(After our antenatal thread became somewhat hijacked with talk of Doctor Who)

Hello,

My name's (usually) MsMoss and I've been a Doctor Who Geek for over twenty years now. I grew up with McCoy, stood by it through its years in the wilderness and now watch, proud but slightly bemused, as it is no longer shameful to admit you're a fan.

Anyone else with me? You love the new series but don't want the old to be forgotten?

Join me, stand up and be counted!

not read the whole thread, but I am sooooo glad Doctor Who is back. I am really liking Martha too, I didn't think I would as I really liked Rose, but there you go.
Next week looks good too. I always knew Shakespeare was evil... why else would they make you read so much of it at school

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 05/04/2007 18:55

DD already says she likes Martha better than Rose.

So fickle, 5 year olds!

MrsWho · 05/04/2007 20:50

BUt he does look gorgeous!

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 05/04/2007 22:47

Flippin 'eck - Ive just had top wade through the sea of hormobnes on the LoM thread, now this!

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 05/04/2007 22:48

Thats had to wade...

MrsWho · 05/04/2007 23:01

So anyone owning up to referencing MN (life on MArs thread) on OG?

MrsWho · 06/04/2007 19:31

Any one watch Totally Dr Who? (with their kids of course!)
The cartoon is weird , its got DTs voice but without the mannerisms its not like the DR at all, shows how much of DTs Dr needs to be seen. The PT animated remakes don't feel like that at all.

sockmonkey · 06/04/2007 19:42

When is the cartoon on? Me & DH fancy watching it, but haven't seen it advertised anywhere, other than SFX, which didn't say when it was on.

MrsWho · 06/04/2007 20:08

only 2 min thing during Totally Dr Who.
5pm bbc1 Mondays
6pm Cbbc Fridays

UnquietDad · 06/04/2007 20:51

Damn, we missed the new cartoon - have been away. I'm sure it'll turn up on his year's DVD pack.

Mossie - Invasion is great, isn't it? I've also watched the first 4. I now want to watch ep 4 with the commentary, just to hear them commenting on their animated selves... I thought the cheekiest bit was during the ladder sequence - they animated Isobel's "knicker-flash"!

Mossie · 06/04/2007 21:03

UnquietDad I started watching episode five this afternoon ... and then the DVD player went haywire half way through had just got back from an unsuccessful hospital visit too so it put me in a right strop!

I'm going to try and fix it tomorrow when I'm in a bit of a better mood!

Yes I notice the knicker flash, lol

MrsWho, I started watching Totally Doctor Who the other day as I'd heard it was a cartoon, I had assumed the entire thing would be a cartoon so when it wasn't, I turned it off.... if only I'd waited a little longer!!

UnquietDad · 07/04/2007 12:53

MY DVD went bonkers a while back - started refusing to play Doctor Who, DD's Raven game, DS's freebie stuff from the Daily Mail offers... I've taken to watching them on the PC.

MrsWho · 07/04/2007 15:33

Was it trying to tell you something UQD?

MrsWho · 07/04/2007 20:03

Fantastic episode -Proper Doctor Who!

Loved Shakespeare and his undestanding of the Dr, Loved Martha quetionning everything , loved the Dr being star-struck and love EXPELLIAMUS!!!!!!!!!!

MrsWho · 07/04/2007 20:53

Oh and did anyone notice the blood references?

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 07/04/2007 21:21

No what were they?

I had DD twittering in my ear - whats going to happen, why are they doing that - I need to be a time traveller to watch the end so I can tell her what is going to happen!

MrsWho · 07/04/2007 21:28

'Blood of the millenium ' was one , there was quite a few.Supposed to be all through the series.Didn't notice any Saxon tonight though.

I have drilled into my kids, if they speak during Dr Who they go to bed and aren't allowed to watch it, both are obsessed with it and that works!

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 07/04/2007 22:04

Thanks - Ill be watching for that now! Isnt "Burn with Me" or something like that, another one?

I didnt notice any Saxon references either.

DD has been desperate to watch this all week, but just gets so excited she cant help herself. And she really does want to know whats happening!

UnquietDad · 07/04/2007 22:23

Our DCs loved the witches! They were cackling on the way to bed. I'd been told to watch out for two Potter references - I got the Book 7 one, obviously, but the Expelliamus thing would have gone right over my head if the Doc hadn't said "good old JK". I'm not the world's biggest Potter fan.

Good episode though! I loved the running gag of the Doctor giving Will lines. "Hang on, that's one of mine!"

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 07/04/2007 23:11

I didnt realise just how much DD had been Potterfied until she wailed when the witches came on -

"But I thought witches were supposed to be nice!"

Mossie · 08/04/2007 15:10

Yes, it was excellent wasn't it? Although I do feel a bit sorry for poor Martha, the Doctor doesn't want to let Rose go does he?

I thought that guy out of Shameless was excellent as Shakespeare. And quite attractive too actually!

Pmsl when the Doctor said about all the academics punching the air

Didn't hear any Saxon references, and forgot to look out for the blood ones, I was a bit too carried away in the episode!!

DeviousDaffodil · 08/04/2007 15:46

Twas a fantastic episode.
Some really funny lines.

He is so hung up on Rose though..

redbeki · 08/04/2007 15:50

My nine year old loves it.
I thought it would be hard to accept anyone after Rose, but I think Martha is fab.

the Shakespear episode was so boring though!

MrsWho · 08/04/2007 19:22

Oh yeash he was niiiiiiiiiice!

He was so different to being kev in Shameless.

Mossie- BTW how are you?

WideWebWitch · 08/04/2007 19:31

I thought it was a fab episode, some funny lines. And Martha is great, I actually prefer her to Rose. We watched it despite ds being away
