(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

it was the episode i was dreading (absolutely hate peter kay!) but ended up completely adoring it!...thought it was wonderfully sad, funny and touching all at the same time! fantastic television (but i also love the happiness patro; so what do i know? lol)

foxabout2pop · 11/01/2007 17:05

Unquietdad and Ash - thanks for that background info on Paul McGann.

I only asked 'cos I think Paul McGann is incredibly sexy actually - I just can't believe I missed him playing Dr Who!!!!

3rdTriMossTer · 11/01/2007 17:18

Ash I really liked Love & Monsters too, (but I like Peter Kay he makes me pmsl) thought it was quite brave to have an episode in which the Doctor / Rose hardly featured!

Foxy you have to see it, he is quite sexy in it even with his wig on!!!

foxabout2pop · 11/01/2007 17:42

3rdTriMossTer · 11/01/2007 17:50

My name is Nikkie and I am a Doctor Who Geek .I'm a fairly new one though as I watched Dr just before it finished and got really into it this time round.I've started on the old dvds and books and have all the new ones.I'm also a big torchwood fan and hopefuly Sarah-Jane too!

Apparantly this series will also have a Dr- lite episode.

AshNotTheHousewaresOne · 11/01/2007 20:38

welcome to the fold nikkie!.......come join us fellow 'enthusiasts'........id better head for now and unchain peter davison from my radiator....

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 06:33

Hello Nikki!

I didn't get to see much of Torchwood sadly, my pregnancy bed time is about nine o'clock so I missed loads of them!! I'm going to wait until my maternity leave in eight weeks; hopefully I'll be able to get it out on DVD and watch it then!!

So... scroll down and do the favourite monster / doctor / etc questionnaire!!

Ash, if I said that I had DT chained up in my house it would have a completely different meaning and lower the tone!!!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 20:44

Aw, you have to have a fave companion!!

I loved Ace when I was growing up, she was brill so probably still my favourite, although looking back over all of them I also really like Liz Shaw.

OP posts:
nikkie · 12/01/2007 21:01

Don't remember the old ones well enough to comment and don't want to pick Rose on that count.
I vaguely remember Ace,did she have a bomber jacket?

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 21:11

She did, here she is! Actually, she was dressed up to be a bit of an ASBO queen but was actually quite pretty.

Loads of the older ones are out now on DVD, or they repeat them on UK Gold from time to time.

OP posts:
nikkie · 12/01/2007 21:20

Thats who I thought she was
HAve been watching the UK gold ones but they have changed to new series.Have got the first episodes DVD for Xmas as had never seen those before. When Ihave some money will get some more!

Ripeberry · 12/01/2007 21:33

These last few years have been great as an avid fan of Dr Who.
I suppose i've always been a fan since i was 8yrs old (Tom Baker) era.
I was so gutted when it finished in 1987 but i kept on buying the Dr Who magazine.
Favourite Dr Who's of all time are Tom Baker, Peter Davison and David Tennant.
Love all things Dr Who but have hidden in the "closet" for years as years ago girls were not meant to like science fiction.
I've even named my first DD after one of the doctor's companions.. Tegan.
Can't wait for the new series to start and its also great as i used to live in Cardiff up until 2002 and i love trying to work out where they have been filming.
I've been to Cardiff Bay quite a few times also.
Its a lovely place to walk around on a summer's evening. Bit cold and wet at present though!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 21:38

When you've some cash I would recommend Genesis of the Daleks, unless you've already seen it!! It's the beginnings of those pesky pepper pots... dh bought it me I think about a year ago and goodness only knows how many times I've seen it now, think I could quote it off by heart.

So what's your favourite episode of the new series, so far? And what did you think of Catherine Tate at Xmas?

OP posts:
nikkie · 12/01/2007 21:40

Actually I was wrong , its on UK gold tomorrow so have set it to record!

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 21:41

Sorry x-posts hello Ripeberry!

My bil & his dw have just moved to Cardiff, to Llandaff actually, we went to see them just before Xmas and I wanted to do a bit of a DW tour but unfortunately wasn't well enough

UnquietDad · 12/01/2007 21:50

According to Outpost Gallifrey it's "The Ambassadors of DEATH!" tomoorw - old Jon Pertwee from 1970. Partly in black-and-white as I recall. Or maybe even all. Followed by "Doomsday" with David Tennant.

UnquietDad · 12/01/2007 21:52

Oh, it's a Jon Pertwee with Liz Shaw.

3rd, I have met Ace! But if I told you where/how I'd have to kill you......

nikkie · 12/01/2007 21:55

Do Uk gold ,only do Jon pertwee?

3rdTriMossTer · 12/01/2007 21:56

UQD, go on, I won't tell anyone!!!

615 eh? That means it'll be on UKTV Gold + 1 at 715 which represents a lie in for me atm...

Nikki it's a long shot, but if you live in / near Merseyside, you could borrow some DVDs from me?
