Jane, I know. When anyone says anything negative about Jamie, it really upsets me. I am completely ridiculous. A fifty year old woman with a long-standing g teenage crush on a fictional character. He is just so awesome, though. Why can't real men be !ore like Jamie Blush

TheHiphopopotamus · 13/05/2016 22:14

Aww! Flowers I'll try, but if I'm honest it wasn't just that scene in Voyager, it was a whole raft of stuff. Some of the stuff he does later on seems out of character with how he acts in the first few books. I don't know whether that's DG's writing or not though.

If it's any consolation, I am completely in love with tv version Jamie. It will be interesting to see how they develop his character on that.

hudyerwheesht · 14/05/2016 08:09

I'm equal parts intrigued and put off by all this talk of the later books - given that I'm still only 3/4 of the way through book 1 is it with reading DIA and Voyager - I don't want to spoil Jamie for myself? Confused
I've only sneaked a look at some of DIA and all it did was confuse me so I think I'd wait till s2 was finished anyway...

pixieg1rl · 14/05/2016 08:22

I've spent an enjoyable morning searching tumblr for this gif
tonoelwithlove.tumblr.com/post/96539817164/legs-and-something-under-jamies-kilt
I wish I could remember how to embed gifs in posts....

TheHiphopopotamus · 14/05/2016 09:01

That gif! 👀

hud don't let what I've said put you off reading the books. There's loads of people who have read the books and love them and Jamie. And I'm just a fussy bugger anyway.

Also, when we're all the same stage in the books, I'd love to have a discussion with you all about them Grin

hudyerwheesht · 14/05/2016 10:27

hipho thanks, may persevere then...

I'm trying to load that gif on my phone and the stopping and starting is torturous - I'll have to look at it properly later. Smile

Jane054848 · 14/05/2016 11:38

Nothing can spoil Jamie! Read away, I say.

Can anyone tell me how you change your name on here? I need a less boring, possibly outlander themed name ...

snozzlemaid · 14/05/2016 12:17

I'm on an ipad and there's My Mumsnet at the top and then select my account.
Not sure if you're on a desktop site or app.
Look forward to seeing what name you go for.

Drywhitethanks · 14/05/2016 20:06

Hud I'm skim reading book 3 done 2 and am not disappointed/confused so far.

Just watched the new episode. Wow! Heartbreaking ending - very glad I've read past this or it would be agony waiting to find out what happens.
Still love Murtagh and Fergus a lot.
And there's some sitting down in a kilt action, which nicely exposes some knee/thigh Grin

Dollius01 · 15/05/2016 10:25

It's so unfaaaair. I am not in the UK so I can't get it on Amazon and I have to wait until tomorrow when it comes on iTunes.

Waaaaaiiiiiil.

pixieg1rl · 15/05/2016 10:32

I have to wait until tonight and watch when kid is in bed. Sunday is avoid Outlander social media day

hudyerwheesht · 15/05/2016 12:13

Snozzlemaid I might have to get you to pm me, I'm distraught at that ending!

TheHiphopopotamus · 15/05/2016 12:32

Wow, what an episode!

Does anyone know how many episodes are left? Are we getting 12?

Not sure if I feel better or worse knowing what's going to happen Confused Have to say though, I'm missing all the shagging romance from S1.

Dollius01 · 15/05/2016 14:40

supposed to be 12 episodes I think, although how they are going to fit all of the plot lines from book two into another 6, I don't know....

TheHiphopopotamus · 15/05/2016 14:43

Doillius that's just what I was thinking. S1 was just steady away and they're racing through everything in S2.

I think there'll be more tears. I can hardly bear to watch.

TheHiphopopotamus · 15/05/2016 14:45

Oh, and also now that someone has pointed out Prince Charlie's 'Mark me!' I can't stop noticing it. He must say it at least three times every appearance Hmm

hudyerwheesht · 15/05/2016 15:59

I was going to say that hipho - it's driving me nuts!

Wasn't there 16 episodes in s1, I was assuming they would have roughly the same for s2?

TheHiphopopotamus · 15/05/2016 16:48

Ooh, I hope there are 16 episodes! Felt a bit sad that we might nearly be halfway through. Doesn't seem two minutes since it started.

cre8tiveheritage · 15/05/2016 17:13

Dollius01 · 15/05/2016 17:53

Random question alert. Why does Diana Gabaldon keep using the word "abstracted", "abstractedly" etc? Is this even a word?

I can't help thinking she means "distracted" each time she uses it, but it is really bothering me.

Drywhitethanks · 15/05/2016 19:32

Loved it!!!! Really loved it. Watched twice as usual.
The Count was smouldering......loved him and J having a face off.
And they changed a bit from the book, just a little thing . I'm really loving Fergus, kilt knees and adore CB even more.
Hudyer thought you'd read all of the books.
I think Season 1 had 25/16 episodes........

OP posts:
Drywhitethanks · 15/05/2016 20:05

Sorry.....25 episodes would be great, I meant 15/16

hudyerwheesht · 15/05/2016 20:52

drywhite, no that was a typo in an earlier post that made it read as though I had -I'm reading book 1 and have only taken peeks at book 2.

I may do the skim reading thing too, there's a lot of good stuff but a hell of a lot of waffle, as you know. Skim racing may be the way forward.

I loved the face off with the count too, especially when Jamie shot out of his chair.

~spoiler alert for those who haven't seen this week's episode~

Oh but I'm worried for wee Fergus, at the hands of BJR - can only assume whatever happened was bad enough to make Jamie break his promise...And for the baby. And was that Jamie being arrested?

Arrggh, can't wait till next week.

Also, was there some significance in BJR getting stabbed in the family jewels?!

Drywhitethanks · 15/05/2016 21:00

Think so Hudyer.....I inwardly cheered when that happened.
Skim reading is best........
In the book they were arguing about a prostitute which I didn't like ....much better that it ws about poor Fergus.
Well duelling is illegal in France so I guess he'll be arrested Sad
Next week will be a good one. Shame we have to wait a week.
