(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

yes, why did he take her to NYC then - I must have amissed the start.

SueBaroo · 30/04/2007 13:04

I think there was a scene cut that explained it was a 'one more detour' idea. I thought that was quite a weak excuse, to be honest, and it was a bit of a come-down after the big emotional end to Gridlock. I am such an OG analyst type

UnquietDad · 30/04/2007 14:30

A special treat for all you Tennant-lovers...

SueBaroo · 30/04/2007 14:38

Oh that's was squee-time and a half. I was so disappointed that the new series didn't do the face thing in the titles. Mind you, Eccleston's ears would have been quite amusing. But Tennant is magnificent. I wonder if he's ever seen that, bet he thought about it when he was a kid, lol.

UnquietDad · 30/04/2007 14:40

there is a more 70s styleee one here

actually an odd sort of 70s/80s mash-up!

UnquietDad · 30/04/2007 14:45

and to complete the set

Tennant 60s style

Some people must have an awful lot of time on their hands to make these things!

mygirllollipop · 30/04/2007 17:23

SueBaroo - they've done a CE one too

SueBaroo · 30/04/2007 17:43

As I suspected - looks like the FA cup

MrsWho · 30/04/2007 20:21

That bugged me aout the trip to Ny too.

Thanks for the Youtubes, see you in an hour

slalomsuki · 30/04/2007 20:27

We have just had a Dr Who themed birthday for a 6 year old who is currently watching "The day Rose Died" DVD.

My 18 month old can say Dalek which shows her influence!!!

Fubsy · 30/04/2007 20:34

Any recommendations for a DR Who birthday cake?

slalomsuki · 30/04/2007 20:35

M & S do a chocolate Dalek one for £8.00 or so. Its very sweet but very nice!

mygirllollipop · 30/04/2007 20:55

We were going to get DD3 a Doctor Who birthday cake but there was only a Dalek one left - we didn't think she would recognise it but at 2 she recognises and says 'Dalek'!

MrsWho · 30/04/2007 21:13

dd2 had one from Tesco last year Dalek with a voice button.

Those themes took me back to being about 8 and watching Dr who [nostalgic face]

Fubsy · 30/04/2007 21:33

Oh no, not a voice button - DD got an Easter egg with one, she wanted to keep it, but unfortunately this meant packing it to take on the plane (we spent easter with my parents in Scotland)

feckin thing wouldnt stop saying "exterminate" even while going through the hand luggage xray!

MrsWho · 30/04/2007 21:40

Got my uncle a cyberman mug last year for Xmas and we kept hearing 'you will be upgraded ' and 'DELETE' coming from the loft

m nowwatching Survival on youtube

lemonaid · 01/05/2007 15:39

DS says Dalek too. And "silly monster come out of dalek"

SueBaroo · 01/05/2007 16:39

Dd2 calls them Doglicks. Which is both less and more threatening, I think..

Fubsy · 01/05/2007 20:42

DD used to get Dalek and garlic mixed up. Hence we ate a lot of spag bol with added dalek!

UnquietDad · 01/05/2007 22:55

We still have Dalek Bread in our house for the same reason!

SueBaroo · 02/05/2007 16:23

Just fyi, the episode this week is the last for a fortnight - the week after is the Eurovision song contest. OG is having a meltdown thread as we speak. It's wonderful - lots of pissed off people and some people actually saying 'when I was a kid, you would have had it a lot worse....'

munz · 02/05/2007 16:26

noooooooooooooooo they can't I need my DT fix!

ooh and I hear he's signed the 4th contract!

SueBaroo · 02/05/2007 16:30

I shall be enjoying an entire evening with my lovely spanking new boxset of series two, so DT fix well taken care of. If you really need a DT fix, youtube is a veritable goldmine, and you get rude bits, too

munz · 02/05/2007 19:18

ooh do you- links please links??

Fubsy · 02/05/2007 19:29

Anyone know the cheapest place to get series 2 boxed set?

(And if anyone knows anywhere selling LOM 2 cheap as well, Id like to know)
