(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

Ours were born in 00 and 03, so I suppose either they don't have one or theirs is "Rose"!

MrsWho · 12/04/2007 19:50

My kids were 99/01 so we'll have to go with Rose too.

LOL at Bobsmum and dad

MrsWho · 13/04/2007 20:01

we've been watching the Capt Jack episodes today and I think that the 3 together were one of the best teams on Dr Who, Dr is the brains, Jack the muscle, and Rose the heart.

munz · 14/04/2007 09:10

well ahem, the finale with CE is the reason I have a son - lets put it that way! lol.

MrsWho · 14/04/2007 18:27
Grin
munz · 14/04/2007 20:36

OMG he's just yummy! lol. it's the accent, the eyes, ooh! lol.

have u seen him in the comic relief song?

MrsWho · 14/04/2007 20:50

Yeah in a kilt

Well we cried The face of Boe was my favourite alien we met him in Manchester last week!

'last of your kind' 'you are not alone'

How can he be the last and not alone.
either is a reference to the master (different kind good/bad?) or not alone because he has friends?

UnquietDad · 14/04/2007 21:32

The Boe bits were good, rest a bit "meh" this week.

MrsWho · 14/04/2007 21:52

Glad I wasn't the only one that thought that UQD, just on OG and they are raving about it (except the RTD bashers of course )
It alos spoilt it for me that I read in the Guardian TV bit about giant crabs on the motorway.
Didn't really like Martha much tonight, getting fed up of her throwing herself at the Dr.

RustyBear · 14/04/2007 21:58

What about Susan & David Campbell, left in London after the Dalek invasion? Presumably they did their bit towards repopulating the earth?

UnquietDad · 14/04/2007 21:58

Probably my least favourite David Tennant story so far apart from last year's "Fear Her".

UnquietDad · 14/04/2007 21:59

I think that's mentioned in one of the books, rusty, but we never got a return visit on TV. Susan popped up again for The Five Doctors but I don't think her new family was mentioned on-screen.

MrsWho · 14/04/2007 22:00

yeah didn't really enjoy that one either.

RustyBear · 14/04/2007 22:06

No, but I just thought that Susan's descendants would meet the criteria - They would be half human, so the Doctor is still the last Time Lord, but he's not alone because they would be his great-grandchildren.

munz · 15/04/2007 11:30

eh who what haoppened then? did the dr actually gte together with someone?

agree about martha.

after watching the confidential on beeb 3 DT says FOB is right and the dr isn't alone, but the dr is right cos he's the last of his kind?? soooo cryptic. is it possible rose has got soem sort of time thing going on after the whole thing that happened at the end of series 1?

RustyBear · 15/04/2007 12:45

When we first saw the Doctor in 1963, he was travelling with Susan, who called him 'Grandfather' There was never any more explanation of the relationship on TV (though there have been endless fan-fiction 'explanations')Susan stayed behind in 2164 with a guy called David Campbell, with whom she had apparently fallen in love in the instant way that companions tended to do when the producers needed to get rid of the character.

So the Doctor may have descendants.....

MrsWho · 15/04/2007 21:10

I was assuming that all timelords (which would include Susan if she is really the Drs g-daughter) got the call to go to war and all went or were made to go? hence none surviving. If Susan wasnt a time lord/lady she possibly have died by now as she couldn't regenerate.

Just watched Gridlock again and it is better second time round!

We have got the Cd now of the music from the last 2 series and have spent all evening listening to it!Dd1 has pinched it and taken it to bed with herto listen to as she goes to sleep.Dd2 is asking to listen to Rose is pedal which we eventually found out was Rose in peril!

lemonaid · 15/04/2007 21:58

It's obviously the Master (boy, am I going to feel stupid if it turns out that it isn't). RTD was being all coy about it in terms of "oooh, it's this great big plot arc that we'll come back to later in the series" but he's the only Big Bad they haven't had back yet, and it's been semi-leaked enough.

MrsWho · 15/04/2007 22:02

I think its the Master controlling Saxon through rather than he is Saxon.

lemonaid · 15/04/2007 22:09

I'll plump for the other way. The Master had taken to nicking other bodies once he'd run out of official regenerations, so I'd guess he's either done that to Saxon (although that would be a bit Slitheen-y) or has just arrived and established himself as Saxon.

RustyBear · 15/04/2007 23:14

But maybe Susan's children, being only half time lord might not have gone back? But they would presumably have had to have been transported in time somehow, as they probably wouldn't be able to regenerate, especially without a Tardis to help.

MrsWho · 15/04/2007 23:42

I was thinking re-called as in all picked up (transmat?) from where they were automatically rather than took themselves IYSWIM

RustyBear · 15/04/2007 23:46

Maybe - but would it pick up half Time Lords?
Actually, I tend to incline more to the Master theory, especially since looking up John Simm on Imdb. It's DH who really wants it to be Susan, but that's only because he's been in love with her since he was 8 ....

MrsWho · 15/04/2007 23:53

I think master too just have my own vision of the Time War!

RustyBear · 15/04/2007 23:55

Do you think it would extend into ESpace though? Because if not, there's still Romana.
