Re books - fiery cross is really quite dull. Then they get better again. I only slightly care about the other characters so I do a lot of skimming - but Jamie is always awesome.

Pixie, amazing clip! I can't wait for Sunday.

When will we find out if it's being renewed for series 3? It will be, won't it? Won't it?

hudyerwheesht · 13/05/2016 07:14

Hopefully that's an episode 6 preview...

snozzlemaid · 13/05/2016 09:36

I'm really bloody living this story along with Jamie & Claire.
I'm reading book 2 and I can't explain the joy I'm feeling now they've returned to Scotland!
My heart soared when I read they had returned.

Lessstressedhemum · 13/05/2016 09:42

SPOILER ALERT, don't get too happy.

snozzlemaid · 13/05/2016 09:47

Oh no! Sad

pixieg1rl · 13/05/2016 10:05

She's right

Swigs whisky

Lessstressedhemum · 13/05/2016 10:09

When I read it in the book it breaks my heart, every time. Uncontrollable sobbing every time. Goodness knows what I'll be like seeing SH on the TV.

pixieg1rl · 13/05/2016 10:17

I think Starz are going to have to fund a helpline. Especially if they don't get a green light for season 3...

TheHiphopopotamus · 13/05/2016 10:55

I reckon it will definitely get a S3. The viewing figures have been high and even if Starz don't renew it, I think Amazon may pick it up. The producers of the show are definitely already planning it anyways.

I think the third book will be a lot more difficult to film.

pixieg1rl · 13/05/2016 11:03

I think they will as well Hiphop, I expect logistics will be playing a big part in delaying its announcement.

How closely are they following the books? Do you think they will go past the end of DIA and start Voyager?

@@@@@@@@@@@@@ spoiler time

Starz does produce Black Sails which means there could be an element of shared resource....

TheHiphopopotamus · 13/05/2016 11:23

There's been some speculation that this series will run into the start of Voyager, although I'm not so sure. It's definitely going to end on a cliffhanger, I think. Didn't SH tweet that he'd just finished the voiceover for the last ep and there'll definitely be tears? (Or something).

Good point about the shared resources, but they'll also have to film Jamie's bit at the start of the book (I'm guessing) where a certain character is elsewhere (hope that's cryptic enough for those who haven't read the book, but understandable enough for those who have Confused)

snozzlemaid · 13/05/2016 11:41

I'm scared to keep reading now Sad
I've been signed off work for another two weeks so plenty of time for me to finish book2 and get cracking with book 3.
Then I'll know what you're all talking about.

TheHiphopopotamus · 13/05/2016 11:46

jane if I skip Fiery Cross, and go on to the next book, will I have missed anything important? Have almost lost the will to live with the neverending Gathering.

Lessstressedhemum · 13/05/2016 12:59

There's some important stuff in Fiery Cross and a lot of character development. You can't really miss it out. There also a really powerful and moving scene towards the end of the gathering that shows just how awesome Jamie really is!
The later books can be a bit hard to wade through at times, but they are really, really plot dense. If you miss bits out, you can't really get a handle on all the different threads.

MistressFraser · 13/05/2016 14:46

Yeah, I'm going off the idea of going past season one. I'm just going to stay in my Jamie and Claire together forever happy place, because I DO NOT want to cry.

As long as you keep posting lovely pics of kilts and knees and the odd pregnancy belly stroking clip, I'll be just fine here in my Lallybrock bubble.

slalomsuki · 13/05/2016 15:29

I got to the end of book 4 and gave up on any more. I enjoyed the early book and the intrigue but it didn't seem so relevant later on and I couldn't relate to the story. Perhaps if they get that far in the TV series I will pick it up again.

snozzlemaid · 13/05/2016 16:04

Knees...

Outlander Season 2
MistressFraser · 13/05/2016 16:27
Smile

Such fine knees.

Drywhitethanks · 13/05/2016 18:19

Another great pic to come home to Smile

I hope they spill into Voyager a bit. I found the opening of Season 2 where Claire is shrieking with despair at the stones having returned to 1940s absolutely heart breaking, couldn't cooe with a very sad season end, need hope........

My Outlander bubble was a tiny bit burst this morning when I read that CB has made a film........she isn't really Claire Sad Sad and not with SE Shock

I have a very long train journey tomorrow will keep going with Voyager can't wait
Are we going to see Murtagh in a silk waistcoat? Hmm

I watched all the best bits from episodes 1-5 season 2 last night, then the Reckoning from season 1 DH is away .....think I'm ready for Vikings. Need to detox....but won't Grin

I've said this before but I love CB for her accurate portrayal of a woman's sexual experience, it's quite brilliant to see that in a show like this. She should be proud of that.

Ramble over for now

slalom I think I may do the same. I'm almost a quarter through TFC and there isn't anything even vaguely resembling a plot at the moment. I'm also finding it hard to match up the book characters with their telly counterparts. I went off Jamie a bit back (hard to imagine, I know) and Claire's just getting on my wick, never mind the myriad of barely interesting supporting characters that DG has introduced. (Less is more, Di love, less is more Wink).

MistressFraser · 13/05/2016 20:39

You lot are such a bad influence. I've swung from resolutely sticking with season one only at lunchtime to being three episodes into season two by dinner. (Goodness knows what the DC did with themselves this afternoon.) All your comments about lack of fringe and lack of Scotland and lack of sex now make sense. But I will blame you when I cry at the end of the season.

Speaking of which, my free trial of Prime runs out in a week or so. Given that I can't possibly justify the expenditure to DH of a proper subscription, what shall I do? I can just imagine the Hmm look DH would give on hearing about the need to finish watching a time-travelling historical fantasy with a preposterous plot line starring a red-hot Scot.

TheHiphopopotamus · 13/05/2016 21:11

Can anybody else in the family get a free months trial? I think me and DH both had free month before I subscribed proper. If so, I would wait til Outlander has finished its current run then get another free month and binge watch.

Failing that, is there any other way to get Starz channel in the uk that's not illegal ?

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 13/05/2016 21:23

I'm so annoyed!

I've been mentally saving series 2 to watch on holiday, and bloody Amazon Prime won't let me watch here in Florida for "geographical licence reasons"

AKAmyself · 13/05/2016 21:26

Evening all, well I had promised that I would treat myself to a rerun of season one (starting with episode 9 in its entirety and then selected bits of later episodes.... gosh that bit by the fire where he uses his fingers...). Feeling much better andall glowy/jamied-out now :D

Mistress I'm not in the UK and the only way for me to watch is streaming it off the internet. Streaming is legal where I live but I probably would do it anyway.

Sorry for leading you further on the road to perdition....

Jane054848 · 13/05/2016 21:50

Hiphop - I do think you can. Lessstressed makes a fine point there is s great scene at ch 15. Then there is another really good bit at part 8. The rest I think you can skip. However you have got to fall back in love with Jamie ! Please forgive him for voyager incident. Honestly when you say you have gone off him it feels like you are slating my husband. I am such a saddo!
