(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

UQD, that gif is legendary. Still pmsl at the folks trying to insist Baker is Troughton, though. Almost as funny as "Rose is coming back in the finale" cobblers..

Fubsy · 02/06/2007 20:11

Aww - I was hopiong they were right on OG and Timothy was going to be Jack.

Nevermind - that was such a sad ending!

WideWebWitch · 02/06/2007 20:16

Oh god, I thought it was swoonsome this epidsode, loved Jessica wossiname, she's such a fab actress.

Gizmo · 02/06/2007 20:58

Yes, she can do that wobbly chin thing just by pretending. I generally need several glasses of wine and repeat viewings of the episode where Rose dies to achieve that effect

Don't think it really amtters where the story comes from- i thought it was quite amazing this week. Best episode imo (probably because the most human) and Dh (a King Geek) went off to work mumbling about 'Ah the Dr can save the race from aliens but in the end Humanity anihilates itself in warfare'

True of course (in the sense that the notion is obv, Dr Who is a story but haven't the heart to break it to him )

MrsWho · 02/06/2007 21:38

Just catching up

Aitch · 02/06/2007 21:39

it was The Best Episode Yet, imho also. i loved it.

Aitch · 02/06/2007 21:41

and yes, i was shocked when he invited JS along, thought that was a bit caddish to martha.

flipping bloody brilliant.

And what a cad. She spanked him good and proper with that line at the end, oh yes indeed. Why would I want to travel with you, you broke my heart and caused the deaths of all these people.

But when he was blubbing as John Smith? Oh, I was in pieces. I keep hoping every week I'm going to be put off DT, but it's not really happening.

Roseylea · 02/06/2007 21:45

Fab episode. I agree about the arrogance of the Doctor.

Good on them for making the priest at the memorial service a woman!

Aitch · 02/06/2007 21:45

and The New Testament...

yes, JS's line was great, really took the legs out from under his adventurer time traveller intinerant status.

MrsWho · 02/06/2007 21:50

Anyone else cry at the end

foxcub · 02/06/2007 21:51

anyone else think that Martha has had a charisma bypass. She must be the most boring Dr Who companion ever...is she leaving at the end of this series [hopeful emoticon]?

Peachy · 02/06/2007 21:52

I cried but I hid it well

munz · 02/06/2007 21:53

apparently she does - according to my mum anyways. lol. - roumer has it she gets kidnapped and the dr searches all over the galexy/time etc to find her but can't - leaves the door open for her to return. apparently DT is going part way thru series 4 as well

BaffledByBabyTights · 02/06/2007 21:53

bran, did you get that Tim was in Love Actually as sam? Doesn't look much older. I loved that scene where Joan hands John their child after the birth and he holds it so tenderly, that nearly made me cry alone - and then I rounded on poor dh and said 'why didn't you look like that when ours were born?' to which the long suffering bloke replied 'one, that's not real, and two, he had a script to work from, I was just knackered and hoping you were OK' (I HATE it when he's got a point...)

SueBaroo · 02/06/2007 21:55

I love Martha, actually.

foxcub · 02/06/2007 21:56

munz - oh good, he loses her deliberately on purpose

How can anyone follow DT though - he'll have to be pretty bloody good!

MrsWho · 02/06/2007 21:57

I think she is boring too, think its that Rose was clever but hadn't learnt enough but was street wise but Martha is book clever and waits for instructions all the time.

foxcub · 02/06/2007 21:57

Sue - what do you like about her?

I want to like her but find her drippy and a crappo actress. She just doesn't draw me in at all.

foxcub · 02/06/2007 21:58

that just about sums it up MrsWho - plus the lack of charisma

munz · 02/06/2007 21:59

get billie back I say - billie and daid made a great team.

BaffledByBabyTights · 02/06/2007 21:59

I still miss the rose and doctor chemistry
