(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

Torchwood isn't back until January. They start filming next month. We are gonig to Cardiff and I am hopng that they are filming then!

serenity · 20/04/2007 13:32

If you see Owen, please drag him down to the nearest vets. I cannot stand another series watching him get off with everything standing. I've heard him described as catfish faced before (not sure if it was here or the SFX forum) which is perfect. He's so unappealling, and a total twonk.

MrsWho · 20/04/2007 19:13

I didn't like him until I saw him with Gwen against the tree but the propper shagging with Diane was excruiciating(sp?) to watch

serenity · 20/04/2007 19:46

Oh I agree, the bit against the tree was a high point for him, but it all went downhill from there! If his character had stayed as sympathetic as it was in Countrycide, I'd probably still like him, but god he annoys me now

munz · 21/04/2007 09:13

right i've worked it out- sorry if i'm repeating stuff, but it's captain jack he's apparently in the 3rd series (i'm sure i've heard that b4) and he's not strictly DR's kind, but he's a time traveller etc. dr thinks he's dead after series 1.

any thoughts?

serenity · 21/04/2007 09:25

Capt Jack's in the last 4 episodes of this saeson iirc. He's a time traveller in the manner of Rose and Martha, in other words not a Timelord although he is now (possibly) immortal due to Rose resurrecting him.

I'm actually not convinced that the Dr does think he's dead. Can't remember if it was children in need (one of those anyway) but anyway there was a small scene that was a link between the end of Season 1 and 'The Christmas Invasion' Rose asks about Jack as they disappear off to barcelona and the Dr tells her that he has to stay to rebuild New earth...... I'll go and find the link to the clip on Youtube.

serenity · 21/04/2007 09:34

It was Children in Need, but I was slightly wrong about the context in which the Dr says Capt jack is staying behind, never mind!

It's here

munz · 21/04/2007 10:05

ser - according to torchwood he is immortal yes but you don't know why/how on that prog.

they said on on confidential that we would find out at hte end so I bet it's to do with jack.

Mossie · 21/04/2007 10:26

Right... I'm back! Actually I was back last Saturday but have been busy. It's as if there's something else in my life now, wonder what that could be?

Okay, what was the Face of Boe on about? Do we think the Master? or do we think some relative of the Doctor's - already had references to son & brother iirc?

Ooooh it's the Daleks tonight, I'm excited!!!!

Imawurzel · 21/04/2007 10:31

wonder who Boe was on about then, could be a brother or something.
Confusing. Another Timelord somewhere huh.
Doubt we'll know til nearly the very last ever episode.

NuttyMuffins · 21/04/2007 10:34

My ds nearly wet himself with excitement when he realised the darleks are on this week.

Imawurzel · 21/04/2007 10:36

Dh nearly did too!!

MrsWho · 21/04/2007 12:41

The Cin N thing isn't always classed as 'Canon' but my take on it is that the Dr and Rose were both recovery from the time vortex and don't really remember what went on.We will find out what happened when Jack comes back (We are very excited!)

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 21/04/2007 17:28

The VoteSaxon site has a new link - with an interesting access code! A clue perhaps?

How are you and the little one Mossie?

SueBaroo · 21/04/2007 18:08

Runs in and squeeees just for the Daleks..Runs off again.

I hate being so busy

Mossie · 21/04/2007 18:23

Fusby we're fine just muddling through a bit atm! Can't believe we have been out of hospital a whole week now!!

Right off to sit myself down ready to watch this week's episode - so excited! Ds is asleep in his bouncer bless him!

roisin · 21/04/2007 18:36

Urgh I loathe it. But dh is away today, so I'll have to go and watch it with the boys, in case it is too scary.

Btw have you seen books on The Book People. Ten of them for £9.99?

MrsWho · 21/04/2007 20:01

Well, what did everyone think or are you all still watching bbc3?

Roisin -Thanks for the book people infoo, haen't looked on there for a while (actually may not be thanking you when I spend a fortune!)

Mossie · 21/04/2007 20:04

What did I think?

Hmmm..... okay, don't shoot me down in flames..... but surely one of the reasons the Daleks have become so iconic and lasted so long is because they aren't just another "little green man" type of monster, iyswim?

So I remain to be convinced!

I do hope RTD isn't planning to do away with the classic pepperpot forever!!

MrsWho · 21/04/2007 20:22

Think they will be rested for a while after this year.

Did anyone else find that the Radio Times cover spoilt the story a bit tonight?
I quite like reading spoilers but to see the picture which was the cliffhanger at the end of the programme rather than just general guesses spoilt it a bit.

Fubsy · 21/04/2007 21:10

Yes, I thought the cover and the article inside gave away too much - for anyone who had watched previous episodes it was pretty obvious what was going to happen.

And then they had the cheek to say they didnt like spoilers in the article!

munz · 21/04/2007 21:11

ok have watched it - hmm shoot me down but darlecks for me are starting to get a bit - ooh no not again type thing.

(I vaugly remember them from 20 odd years ago) - well hiding by the sofa/turning away from it pretending to be asleep but really watching it getting scared stiff, but how many more episodes can there be before the dr finally beats them?

anyhow that aside DT lush as eva! martha is starting to get a bit annoying as well now - really prefer rose, it was quite clear they had a deep meaning bond but the relationship with martha I don't really like we'll see thou - I don't like change thou it's taken to the end of the last series to like DT!

MrsWho · 21/04/2007 21:39

We have been watching a lot of series 2 this week and I actually am becoming more inyerested in Mickey

munz · 21/04/2007 21:45
