Just watched this today, I was in 2 minds after the rape scene in S1, anyway glad I did as I quite enjoyed it.
My theory (please don't confirm or otherwise it if you've read the books, I don't want to spoil the anticipation) is that the French pregnancy somehow goes wrong and the the baby she is carrying when she returns is her 2nd pregnancy. She made no mention at all of leaving a tiny child behind, only Jamie, surely she would frantic about leaving a baby behind with a father who was certainly going into battle?
Anyway that my tuppence worth Grin

ShowOfHands · 13/04/2016 17:35

If it's not her second pregnancy, she has the gestational period of an elephant. Grin

I've read the books though so am saying nothing.

Jamie does nowt for me. I have high hopes for Roger though.

Thanks to pixieg1rl for the knitting site. Taught my daughter to knit & she'd love the wrist warmers. Is off school sick so it'll cheer her up to have a new thing to do.

hudyerwheesht · 13/04/2016 19:01

Drywhitethanks, that clip has made my day.

Lordy, that billowing shirt, the ponytail....phew. And in the second half they are back in Scotland, I heard, so back to rugged, kilted Jamie(yay).

showofhands did you know Richard Rankin is playing him? My crush on him is possibly even more severe than that for Jamie, Lord knows it may be too much if he gets his kilt on...

vindscreenviper this is what I was confused about, how she hasn't mentioned leaving a child behind if that is her 2nd pregnancy. I've given up for now trying to work it out.

hudyerwheesht · 13/04/2016 19:04

The lovely RR, look at those eyes!

pixie thanks for that, I was loosing sleep over his potential sword fighting future......Grin
Bloody love Murtagh.

Googled the french count....he's quite exquisite IRL, but bet he's nasty in the show.

I'm very excited about Ri

pixieg1rl · 13/04/2016 19:16

Sorry, meant to say v excited about RR being in Outlander. Reading the later books I really liked Roger, I hope they let him keep the beard.

ShowOfHands · 13/04/2016 19:18

I was really pleased with the casting of RR. I'm hoping he gets his kilt on and plays his guitar.

hudyerwheesht · 13/04/2016 19:22

twinklestein thank you for that link, I didn't even know there was a soundtrack, it's gorgeous.

Think my obsession is now complete.

Drywhitethanks · 13/04/2016 19:29

WOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! I know MN hates capitals but sod it

He was lovely without the beard too, in The Crimson Field a couple of years ago. His accent is broad Glaswegian though, so I guess he'll moderate it for the Outlander role.

Drywhitethanks · 13/04/2016 20:20

Have googled , confused now but can deal with that, nothing new Grin

Drywhitethanks · 13/04/2016 20:22

Cerseiys are you saying the other Scot accents aren't broad ? Sound it to me Confused

OP posts:
hudyerwheesht · 13/04/2016 20:25

As far as I'm concerned capitals are appropriate for this thread, especially for RR.

He's playing Roger, the vicar's son. Which I guess means we don't see him 18th century-kilted. (Weep)

Hi accent isn't too broad, I drooled over watched him in From Darkness and Thirteen and he just has a nice burr. Plus they have dialect coaches, etc.

I haven't noticed Murtagh having a dodgy accent - yet.

Mrs Fitzgibbons was the absolute worst for me.

I may be repeating myself from up thread but I thought the accents were mostly spot on and was quite impressed that a) the different regions were accurate (not sure a non Scottish person would be as aware, apart from them sounding different to one another)and b) they actually spoke Gaellic.

The chap who plays Murtagh is English but lives in Ireland iirc. Mrs Fitz sounded like a caricature or me when I read A Squash And A Squeeze. Geillis had a few issues too. She's Dutch irl though I think.

And yes the vicar's nephew is going to turn from that rosy cheeked wee scrap into RR.

I won't comment on whether or not he wears a kilt. Spoilers.

Actually having just watched a bit I see what you mean. Damn, I like Murtagh too.

showofhands no fair. I just need to know if we're talking kilted, not what century he wears it in...pllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeaase?

That's ok, I still like the character.

I can't wait either, a whole week in between episodes is going to be tough - I binged my way through S1. It's also occurred that it may be be months before RR makes an appearance, kilted or otherwise. Boo.

pixieg1rl · 13/04/2016 20:51

Hudyer depending on what stays in from the books there is a high chance of RR in a kilt Wink

In the meantime, this might tide you over..
