(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

Bllcks, forgot to set the timer. Did anybody see Loose Women then?

Bought a Captain Jack for DD's upcoming birthday - she's already got the Doctor, and her uncle is sending Rose with K9. Is anywhere selling Martha yet?

Fubsy · 27/04/2007 16:09

BTW, Dr Who figures £5 in Tesco ATM.

mygirllollipop · 27/04/2007 16:12

Doctor Who toys were buy one get on half price in Woolworths when I got the sonic screwdriver for us oops I mean DDs yesterday. My 2yo won't leave it alone.

MrsWho · 27/04/2007 19:42

NO Martha (yet), though there seems to be a Mickey coming out soon and a broken cyberman
Dd1 got a poster about them with her magazine and dd2 is obsessed with which ones we don't have.PIA 'cos they are things that come with figures we already have (Empty child/space pig/spiders)

Fubsy · 27/04/2007 22:06

Aw, a Micky would be cute. Ive seen the Jack with the empty child, and am a bit miffed that all the daleks seem to come with a Dr like the individual figure!

SueBaroo · 28/04/2007 00:34

Saw Loose Women. That man is rude

MrsWho · 28/04/2007 12:46

He is great isn't he

Mossie · 28/04/2007 20:03

Grrr... why do they mess with the starting times ? Not that we've anything that you could call a routine yet but I thought it was starting at seven and then it was earlier... I had to rush his bath

Yeah, priorities, y'know?

I was worried that all the Daleks would end up like Dalek Sec but thankfully the old iconic pepperpot isn't done with yet!

munz · 28/04/2007 21:32

ooh I love that dr! still not sure on marthar.

did all of the new species people die? (just wondering in case for the whole face of boe thingy?)

MrsWho · 28/04/2007 22:28

Yes they all died (it crossed my mind too)

So we are now down to one Dlake (caan?)

I actually quite liked Dalek Sec /Human Dalek it was the tentacles moving all the time!

The doctor was great tonight when he stood to be exteminated in the theatre Fantastic!

BUT Martha is reminding me very much of Daphne from Scooby Doo (even Dd2 has commented on her getting captured like Daphne!)

munz · 29/04/2007 08:04

the sad thing was thou I was thinking at that point - they won't ill him cos he's not done thetv rounds of interviews and also there's an episode next week! lol.

roisin · 29/04/2007 08:44

I dutifully sit and watch this with dss because it's scary apparently, but I just find it so tedious and dull and it doesn't captivate me at all.

I had nightmares from LOTR1, find Harry Potter films rather disturbing in places; but Doctor Who just leaves me completely cold.

Why is this?

Rosylily · 29/04/2007 09:06

There is something really simple and childish/like though that's what I love about it.
DT was brilliant facing the daleks at the end. Those tentacles on the man beast were totally disgusting...eurgh the way they moved!

Rosylily · 29/04/2007 09:09

(((shudder)))

SoupDragon · 29/04/2007 09:31

Rose got captured a fair few times too

MrsWho · 29/04/2007 12:08

Oh I know its just so far 2/4stories (3 if you include the Judoon) and she is more girly than Rose and therefore more Daphne!

booge · 29/04/2007 12:25

So if both Daleks and Time Lords travel in time and there is only one of each left what is to stop them meeting other (now dead) Daleks and Time Lords whilst traveling in time. Of course without doing anything to change the course of history duh.

MrsWho · 29/04/2007 12:32

I think there is some sort of 'block' on them getting to those moments or something so bad would happen if they did and thats why they don't.

roisin · 29/04/2007 12:37

At one point in church this morning ds1 put his hand up and made a comment about time paradoxes PMSL!

There was some vague context, but it would take too long to explain here.

MrsWho · 29/04/2007 14:56

Lol Was it your DH speaking?

roisin · 29/04/2007 15:08

Yup

MrsWho · 29/04/2007 15:12

what was the reaction ?

roisin · 29/04/2007 15:43

Oh everyone's quite entertained when ds1 contributed: generally more interested in what he comes out with than what dh has to say

MrsWho · 29/04/2007 20:13

Kids have some quite , erm, ^interesting takes on things sometimes. Church parade is always an experience with what the kids come out with

SueBaroo · 30/04/2007 11:28

So, are we thinking that next weeks episode is that the Doctor can't find any more excuses for stringing Martha's trip out any longer and dumps her off home, before running into her again coincidentally and bringing her along on a bit more of a permanent footing?
