecccccch.

Raahh · 08/08/2016 04:06

Barbara that pandering to the crowd thing annoys me- it seems his pr team have been getting him do it all year.

I missed the end ( fell asleep) but am thrilled for Juan. Hopefully he can get to the final this time( since his match with fed last time was brilliant, and he should have won it ).

Feel sorry for Jamie Murray, he was playing better than Andy from the bits if the match I saw.

But hey , Juan is back indeed! Vamos

( though the Djok camp will probably have excuses to hand).

Raahh · 08/08/2016 04:44

And I have just realised that Juan would have to beat Rafa in the semis to get to the final- so that's a blow!

I blame tiredness, and the fact my body clock is all over the place at the moment. Grin

magimedi · 08/08/2016 07:18

Didn't see it but thrilled to wake up & hear the news about about El Pot.

Bet ElPeskyJuan is pleased as well.

Can one see the matches on Iplayer? I am also totally confused as to what is on when.

BeckerLleytonNever · 08/08/2016 16:06

Yay Delpo! and Murray and Konta. Tennis.

whats with the bloody scheduling? don't know why radio mtimes bothered to have a tv timetable when the advertised sports are interrupted/not shown at all, so I keep missing loadsa tennis (got into the archery though waithing for it).

BBC4 and the extra channels had about 3 chsannels showoing the rowing, with all the different sports......???????????

Team GBs outfts better this time round than the 2012 ones IMO.

what the hells up with Djoko these days then/ didn't see his match burt form reading your posts hes trying ttoo hard to be endearing? it never works does it (just like my typing fingers still recovering from the breakage!!!) Tennis.

off topic but does tom Daley actually HAVE anything under his speedos? theres nothing there! why doesn't he just go naked , that postage stamp size material covers nothing!

magimedi · 08/08/2016 17:48

To answer my own question - yes you can get all the matches on IPlayer.

Djok looks very out of sorts. Boris has lost a lot of weight.

Raahh · 08/08/2016 18:46

I've never seen Djok look so upset. I watched the end of the match this afternoon. It was a very genuine hug at the net (I think Delpo is probably one of the most universally liked players anyway), and Djok was obviously pretty gutted to lose.

He's still in the doubles- but he's up against Melo/Soares - who are the number 3 and number 6-ish ranked doubles players currently. So that might not go to plan either.

The scheduling/the information online is rubbish. As is what gets shown (which may be out of the Beeb's hands).

The tennis schedule is probably another thing dictated by US broadcasters, like the swimming.

Raahh · 08/08/2016 19:36

I have just read that Berdych had taken on Goran as a coach. I can't take to Berdych, don't know why. will the Goran factor make me warm to him?

Probably not. Grin

NoBarbaraGood · 08/08/2016 19:42

Berdych seems to go through coaches pretty quickly.

NoBarbaraGood · 08/08/2016 19:44

Oh yikes, just saw the scoreline in Delpo's match: he won the first set, then lost the second 1-6. Off to see if it's being shown online, with fingers crossed....

Raahh · 08/08/2016 20:01

what totally shit schedulingHmm He's supposed to be playing doubles at 9pm!

Vamos Potato!!

Raahh · 08/08/2016 20:05

And why is he playing again so soon, when players who had earlier matches in the other half of the draw, haven't played again? IyswimGrin
